Level 8 and I'm hoarding shit like an old bag lady in the subway. I'm not selling most weapons because they can be combined. 'Other' is broken down by trophies and raw materials and valuables. Odd that the toys, fans, lamps and other garbage are classified as 'raw materials'. How much can I sell without regretting it later for crafting or some dumb fetch quest?

i have been enjoying this a lot tbh. Like the camera and performance is still a big problem, but otherwise the world is still great.

Don't get the graphics complain. Well character models are inexcusably ugly true, they look like they were ripped off hypothetical redaxium 3, but the environment are gorgeous, there are lots of time where i just say "woow this area looks

I think navigation gameplay still hold well. Aside from the skyand scouts and the stupid limestone, i found few of the quests i have done are doable without markers. Like caja quest to find morkons, the guy said north (not exactly directly north, but i went north, then follow the main road northwest, saw morkon flag from a distance, went there and the bloodhounds were there.) The mason also said the bellhammer can be found northeast, or maybe the big city ruin. Since i think the big ruin will have scary monsters, i went northeast, and i found the hammer just fine.
I've turned the quest markers and the radar off right from the start. It quite managable, as you say, I just love that. That's RPG right there. I"m 15 hours ingame or so, and I "had" to turn them on two times so far. Both of the times I had to facepalm myself after that.

PS: Yay to the trio of the detective kids :3 Every new day I see them running around making advancements in their case, at different places with different people.

The game is becoming a meme.

5:11 - LOL

Jax's 5 year old son has a jetpack too...because of course he does.

I finally got a little bit of time to play this and it seems PB so far.

First day I only put in about 30 minutes because I was jet packing up to the 3rd floor of the nearest tower and fell to my death. I thought Jax would grab the railing but he decided not to.

Normally that wouldn't bother me but I was just playing Dying Light 2 and was kind of used to a player character that would use a nipple on a 7 foot zombie as a ledge to grapple on. Being waist high next to a railing and not having the effort to stick your fucking arms out kind of bugged me a bit. Next day I tried it again and was able to grab the railing so I don't know what was up with that.

2nd day I did a few quests, explored a bit and it's what one would expect from this developer. Writing/voice acting is shit but serviceable. Graphics are crisp Xbox 360 running on Xbox one Era. I have a 3070 and noticed a bit of frame rate drops and even a 7 second freeze opening a chest which is pretty shitty but expected until the 5th patch or so.

I'm liking it though. It's nice to play a Eurojank game once or twice a year.

It's strange, because in most of the in-depth reviews and impressions I've come in contact with on the game stated that the quest design was good, often times with several different options and outcomes available. Perhaps we can get Hellion to weigh in on this, considering he's probably the only person here who finished the game?

Quests with one possible outcome do exist ("kill 5 monsters around our base", "escort X person to Y base", "collect the sensors Z scientist placed in that monster den" etc), especially in the earlier stages of the game or as "intro quests" when first visiting a settlement. But this is definitely not the vast majority of quests in the game. There's lots of instances where you have to pick sides (eg help the Bounty Hunters or protect their victim-target), choose between stealth and violence, choose to turn someone over to the authorities or aid him, and other stuff like that, all with their own smaller or larger consequences. And this is true for both simple side-quests and companion quests (I remember a few of them which even offer the choice to banish or kill said companion in the end).

and I shall continue my torture for science

intro/start is much worse than the rest of the game(so far)
abilities suck honestly, mostly generic +x damage. Gutting cleric sucks. No jedi mind trick sucks. Essentially offloading cleric onto alb but without mind trick sucks.
performance is ass, especially in any of the town areas
companions are worthless, less than worthless if you have the lone wolf ability. Only one that isn't a complete dunce is CRONY, AI is even worse than the first game because they'd at least favor using ranged weapons in the first one. Can't count the number of times a companion has just deadlocked themselves into switching between ranged/melee without attacking. They all seem to favor using their melee weapon + slow attacks so they can never hit anything moving, etc.,
attribute bonuses are so tiny I can't tell if they're mocking us for complaining there weren't any bonuses before.

the flashbacks are amusing because it lets you directly contrast the faces and how much worse they look now. Nasty looks fucking hilarious tbh.

Thanks for spending money on the game though.

I seen streamer playing it. CAJA HAS SHOES. That's horrible abomination of a game which fucks everything.

I was totally right they FUCKED JAX model, there was even cutscene with old model, and new model looks TOTALLY horrible as if some cosplayer did that. And IIRC there was a concert of Billy Idol.

That game has basically fuck all self consistence with previous ELEX and it looks like some brown small director was in charge instead of original team.

not sure if this should be considered a good or bad thing, but the NPCs have oblivion-esque conversations just saying nonsensical lines to each other.
e.g., male trader just said to female NPC
"Apparently they're still in Goliet"
and she followed it up with
"That's gotta be the craziest thing I ever heard!"

just sit in a bar at night to listen to how insane it sounds

think it might actually be worse than oblivion because it at least tried to sync up matching lines(?), they just respond randomly.

Ok, I must refrain myself. I actually love quests in Elex 2. All the little details that went into characters knowing each other, and sometimes refering to what you've done or not have done prior to their quests. Things happening on their own without PC participating. 3 different ways to solve one simple task... And again, children detectives... I'm having a blast.

Limit fps in nvidia/amd control to 60 or 72 (if 144 Hz setting on and vsync). I always do that, you notice next to no difference ('cept autist or online-shooter), but it will prolong the life of your gfx card substantially.

Edit: I can't play it. The fish-eye zoom out-in camera movement when you start-stop running is driving me nuts.

That is steep incline, Gothic 1&2 had completely ridiculous conversations like that aswell.
They were absolutely great in German, included some wonders of writing like "Es wird nichts so heiß gegessen wie es gekocht wird" and "Verlass dich auf jemanden, und du bist verlassen".

The blame for the lack of & poor marketing falls squarely at the feet of THQ Nordic.
You guys must not understand how marketing works. THQ Nordic saw the game ahead of time, and they probably anticipated the poor reviews. So rather than hyping a game that was just going to get slammed by critics, they hid it to protect their reputation as well as Piranha Bytes' reputation. So now if PB's next game is good or if they just patch this one into a better state, THQ can market it normally instead of having to run damage control.
