Dark Souls 2 is the gold standard of all ARPGs. You watch your mouth, hasbro. From Software will never top that masterpiece. They certainly haven't come close with Elden Ring as much as I like it.
I reinstalled DS2 because of your shilling and played it for the first time in 5 years. I was even having fun until I got to Old Iron Keep.
SOTFS?
Never do SOTFS, not even once.
SOTFS destroyed DS2.

Notice how most of those clones are either indie games or made by smaller companies.
There aren't that many big gaming companies around and most of them stick to their own formula and old IPs, maybe you have noticed.
And even if the industry started to emulate this series, where's the negative there? Isn't Fallen Order better for emulating the Souls games instead of being yet another popemaole third person action game?
No, the old Jedi Knight games had their own thing going. Cargo cult Dark Souls is just not very good and not worth playing most of the time. It's fine if FromSoft milks this until it runs dry but I wish others wouldn't try to jump onto the gravy train.

Jedi Knight games were WAY over even before Dark Souls was released.

If Fallen order didn't copy Dark Souls it might have just been nu-Tomb Raider with light sabers instead of tits. You are delusional if you think it would have been anything other than yet another retarded modern third person crap.

I found a turtle amulet so no turtles were harmed during my playthrough.

A talisman in the shape of a green turtle.
Raises stamina recovery speed.

Turtles are known as a nutritious ingredient, symbolic of inexhaustible power.

However, those who hold turtles to be wise creatures consider the practice of eating their meat to be barbarous.

That was a good patch though. Eating some Lo Mein then going back to grind some upgrades. You guys using a wiki to find your favorite loot are imo taking away the entire point of playing the game but if you enjoy it good deal.

Really want a good whip though.

Yeah they MASSIVELY increased the smithing stone drops. When I was farming initially in the Limgrave Tunnels when I first got my Uchi, I was only getting 1 stone about every maybe 5k runes, which is a hideously low drop considering the mobs are worth less than 100 each. Went back and did a couple clears, and was getting about 1 stone per 1000 runes, so they massively buffed it. Which they BADLY needed to, in the early game unless you specifically farmed for it you simply did not have enough stones to do more than 1 weapon, so it heavily punished any kind of experimentation with styles.

Yo, I discovered the Banished set all on my own. I didn't need no wiki to tell me I was about to become Superman.

If God didn't intend us to eat turtles, He wouldn't have made them delicious and full of stam boosting goodness. Green bar go brrrr.

160 hours. Killered all the shart-bearers except for Memelenia the decaying She-God. Michael Puregold's horny uncle was a really fun boss, thankfully my pimped out armor (unaltered banished chest + gauntlets with veteran helm and legs, MASSIVE fashion, MASSIVE recommend) gives me 200 motherfucking robustness.

Feels good to look at the map and know I can ignore the whole thing except for the uh Largepeople's, uhm, Hoarfrost....Peaks? And presumably whatever crazy shit exists beyond that.

So at the current pace I figure I should be done in a year or two.

oh look its morning

Just downed my third dragon. They're actually one of the easiest bosses I think. Just stay locked on to his left leg and keep riding towards him (on the left). His fire always misses you and you get a good hit in on both his wing and left leg every time. Just back off after that to avoid his tail swipe. Piece of cake.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I haven't even bothered with any of the dragons. I should probably go back and fight at least one, just to see if they drop anything good, but they're very unappealing fights. Smack its leg, hope its mouth isn't oneshotting you from out of sight. Meh.

I'm at a point in the game where I don't have any clear direction for where to go next. I've killed Godrick and Rennala, I've visited the capital briefly and I've been to see Radahn, but both of those feel too tough for my character at the moment. My last session was spent aimlessly riding around looking for interesting shit. I don't mind that part of the game nearly as much as some, but I can tell it's going to get old if I have to do much more of it. For now at least, interesting shit is interesting.

They're really not bad at all. The only time I get oneshotted by them is from their fire breath but it's super easy to avoid on horseback.

Also if you want more direction in your game I highly recommend Skyrim. There is always a heavenly arrow guiding you on your journey, almost like a mother nurturing her infant. It's adorable.
