You can bring the pulse gun, Vault 22 farming tech and the targeting device for Helios One to the Brotherhood as part of Veronica's quest. You're also required to find a piece of technology in an irradiated crater if you want to get power armor training from them.

That's not even going into the realism of the thing. I mean the Apollo mission burned like 5 tons of rocket fuel per second.

Fallout's not hard sci-fi dude. Giant scorpions and all that. I doubt the rocket got too far since the ghouls return to help defend Novac in some of the endings.

Aside from which, I don't remember anyone saying the Novac rocket quest was some highlight of the game anyway. As for the bomber, the Boomers already had one on the base, they needed a few parts from the sunken one (which by the way, is a real thing - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1948_Lake_Mead_Boeing_B-29_crash and the site is still preserved to this day.)

Which other quests did you have a problem with?

Fallout 4's weapons are pretty stupid looking in general, but the super sledge is definitely the worst. Seems like they opted to value uniqueness over cool or practical looking weapons, it's even immersion breaking at points, like in Kellogg's head movies, when going to get revenge he whips out that goofy looking assault rifle and the situation turns from tragic to comical. Have you seen that thing? It looks like a big fat nigger dick:
assault_rifle.png
From my understanding, the ASSaultrifle is actually a machinegun, similar to the WW2 .30 cal uuuh browning? The distinctive originally water cooled blob around the barrel shows it's cousin and the big hole below the barrel hints towards it normally being a mounted gun. Gameplay wise, it is meant to give people in powah armoah a slightly oversized gun, in line with the big hands. I would have preferred the .50 cal FO tactics used and not in the hands of random raiders, only strong supah mootants. But meh.

The combat rifle on the other hand just yells a design oversight that nobody noticed until late development:
"Oops, we don't have a potent semi/auto rifle between the 10mm pistol/hunting rifle and the much higher tier assault rfile! Let's quickly put a different cocking handle on the combat shotgun, slap the sniper rifle's muzzle break on it and be done with it. Also lower the Tommygun's dmg, so it becomes the entry level .45 weapon. Crisis averted!
What do you mean the Tommygun is obsolete before you even get .45 ammo? Deal with it!"
:hearnoevil:

Seriously the muzzle break on the combat rifle makes it look like some retarded frankengun, plus the soundeffects are far too weak for the dmg it deals.
On the other hand, weird gun design descisions are a tradition in Fallout games:
The Boozar from FO2 that became a machinegun (because they progression lacked one) instead of the sniper rifle the description says?
The FN FAL that had no place in this world?
The varmint rifle, that used 5.56 instead of the homemade low end ammo, because it couldn't blow people up otherwise?
Or my favorite: the marksman's rifle in FNV, complete with carbon optic straight out of a cock of duty game, a massive break with the overall world design just to please some most downloaded mods. Seriously Sawyer, WTF?

Thankfully, the game allows me to stick with my 10mm auto/hunting rifle/sawed-off shotty for most of the game, with VATS the 2 shot capacity of the latter is a non-issue.

Moo?
That's not even going into the realism of the thing. I mean the Apollo mission burned like 5 tons of rocket fuel per second. And you just get 10 rocket toys and they're off. How is this any better than a dog following a scent? If anything it's magnitudes worse.

The ghouls' rockets were a fraction the size of those used in the Apollo flights, and used a different material. Fallout tech before 4 was crazy efficient when it came to atomic energy. Energy cells meant for weapons could fuel vehicles, power armors could operate for a hundred years off their charge and even in Fallout 4 there are buildings that have been running off the same Fusion Core since before the war. If you think about it (I try not to) the systems in all those derelict cars are still somewhat functional too or they wouldn't go up like tac-nukes. It was fossil fuels and other resources that they went through like it was water. Just a couple of those toys were equal to a container of the Isotope-239 igniting agent, and if you went into a room of the things and took out rad measuring equipment it would light up. Robco just has the worst oversight imaginable.

He also had a problem with viability of such a project, as if it's never been done before.

Arguing with taterjan is pointless, he's willfully ignoring the laziness and outright stupidity of Bethesdian "design".

Well I agree that particular gunsight is out of place in Fallout, here's Sawyer's comment on the matter: According to J.E. Sawyer, the marksman carbine is loosely based around "paratrooper-oriented marksman rifles" and are present due to New Vegas' proximity to Nellis AFB.

Considering that this (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AR-15) is already in-game as the Service Rifle, I'll assume Sawyer meant the marksman carbine to be a variant of the SR. Much like how in real life the M16 and M4 followed the 50s-era AR-15.

It's not the existence of a semiauto paratrooper version of the servicerifle/assault carbine that bothers me, it's the break with overall design theme.
The service rifle is a m16 with bakelite instead of plastic. I really like it.
The assault carbine is just a copy of the real life 60s era gun. Would have preferred it service rifle style as well, but okay.
But the marksman carbine is OUR world's 21st century design. It sticks out like a sore thumb.
Everything in this game is either 50s/60s our how they imagined the future would look back then, except that rifle.

It doesn't matter if Sawywer thinks it's cool, if your task is to design a retro world and your designer codes you an Ipad, he failed his assignment.

Imagine they would have placed a current time Camaro in the game as the "newest corvega before the war". Nerd rage would have followed...

