Not that anyone cares, but Elex 2 sales are looking heckin' rough right now. Compare 6k player launch peak to 22k for Elex 1's launch.

Might not be that bad in the end. Player numbers aren't sales numbers, I pre-ordered E2 but haven't even installed yet, still occupied with Elden Ring. Would be true for a lot of people out there.

You are an outlier, not the norm. People who buy games at release, do so to play the game, otherwise they would buy it later at a sale.

Their publisher might try to get a deal for gamepass in a few months, at a last ditch effort to make a little more money off it.

Forgot to add that they gave Falk a fucking bow. And the only time he uses it is when an enemy is flying, he usually runs in with a stupid axe and gets knocked out in exactly 1 hit.

Jaxx is baxx as an even more consolised game unfortunately :decline:

I do like the fact that you get the jetpack right away, are actually able to kill the starting rats, and that he totally shits bricks when the jetpack runs out of juice

...what would you like me to judge the game on then?

Definitely not on exaggerations like a few steps make up for the whole staircase, nor on mocking bitterness towards things that apparently don't hurt you nor any sacred questions of life, universe and everything. Such as "May all TB and RTWP fans live together in peace and harmony, may all their foes being naughty in the eyes of RPG lords snuff it."

Mostly anything on the other side of the scale would be a good starting point.

PB conitnues their retcons and not caring about continuity tradition.
Lots of NCPs claim that they were from Goliet or the fort but weten't in Elex. old World ruins are now in better condition than before and conviniently filled with new old loot.

Not sure I buy that story. A fair number of people are super concerned about saving $5 and pre-bought the game for that reason only, but might not play it for a while because they're the same kind of people that think Elden Ring is a good game.

So, in terms of sequel quality, how you guys would rate Elex 2 in a scale of Risen 2 to Gothic 2?
On a scale of Risen 2 to Gothic 2, I'd rate this game yes.

Btw, might be just me, but I feel like the overabundance of loot ceased quite a lot after Bastion (i.e. quite early in-game, 4th level, 3 quests finished or so). Also, apart from the initial "disapointment" with the easy enemies, most of what I meet now meats me.

All of the positive reviews for Elex 2 have a variety of embarrassing caveats. "They're a small team!" "It's exactly what PB fans expect!" "This game is for people who are already familiar with PB's idiosyncrasies!" "It's not great, but it's better than Elex 1!" And on, and on. It is fucking cringe-worthy. Again, embarrassing. Watching people defend this shit is unreal, like viewing a parallel universe. What the fuck is wrong with these idiots? Are they that sensitive about criticizing a European developer that they would debase themselves in this fashion? I don't get it. It's pathetic.

All of the above can be asked of the fans in this thread. What the fuck is wrong with you guys?

rusty_shackleford that laugh track is amazing, gets a giggle every time I see it.

It's obvious from the intro they tried making a grimmer, darker game but they ended up with a Seinfeld episode

I tell you what's "wrong" with it. The same thing that has been said here already. Saying shit / stupid and mock in strong words everything that's stumbled, and is not of crystal-unicorn-peachy design. Ommiting the whole rest for the sheer fun of spite. To add to the perspective, I daresay in your kind of universe, nothing really is crystal-unicorn-peachy. And that's what's wrong.

There is a vast universe of difference between liking a flawed game, and defending a terrible one.

I like plenty of flawed games, and can like them in spite of their flaws (Outward, Morrowind) or even because of them (Deus Ex). We're not talking about a good game with some flaws. Elex was a bad, poorly made janky mess and the sequel looks to be the same. It is not "spite" to point this out. What you're calling spite is in fact the perfectly normal reaction of a person who sees a bunch of people circling the wagons for an obviously bad game -- it invites you (and the game you're defending) to get shitted upon, from great heights.

On a serious note, isn't what's a good game with flaws and what's a bad game inherently subjective? It's kind of narcissistic to assume otherwise.

I'll never understand what drives people like you to be so petty/upset at people having fun with something you don't like.
