Lol, i fought so many Ulcerated Tree Spirits by now that i was completely non-plussed when the one in the pool of rot showed up which i killed without even taking an hit besides the rot.

Finishing my bleed bonk run, this build murders everything in a minute. I had to switch ash of war for Melenia, because fuck her dance moves, instead of blood blade i used Bloodhounds step. Phase two was pretty sloppy on my part, but whatever, i'll take it.

I only got Radagon left, than i'm taking a break until dlc drops.

I must protest! Such elven dancing has nothing to do with the true power of mighty bonk!

I'm at her door step but i can't do it as real life is aggroing me. Sheeeit.

Honestly, everything beginning from Concentrated Snowfields up to Melenia is like a DLC already. Maybe it's because it is such a detour from the main course of the game but both the fact it is a detour and the difficulty just gives me that vibe, like Ashes of Ariandel in DS3 which begings in snow and ends in Sister Friede. Wouldn't surprise me if the whole thing started as a concept for a DLC then ended up having the resources to actually make it during development.

Pretty impressive if they actually decided to just include DLC content in the main package like that. I mean, FromSoft is based as fuck, so they might just have done that, but still pretty impressive.

I ended up losing patience with levelling STR and just two handing the Guts Greatsword. I didn't actually know that two handing a weapon reduced recovery time. I actually think I'll prefer it like this, especially once I can wear armour as well. I've got it +12 heavy with Lion's Claw on it, and I'm using the green turtle talisman and the great turtle shell on my back. That, my clawmark seal and bandit garb is all I can handle while being medium ATM. No secondary weapon, no second seal just for buffing. Still, this is now probably the most different looking and playing character I've made, by necessity. I love it.

I could be imagining things but for an area that's entirely skippable it just seems way too extensive and the way you access it has that DLC vibe too, like the DLC in DS1. Also the fact Melenia is the hardest boss in the game, which is the case with most DLC bosses as well (and they make them so hard precisely because they are optional and "post" main game).

We will never know but it wouldn't surprise me if that was the case. They wanted to make the biggest, most epic game evar so ended up including the DLC out of the gate lmao.

You're in for a treat, dude. I absolutely hated that bitch, but in hindsight, I've never had a boss experience like her.

I have to agree with Haplo. In what sense is a dual twinblade run a bonk run? It's basically the exact opposite.

I thought that all jump attack builds were in bonk category :philosoraptor:

Interesting, I would've said only big weapons like great hammers, great axes, and colossal weapons of all stripes. Those have a "bonk" slam, whereas dual twinblades is more like a gay swirl of a feather duster thing. Like you should be required to wear a dress and maid's apron to run that build. :smug:

The Death Poker's weapon art is sort of slow to cast, though, which imho makes it worse than many other AoE attacks like Hoarfrost Stomp.

It is a little slow yeah, but the range is decent so it's not that hard to set up. And enemies won't walk out of the trail. My impression so far was that it's busted, but maybe it could be because I was using a greataxe with the stormcaller weapon art on my first playthrough :/

Quite a flex to cut your DLC into your base game instead of cutting it out to sell later.

Lmao, ok, my first stumbling block. I decided to be a Chad and not use bleed but i think i got over my head a bit.

Got pretty decent at dodging her normal attacks, but this fucking thing has me confounded:

I guess i'll just have to try until i figure out how to dodge it but so far it's instant death every time she pulls it. She also has other instant death attacks, the lounging one, the grabbing one, but those i can dodge.

I'll report later when i manage to get to the second phase lul.

For the record, i tried a few times in co-op with the double whips and bloodhound step and i can dodge it with that but for now i want to try it "clean", assuming there's actually a clean way to beat it. I'm thinking BECAUSE there's shit like bloodhound step and other broken crap like that they designed her specifically to beat the player even with those and other broken spells and weapon arts.

Nah, it's pretty good. But other, similar weapon arts are better simply because they're faster. Flame of Redmane, Hoarfrost Stomp. It's all about speed. Anything that has even a slight charge up time will put you at a disadvantage in certain fights. Try using the Death Poker against a boss like Malenia and you'll see what I mean.

Try dodging into the attack instead of away from it.

Somebody suggested to try to tank the first volley with a shield. Didn't go well:

Gotta take a break for now i'll try again later.

I'm pretty sure you'll figure out how to do it without cheese and probably more or less clean based on some of your other fights, as long as you give it enough time to figure her moves out. It's actually a pretty enjoyable fight at that point. Frustrating as hell before then though, and kind of lame if you cheese it.

There is a clean way to do it, you got vids on YouTube, i already had loads of wipes on her and couldn't be arsed to learn how to dodge her shit like teh pro.
Basically if you are caught close by you are dead, first time she does it is when she loses around quarter of her health. The only way for me to dodge it realiably is to anticipate it at medium range and run away when she leaps, than before the last spin when she makes a little break, run to her and roll through her. Or just use bloodhoud step like a normal person:P

You can clean dodge her from point blank too, it's just hard. Even I've managed it a few times.

Best i could do for now:

I suppose i can at least reach the second phase, but it annoys me i still have to eat her third volley.

So i reach her second phase and she one shots me with a flying attack before i even know wtf is happening lol.

Cute that the rot has eaten her tits and vagina away, so she can be nikkid but not really. To be honest i actually find her kinda disturbing and ominous with her rotted flesh and limbs that fell off. Miyazaki and his sick pleasures.

If you mean the initial diving attack of the second phase,
it can easily be dodged by running towards, under, and past the boss before the dive begins. This initial attack always includes
lingering damage in an area around the boss after the dive, but this provides an opportunity to attack while the boss is stationary.
