Fuck those big fat butchers, their 10 hit combos and infinite stamina. They are not fun to fight.

These kind of enemies worked on Sekiro because you could parry their attacks and break their posture. Here they are a shitshow.

Also hate the giant tree rat, with its hyperactive movement making imposible to see anything.

Have had zero technical problems so far, but still not feeling any joy playing this. Open world was a mistake. Reminds me of MGS 5, a game that could have been good but ruined by a lackluster open world format. Its like every game dev has to make an open world game to really show they have "made it" and are one of the "big boys" now. I guess we can blame Skyrim for setting this precedent?

Jump attacks are very good for breaking enemies poise. Works also against many big ones.

u guys try co-op yet?
it's really fun, they made bosses get stronger with more players so it's still a challenge but co-op style

I would, but I like the unlocked frame cap and lack of player messages too much.

Right, has anybody been ever invaded by a human tryhard yet? Like ever? I'm 30h in and still nada. What gives?

Maybe invasions are hard coded for coop instances only? I've summoned a bro like twice.
Yeah you can only invade when other coop. Has anyone found a reusable item for invading?

You can invade anything. There is a red finger for it. Consumable I think.

The fact the UI disappears automatically is kinda neat, btw.

You can turn it on and off in the settings, it was an option since maybe DS2.

Defeated Ancestor Spirit. Too easy for a boss with a mini-game attached to it but very atmospheric. I enjoyed how otherworldly this whole area was. The only negative aspect were the snipers who could spot me from a great distance. Got some Anor Londo flashbacks.

I am considering a fresh start with a new character. I might try playing a more classic knight + supporting spells setup.

Don't be a pussy. There is infinite respec in the game.

Playing a righteous guy. Torn about how to interact with Sorceress Sellen, at the Waypoint Ruins.

It doesn't suit my character to be apprenticed to an apostate witch. I'm leaning towards killing her.

... but maybe she's an important character, and killing her only means I'm missing out on content. Any advice?

Killing is a mean of communication.

This is what I wanted to post.

I tried to help people to beat a high level boss. They are absolutely retarded.

Some of them are running in circles around the boss which triggers his AOE attacks. Almost all of them die instantly.

From 20+ co-op sessions I had like only 3 wins against this particular boss ... and in one case I've beat the boss alone cause the guy was shit but at least he stayed in the corner of the room :D

Bosses always got stronger when you summoned help. But they are still easier because the boss divides his attention between multiple targets. So you can heal or attack from the back.
The boss having more HP doesn't make up for that.

actually i think bosses are harder with co-op in this game
they have way more aoe and if your summoned friend dies you're stuck with a boss that has double hp

they're certainly not easier with co-op

Nope. 2 experienced players can ping-pong most bosses.

It's a disjointed mess. I've started teleporting all over the map. The immersion, the atmosphere are gone.

But I still play for the set pieces - mostly meaning - the areas around main bosses. They are larger than almost anything from DaS3.

Also I need to stand correct: I did not fight the guy on the horsie but I managed to get a magic weapon up to +9.

There are two places in the game where stones up to +7 can be farmed.

Royal castle's basement is fun

I co-op in these games quite a lot (as the summon) and it's quite fun. That is when the player summoning has lots of HP and doesn't die in two shots.

I keep seeing people with badass armor and weapons, while I'm still using regular chainmail and a claymore. Where's all the good stuff? Don't actually say so, I'm just complaining.

Picking the right summon is also a skill. In DS1-3 you want to stay away from players in knight armor and/or sword&shield.

Best summons in DS1 if you want to just beat the boss tend to be full glass cannon mages. Will burn the boss down to nothing in 4 seconds. There was an entire run where I basically did nothing but help people out with the Ornstein and Smough fight.

Btw, I keep meaning to ask - is there actually any writing or story by GRRM in this, or is his name purely decorative?

Eh, probably mostly decorative. I would describe Elden Ring's plot as GRRM-flavored Dark Souls. So still vague as shit, but you get different houses and political struggles, grimdark mini stories, etc.

Finally had some time to play today and took down Margit and Godrick. Margit took me three tries but Godric went down in one. His second stage transformation was pretty cool though.

Is this nonsense demographics explained somewhere? I mean, there are lots of castles with noble NPCs around (Irina ans her father, that Kenneth Haite fella) and their troops and convoys, etc. but not enough actual serfs or common folk to be seen. Only in the very start of the game there are what appears to be some groups of serfs digging the ground searching for something, but that's it. Where are their homes? Their villages? Etc.
Don't bother. I don't think there's even been a single game made that at least attempted to realistically simulate a medieval city and its surroundings. They just slap a castle in the middle of nowhere and forget everything about the fields, the farmers, the villages. Kingdom Come: Deliverance was the only one I remember even trying to do so.

BRO ULTIMA 5

MANY VILAGES HAD FARMS AND THE MAIN CASTLE HAD SATTELITR VILLAGES THAT WERE ALL FARMLAND

2 SHIFTS OF GUARDS NIGHT AND DAY

PEOPLE GO TO WORK GO TO LUNCH AND Dinner THEN BED
