Guide to sorcery: Grab rock sling and the meteorite staff

Grab misericode and upgrade it, sweet 140 crit mod

Spam rock sling at bosses until they fall over then stab their tummy or face

Works with Sword of St.Trina for putting your enemies to sleep or Reduvia Dagger for that beautiful blood loss buildup.

Otherwise yeah, rock sling + meteorite staff is meta as far as I am concerned.

Got the Zwei and its good, but lacks a little impact for my taste.
Got the Greatsword and it has nice impact, but only horizontal slashes :(

Do you know some Colossal swords with vertical slams, like Greatsword's from earlier DS?

The sword made of swords really feels good. Don't remember where I got it from :D

Because you haven't found any or you haven't found any that you like? I'm still using the initial bandit outfit, but I've had new pieces drop and the initial merchant has the chain armor.
I have many drops, full sets even, but nothing suits me better than the vagabond one. Apart from some situational changes.
Well, I guess we can't really complain if the class advertised as having the best starting armor set has a very good armor set. The first armor I found that is a direct improvement is the Fire Monk Armor.

Thank you both. That sword kinda looks too ridiculous though, even for me.

Looking at the wiki and movesets, Troll's Golden Sword might just be the right weapon for me. Kinda fitting name for a Codex member's weapon too :)

Although I guess it might be in a later game location.

Man, this is getting even more and more bloodborney by the minute. It's less in your face than the sudden BB reveal but the nature of the world is horribly suspicious.

There are also curved greatswords. Bloodhound's Fang can be aquired early (heh) and has a really nice weapon skill and bleed effect.

Few days ago i cleared bosses before Radahn, i didn't know than that he is next, because the npc told me that the festival is not starting yet or something. For days now I'm using +6 bloodhound sword, with +8 and +9 stones in inventory. So I'm like fuck this, I'll go on wiki for the +7 stone location.
Here is my session from yesterday.

It turns out that stone is in the zone after Radahn, and the same zone for npc quest that i was on. Some fun fight titbits . I was overgeared for him, and after few tries he was at like 1hp and i thought he was dead, while he was doing his comet attack and wrecked me:lol: He was gangbanged soon after, didn't manage to activate his last phase.

His death opens a new underground area, which is connected to other underground zones that i previously explored. I managed to explore some of it, and still haven't found the upgrade from the start of the post. The game is massive above and under ground. There are some copycat bosses here and there, but the exploration and most of boss fights are top notch. Hats off to From Soft:salute::salute:

the zweihänder started to suck once they replaced the really good r2 with the limpdicked stab in ds2. i will never forgive them.

I knew it would come to this. I hit the boss arena where there's tons of background detail and the fps goes to complete shit and every input comes out with almost half a second of delay because of the frame drops and stutter...

Oh yes, I loved Zwei pancakes in DS1! Used it exclusively there.

Although I guess technically the stab is also a good move (probably even better if you ask powergamers), but... its just not the same. And not enough stagger either.

Performance seems fine in FullHD BTW - on my ancient i5 4th Gen, 8 GB RAM, GeForce 970 GTX system.
Occasional stutter when loading assets I guess, but nothing special in open world games, I'd say.

The greatsword has only horizontal slashes in its standard moveset, but all colossal swords have a very fast "spear-like" thrust as a crouch-attack. Crouch-attacks come out so fast that sometimes I use it even with the claymore that already has a regular thrust attack.

Now that this thing's been out for around a week, what's the Codex Consensus on it? Technical shit aside, is this a good Souls game for someone who likes then generally?
Speakin' as someone who liked Souls 1, was neutral-positive on Souls 2, and felt a strong distaste for Souls 3 (The levels in particular). Bloodborne's a given, and I haven't touched Sekiro.

Was all that guff about a free, immersive open world, filled with mystery and secrets where you can explore to your hearts content and build your tarnished your way true or not?

What I'm asking is, can I still spam sorceries like a dumb wizard or piss people off with one of those excessively acrobatic greatsword movesets coupled with flash-step?

I still cannot quite grasp why people always focus on the specifics of what they can do in Souls games. To me the biggest draw is the mood, environments, atmosphere, feels and mystery, paired with generally punishing gameplay and careful exploration. Everything else, no matter how good it might be, comes second, and ER delivers those first things in spades.

In a recent interview Miyazaki said this game is what he and From wanted DS to be from the very start, but they didn't have the skills, money and technology to pull it off so they took it step by step.

The only thing I don't like is copy pasted ruins, mines, catacombs, etc at least that's the case in Limgrave. Not exactly copypasted, but kinda have that template feeling

Is the whole word filled with these or they do add smth else to the roster?

The "legacy dungeons" can be found everywhere but few if any of them have important loot so feel free to skip them.

The ruins on the other hand should always be explored.

"legacy dungeons" are big story-related locations, like Stormveil castle or Academy of Raya Lucaria.