Are we talking about the assault carbine (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Assault_carbine) or the marksman carbine (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Marksman_carbine)? I agree the latter is out of place, but not the AC which is just a full-auto Service Rifle.
As I said, the AC is "okay" even though I would have preferred it's look closer to a shortened SR.

But the MC is just wrong. No redeeming qualities. Epic fail.
Makes you wonder who greenlighted that, or if it's just another case of why Obsidian suck at managing skills.

Wiping Metzger when you get to him is hard without drugs.
Wiping Metzger was only hard because of the AP ammo bug. Luring enemies behind walls so you can gib them with a 10mm burst was a solid plan if it weren't for dealing 0 dmg.

That said, drugs are awsome in FO4. Psychojet and uuh Psycho (?) stack for bullettime + 50% extra dmg. Plus Grapes for bartering/less reloads during conversation and Berries for some minor detect life at times.
At the end of the Silver Shroud quest, you have about 0.5 seconds to kill a guy before he shots his hostage. Even with all those drugs I still had to reload a few times because... fucking bulletsponges at higher levels. :argh:

Met my first ASSaultrons the other day. Forget Derpclaws, they are the top dogs now. Fast, evade your shots and IMA FIRIN MUH LASAH. Two of them at the same time were only possiburu by getting high and blowing their legs off. Fun times.
How weak Derpies are compared to them became obvious when the game bugged out and spawned one in the Co-op when I fasttraveled there. Being too big for the doorway sucks. Evolution is a bitch.

Somehow FO4 still has an 84 on Metacritic.

"The world, exploration, crafting, atmosphere, and story of Fallout 4 are all key parts of this hugely successful sandbox role-playing game. Great new reasons to obsessively gather and hoard relics of happier times, strong companions, and sympathetic villains driving tough decisions make it an adventure I’ll definitely replay and revisit" - IGN

I dont think there is any particular logic when it comes to weapons.
The FN FAL got into service in 1954 and even Fallout 1 had a Desert Eagle, Fallout 2 had so many weapons from whenever....

When it comes to the modern weapons in NV im more pissed of about the curvature of the Mag and the capacity, autism, yes.

I hate the pipe weapons in fallout 4.... the only one that would make sense isnt in the game: the shotgun, rifles need rifling, pipes dont have rifling.
Fuck i hate most guns in FO4, where have all the normal guns gone?... Stores are still full of good food but no normal guns can be found.
The whole fo4 world doesnt make a lick of sense...

It warms my bitter heart to see people going critical on Fallout 4. This video in particular hits on one of my biggest complains WRT 'missing' the spirit of Fallout completely. At 5m22s he covers the fundamental misunderstanding (or just outright removal) of the cynicism in Fallout.

The pipe weapons are a neat idea, but they went a little too overboard with their effectiveness. Outclassing a Tommygun with a weapon made from indoor plumbing and a 2x4 is a little... weird. But with the weapon mod benches present everywhere, it is not too much of a stretch that they actually have rifeling inside.
If I ever start a new playthrough (still at least 6 to go), I will ignore building mods myself though. Stripping parts from looted weapons and switching them okay, but how did I manage to stretch the laser barrel from pistol to sniper size by disassembling Jangles the moon monkey? Yeah I know: "It just works."

From what I gathered, the military switched to energy weapons, while police stuck with common arms. The military depots are obviously plundered by Gunners everywhere, since they field combat armor, uniforms and laser weaponary.
Combat rifles/shotguns were not in high supply anymore, so they are relics or taken from police stations. The ASS rifles are mostly likely removed from APCs or other mounts.

And the low end weapons are just what every upstanding 'murican patriot has at his home to evoke his right to arm bears when he finds one.
:kwafuckyeah:

Why anyone would slap a scope on a combat shotgun without slugs is beyond me tho...

I had a run in with a Sentry, fought him in PA and still had to use stimpacks and food items a lot.

But hardest enemy was SWAN, well he would be if he does not spawn as you enter a semi closed shack that he cannot reach you inside. So you just take pot shots while dodging his rocks. You use up a lot of bullets but win. Game is full of such stupid stuff.

Wasteland.
Kind of funny how easy it is for Melee/Unarmed users to grab their "god tier" weapons and be done of the game so quickly: just go East. Seriously, not shitting you, just go East. If you've found that super mutant camp of the settlement with a unique missile launcher wielding-super mutant, you can find the super sledge there. Harder to find than unarmed, but much faster. For Unarmed, just travel to Salem, and do the Devil's Due quest, and grab your gauntlet. Kind of derpy to be this fast, but eh.

Sentries, Swan and Behemoths can't enter buildings due to their size, ASSaultrons on the other hand come in and drag you out by your hair. While calmly talking to you. Scary shit. I approve.

That's why I want a KLEO companion mod. Probably not only me, Beth should consider a KLEO DLC. But don't forget to have her talk about carrying my burdens.

Beth already missed the kickass pun with NotGarrus at the quarry. When he goes of to work on the pump, does he say is he is making calibrashuns? NOPE. Try again Todd.

The "arrow to the knee" meme was certainly annoying, but it gave Skyrimjob extra advertising and popularity.
Skyrimjob had the arrow.
FO3 had... dunno, steel be with you? ThreeDawg?
FNV had patroling the mojave.
FO4 has... nothing. Hate newspaper was a dud.

Kind of surprising that the marketing department didn't realize how important that is these days.
