What the fuck is up with Beth fanboys acting like there aren't any bugs in the game? My friends game is rife with bugs on the PS4, not to mention all the official and user-reviews that have mentioned the same thing. These fuckers are just in denial, lying bitches.

Didn't play Witcher at release but heard lots of bad things about its release and for me GTA was a broken piece of [censored] on release

seems like a lot of plain old luck is involved in each experience.
No dickhead, there isn't any "luck" involved in programming errors fucking up your game...it's going to happen because that error exists in the code.

Actually, for a massive open world game the amount of gamebreaking bugs on launch is remarkably few.
Oh for gods sake you donkey, pull your head out of the sand...The Witcher 3 had far less bugs, pull Beths cock out of your mouth.

Metacritic scores are important to developers, and not just for bonus reasons. A high metacritic score game on your CV can make your career.

Long-term, it's not great for Bethesda if they're now going to become a "lower 80s developer". So they'll probably try to address some of their weaknesses, since they do have the time to do so.

If true, then this industry is even more retarded then I previously thought. And I didn't think much of it to begin with.

That's just not true. Software errors happen for all sorts of reasons unrelated to code: bad drivers, overheating, cosmic rays, etc.

When you want to have a new job, you're expected to have some good references from your previous employers.
But I agree, Metacritic seems to be biased to what they deem acceptable, and most of the time they just publish western reviews. For instance, Russian reviews seem to be a bit more severe from what I've seen.

We all know why these bugs are in the game, and they're not from cosmic rays. Bethesda has been perfecting game-braking bugs for 20 years now.

I'm totally not surprised at Witcher 3 winning the mainstream fans, there's plenty of amazing goodwill built up from the months of updating and free content they provided.
The Witcher 3 is not entirely without bugs at release, but they had enough time to deal with the aftermath of it and came out of on top by not selling $2.00 skins and instead releasing them for free over content updates.

Fallout 4 is only out for roughly a month, there's not enough time to gather enough goodwill to translate into votes.

Remember the VGAs aren't a user vote thing, though. They're selected by a "professional" jury of well-connected game journalists.

The Witcher 3 winning is just essentially the Bioware-like cinematic RPG formula winning over the less polished and less cinematic Bethesda one. A good way for the VGAs to demonstrate their alleged "independence", too.

Its a win of 2015. against 2002. strictly from technical point.
RedEngine 3>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Gamebryo as it is normal and expected.
If Bethesda had contemporary engine if this version of TES then FO4 would be GOTY no matter the RPG subgenre.
Most people like hiking more than story.

So I've run into a pretty serious bug, where I can't initiate dialogue with roughly 50% of NPC's. They'll give an opening remark, but the dialogue wheel won't come up. Mostly this only affects traders, which is merely annoying, but it also affects a couple of the quest-giving and plot-important NPCs, making it impossible for me to progress without switching to another faction and starting with them instead. I've played pretty much every single Bethesda-released Gamebryo RPG, and this is the first time I've encountered such a large scale bug. I even played New Vegas at launch and never encountered a bug that broke the game so fundamentally.

I think this is a pretty good point to just stop. I was already losing interest in continuing the main plot, and I'd made my character grossly overpowered to the point where he could one-shot deathclaws with a fucking Walther PPK pistol, so there was little enough reason for me to continue before the game basically locked me out of its own content. Probably gonna wait a year and see if mods have indeed fixed it to any noticeable degree.

If you really think electron migration or cosmic rays flipping bits are leading causes of software failure, your computer privileges should be revoked. Programmer error is to blame 99.99% of the time. You can argue about whose lossage was the greatest, the guy who wrote the driver or the guy who didn't understand the API, but ultimately someone writing software was to blame.

Gaming as an artistic medium has an awful professional review scene.

Say what you want about movie critics and snobs, but I find their aggregate consensus to be on or around the mark more often than not. I really can't say the same about gaming.

Here is an interesting review:

Humorous, but the fact the guy states it's worth a buy and wagging his finger to Bethesda just makes me frown. It really feels weak to the amount of bullshit he just listed, especially the interface and keybinding is fucking hell and any other company would've been insulted and disgraced for such shit, only to just say "oh yeah, totally spend 60 dollars on this, cuz shootin' shit is fun". I rather spend 10 bucks on a game that's all about the gunporn and makes combat for any shooter look like shit: Killing floor 1 or 2.

Moo?
Bethesda really missed some opportunities with this game. We have a settlement system, a main character who can learn hacking and how to manipulate robots, and the ability to jerry rig your own computers complete with Robco operating system.

If you have high Intelligence, and the two aforementioned skills why not make it an option to claim un-activated Protectrons and their pods in a cleared dungeon? You could choose which settlement to send it to, and with what personality settings. Construction opens up unique building options in that settlement, Medic improves happiness and makes your settlers hardier during an attack, Law Enforcement can be a much stronger participant in defense, the Subway Officer...umm, can collect tolls from those who visit and they'll go to your workshop? One or two Protectrons per settlement, max.

A lot of the shit you should be able and willing to re-appropriate is just left there to rot. Hack the shit out of the Sentry Bot in the junkyard and make him your personal companion! Or send him out on strike operations that soften up a tough target. Turn the General Atomics Galleria into a partially automated settlement, etc.
