I've been summoned to a fair few boss fights where the host never triggered the intro cutscene and subsequently wouldn't skip the phase two cutscene either, indicating they've never in fact even faced the boss, let alone made a serious attempt at beating him.
So I guess some people just default to summoning people whenever they see a boss fight ahead of them.

Also, it's taken me until now to discover that the Small Golden Effigy is a thing, godamnit.

Gideon Ofnir makes is clear that unless you slay a demigod and claim a Great Rune, you're just a pleb guest at the Roundtable.

That makes us the only official member of the Roundtable right. Except for Gideon (by virtue of being the founder).

The assassin that killed Godwyn the Golden could qualify. But I don't think any other demigods have been killed.

Nope. The game writing is just ridiculously inconsistent in places. Vyke, who fell to the frenzied flame, was an official member of the roundtable for example. You're not even the first tarnished to get to the "must sacrifice the maiden to lit the giant's flames" part. How did they get there and why are the shardbearers still alive with their runes.. well, let's not ask the embarassing questions.

There's Ranni, if suicide counts...

that's just Gideon being an ass. It was obvious that the guy is shady right from the get go.

- yo Gideon, what the fuck? Your bodyguard just tried to whack me
- haha, classic Ensha. Never mind about that.

Guys, has anyone discovered what exact part of the lore/descriptions has been written by GRRM? Because all that i have read seems typical Myazaky Souls tropes.

Gideon is just telling you, that you are a newbie and need to prove yourself.

You know all those player messages that say shit like "Fort, Night", "Try Tongue, But Hole", "Dog!", and "Glorious Chest Ahead"?

That was him.

Well, the whole setup of the world and the character relations probably. The erdtree being a parasite feeding off of all life, while simultaneously being worshipped as a god, is classic GRRM. Miyazaki added his old badass Lord, and ancient dragons and giants that ruled before everyone else. The weebs on the team added waifus like Ranni and the spazzy weapon arts. And thus a new masterpiece was made.

Edgar and Irina, Blackguard, Gideon, Varre, Mohg and his mail-order bride, Seluvis and everything to do with his puppets, Dung-Eater, and especially Muriel and the turtles all feel like they came from him.

The degree to which you can sense GRRM's hand behind the character dialogue in this game is one of the most surprising things about it, honestly.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
The boss repeat is getting out of hand. I get some of the random mobs, like guardian statue in catacombs, crubile knights, but i reached the snow mountain and got
repeat of ansel. Ansel was super cool. The summit of few days irl of playtime, almost a dozen hours exploring the underground cities, doing ranni's quest and got this big enemy with grand arena, a big ish story revelation too about the cosmology and bestiary

It's not ideal, but honestly, for the size and scope of Elden Ring, the boss re-use is not too bad. They still have a fuck-ton of unique bosses, and if you throw in various invaders, mini-bosses, etc, I don't think there has ever been a game where you fought so many tough enemies.

I also think the people whining about the open world are overexaggerating the negatives. Yes, they lose some of the design tightness of Dark Souls games, but on the flip side, the exploration is better and the ability to wander around and level up removes a lot of the frustration factor of DaS, where sometimes you would be stuck in a bad place for a while.

My only 2 major gripes with ER so far are:

1. The combat - the retarded delayed and unpredictable and 2-frame animated attacks of many enemies make any kind of tightly timed gameplay unfun. Just a completely wrong approach to making combat more challenging.

2. The quests - really hard to do these without a wiki. The information is just not communicated clearly enough to the player in many cases.

It's not too bad, but i am kinda upset a totally unique boss with such grand set-up and setpiece suddenly have a twin in some random cave in some frozen wasteland.

It's not the boss repeat in general, but a particular boss that really wowed me in term of buildup and presentation as well as design got reused randomly.

I bet GRRM's contribution was the name Hoarah Loux. It's a GRRM-style 'exotic fantasy name', like Xaro Xhoan Daxos, Yezzan zo Qaggaz, Belicho Paenymion.

The Storm Lords of Stormveil (from the backstory) sounds like a typical Song of Ice & Fire house btw.

Yeah the two really agregious repeats are Astel being randomly found in a cave in the snowfield and random the godrick clone in an everjail.

The first time I saw that fight, after there was a message that said something like: didn't expect pathetic sort therefore despair!

It made me laugh anyway.

Speaking of messages, is there a limit on how many you can put down?

Because some of my older ones disappeared.

Yeah, I think it's like 10 or something. It will recycle the oldest, but you can put a protected status on some if you want to save your popular ones.
