It's the same reason why infinite respecting would also be bad.
Don't tell anyone but you can just back-up your save and try out anything you like.

You just locked yourself out from one of Elden Ring's six endings.Important update: I have located the Dung-Eater in the sewer jail and killed him on the spot.
What kind of an ending would that turd give me?
You just locked yourself out from one of Elden Ring's six endings.
For the first one, he's a copy of the guy at the Mausoleum of Blood just like Margit is a copy of Morgott. Make sure to prod the altar in his boss room. Just... don't open the gate at the bottom. There's a reason that Mohg and Morgott, despite their clashing ideologies, work together to keep what's in there locked away.Hm, I found someone called "Mohg the Omen" in the depths of Leyndell's obnoxious sewer level. I thought he's at the Mausoleum of Blood, or whatever it's called? Although I didn't get a great rune from that, so maybe it's an unrelated guy/mutant who happens to have the same name.
And who was "Godefroy the Grafted", lorewise? Are they just cloning story bosses now? The spirit of Bloodporn chalice dungeons is strong with this game.
Well, I can't. It says it's sealed byJust... don't open the gate at the bottom.
Yep. Just keep going and you'll run into him.Well, I can't. It says it's sealed byJust... don't open the gate at the bottom.the Great Lord's powerMorgoth the Grace-Given. I assume it will open after I deal with him?
Is it? Well, at least they bothered to change the name slightly. Margit/Morgot, Godrick/Godefroy, was it too hard to call that guy "Mewhg the Omen", or something?just like Margit is a copy of Morgott
In the case of Margit, it isn't laziness. He has his reasons to go around under a different name. The Mohg copy is just baffling though. And the Godefroy thing... we don't talk about Godefroy. He only has two redeeming qualities: the talisman he drops is fun and the top comment on his wiki page is:Is it? Well, at least they bothered to change the name slightly. Margit/Morgot
c'mon dawg not the gronklecock the gardened
They also didn't even give him a proper title. He's just... "the Omen" (there's omens all over the place in that horrible level). At least Margit was "the Fell Omen", whatever that means. The Mohg copy is just baffling though.
Exactly, leaving this guy alive is completely dumb unless you actually want his endingLooking it up, it seems like the "Dung-Eater" ending would turn the entire world into a literal hell. Also, he would have murdered prawn bro!
So glad I ended that fucker.
It's not hell, it's humanity. The dung eater's ending is to turn everyone into Fell, beings free from the influence of the outer gods and the endless cycle of rebirth through the Erdtree - which is itself a parasitic alien. Hell is the frenzied flame ending.Looking it up, it seems like the "Dung-Eater" ending would turn the entire world into a literal hell. Also, he would have murdered prawn bro!

To open a door, you must have a key. Unless it's "closed from the other side"The giant door at the end of the very long stone staircase that is also "Sealed by Margret the Grace-Given" is the one that leads to the next area? So I can't actually go to the Mountaintops of Giants until I deal with him?
The entity in question is an amorphous blob of gold - it can mimic anyone's appearance and reproduce like an amoeba. This is why so many things in the game are "alloyed" or "golden", this is how the erdtree/god of gold influences its assets. You will also notice the underworld is full of silver; I think the civilization in question was trying to create its own living god, and failed or was wiped out by the golden. The game is essentially a conflict between various alien gods, each with their chosen champion and consort (ranni representing the stars, fia the deathblight, marika/radagon/several others are the erdtree/gold) trying to claim dominion over the lands between and ownership of all the souls/runes within it.Wait. Marika was her own husband?! Well, thanks to everyone itt for not spoiling this for me, that's quite a twist. Hmm... don't remember if this was mentioned in the game already, but did they have children with itself? And if so, then... how?
For every ending except Three Fingers / chaos rampant, you will be able to select an option, after defeating the main quest final boss, to receive that particular ending, assuming you have met the requirements for it, which, aside from the default ending, means completing a quest line for a specific NPC. Also, you are not forced to end the game after defeating the main quest final boss, so you will have the opportunity to continue and confront the even more difficult challenges offered by Elden Ring.Anyway, after Melina's impassioned plea, I decided not to open the door to the Three Fingers. Does the game lock you into an ending, or can you choose at the end of the game which of the endings that you've unlocked you want to go with?
