i found almost all NPC invasion a joke after using aspect of the crucible: horns. just yet them up then hit them with my blasphemy sword special attack repeat. you pretty much stunlock them. works on all small to medium sized humanoids enemies

Spinning Strikes and Waves of Destruction are also guaranteed I Win buttons against npcs.

I don't understand how you souls vets keep having trouble with boss fights I had no trouble with. Rykard was like a DMC boss fight that you can't lose.

Dude, you're quoting Porky.

Yeah I mean I wasn’t expecting it at all, which I suppose is the point. The funny part was I was thinking “oh a church, maybe there’s a Site of Grace there, they’re usually pretty safe spots”. I was very wrong lol. Now that I know it’s the game that’s griefing me, I think I can kill her. I dodged her attacks for a while because I thought it was a player and figured they’d give up if I didn’t fight them, but she’s pretty slow overall and most of her attacks open her up for major windows of vulnerability. Should be easy enough when I intentionally fight her lol.

After 2 playthroughs (one with a faith dex/incantation hybrid which I respecced to arcane/faith later on to take advantage of the dragon communion seal and bleed which is absolutely broken, and one with a pure no nonsense STR 2handed greataxe build). I had way more fun with the STR build, as usual, from soft is not the best at making interesting casting gameplay although it is somewhat improved from previous games. I really enjoyed the shit out of the game. It's the first from soft game I replayed immediately after finishing and probably one of my favorite.

Paradoxically, I have more gripes with some of it than other souls :
I do not like that the open-world QOL stuff like fast travel between checkpoints doesn't deactivate within legacy dungeons : being able to teleport out of a big dungeon to refill crafting resources is lame. Crafting made the tight resource management of consumables kinda irrelevant : I wish they made more crafting mats unique like they did with trina's lilies, arteria leaves and sacramental buds, because as it stands all you need is to find grace sites close to resource clusters and fill your stock of bombs/grease. Mounted combat is shit, nothing new under the sun.
I also do not like the summoning ashes system, boss fights do not work very well with split aggro. It's especially agregious that the lategame bosses are so much harder compared to what came before that they seem to be designed with them in mind. That said, it's still a from soft game, so if you bang your head against the wall long enough solo, you end up learning the moves and they become really enjoyable. Although it took longer for me to reach the 'ah, I get it!' stage on bosses in this game (especially late game), compared to previous souls games due to not so intuitive anime moves and combos that can string into different variants.

But, the increased customization (I love the ash of war, and posture mechanics addition), the really good dungeons, and world building, made up for it. I still can't believe how well the souls formula holds up because from soft has been making the same game for what feels like eternity now.

I miss how in DS every item told a story. Here apart from a few amazingly crafted locations the design seems to be just lazy. Every square mile of terrain has to have its requisite number of caves / campsites / opponents. And oh, let's have glowing balls that, uh, actually contain unique items that previously would be at least vaguely tied to the world of the game, but now are just, well, collectibles.

Yeah, the same Porky who is wrecking hard bosses like Crucible Knight Duo and Commander Niall without ashes, summons, or cheese, unlike you. Come at me, bre.

Lolwut my game is bugged. I fought the fire giant, got it to second phase, but after the cutscene it instantly died. I was using the winged scythe if it even matter. Maybe the blood loss bugged?
Ive seen it happen, its a bug from the latest patch.

Anything with a phase transition can die like this, even mounted knights where you kill the mount, sometimes the knight just dies even though he had a ton of health left.

Lmao, so somebody summoned me for the Mimic boss and brought two summons and on top of it ran in naked. Turns out the game was smarter though because he dressed back up as soon as he entered and the Mimic copied his gear, so i guess the copy is made when you approach the boss and not when you enter the fog.

What a scrub though.

You should've pointed down and then used the finger severer.

Seems those scrubs are running into a bit of a problem in the gargoyle boss. When the second gargoyle comes down i lure him away from the host to allow him to finish off the first one but in five summons the host always gets killed.

This happens often in dual boss fights which is the result of the host never having gotten gud, but seems to be particularly pronounced here because the second i leave them to their own devices they get killed instantly.

There’s a double gargoyle fight in Elden Ring too? Is it a staple of the Souls games?
