Can you guys help me with something.... Why can't no one tell apart humans from synths? I can't be bothered to finish this game, but I'm kinda curious. A blood test or an x-ray or something like that could probably tell you if the guy is actually made from blood, bone, hair and muscle.
Gen 3 ARE made from blood, bone, hair and muscle.
You can watch them made here

Computah' magic or people in TES: Boston are morons. Your choice.

Edit: They are cyborgs but have 'synth component' when killed, that thing is made from plastic and connected with brain or acts like brain.

If Bethesda had actually read the material that they had stolen the synths from, they could have had some sort of Voigt-Kampf test or a Turing Test. (And no, the one outside of Covenant? does not count)

Why? It's exactly Voigt-Kampf. GOAT questions provoke reactions, which are measured by hidden polygraph.

Expecting anything in this 3d fallout universe to make any sense whatsoever is ridiculous, including a lot of the shit in new Vegas.

This is the reason the Covenant went batshit with their testing/torture to develop a foolproof way of identifying Synths. It became too much trouble seeing if Synths smelled/felt/sounded like a human. They did. So the Covenant had to look for defects in the psychology. Doesn't excuse them for what they did, though.

Also, Gen 3's are one thing but what about the one that fooled Diamond City? Did they just not look very closely? Even the best of the Gen II's flat out don't look right.

While trying out the lowered carry capacity mod, I supposed that with STR investment, I should be able to overcome the 100 carry weight limit.
Hence I put 25 points per STR increase and hopped into the PA armor in Concord at lvl 1.
Final encumbrance maximum with STR 1 and Power Armor on? 350.
Wtf? It seems Beth has done it again.
Even if you have STR 1, putting on Power Armor boosts it up to STR 10.
This has the same deal even if you have STR 5 - it'll boost you up to STR 10. No more than that.
If you have BoS Knight paint on, it'll give STR 11.
Wow. Just wow.

Well it is technically exoskeleton, you are not using muscles but power-frame servo-motors to do the work for you.

It even has a 20% success chance! No synth is safe from the powah of the GOAT!

That was a gen 3 already. I remember reading/hearing somewhere, that G3s can't be revealed as such unless you disect them, since they are pretty much clones with synth components for improvement.
Valentine on the other hand is only a gen 2.5. Still the metal exoskeleton with rubber skin, but the implanted memories/personality of a human volunteer. A little above mister handy. VC accepts him because he is not "hiding" what he is. The danger you can clearly see can be avoided if you choose to.

That makes me wonder:
If you choose to keep Synthshaun, does it mean he would continue to grow and age like a normal human? Would be at least a nice conclusion if you choose to blow up the Institute

Goes back to the question, what's the fucking point of these things? You've already got obedient robots that will fulfill their programming on the surface without complaint for hundreds of years.

Because they CAN'T. Even in real life, people are bad at it.

The question that should be asked is, "DOES IT MATTER?". Because the Duck Equivalence Principle says that it doesn't.

Well I had a random event where two identical people were in a standoff, both claiming to be real and the other a Synth. Eventually managed to charm one of them into admitting (to me in whisper) that he was the Synth, and this guy managed to stumble upon him before the planned hijacking. He was going to be in real big trouble back home (the Institiute) if this got out, so could I do him a solid and help him kill the original?

So I told everyone to calm down, lower their weapons....and gave the original the go ahead to off his copy.

"Wait, wha-"

*Blam blam*

During the standoff the Synth had mentioned his wife and children at home several times, with the original growing increasingly pissed off they were being brought into this. And I had to wonder what their fate would eventually be. So yeah the Synth's fate was sealed 'cause he wanted to play mind games.

typical bethesda writing.
i met them, i tried to end the matter without bloodshed, i thought i found it, everyone on his own way and then the synth "now i'll have to dig two graves" and starts shooting. and of course, being horribly outnumbered and outgunned, the synth just exploded in seconds.
this makes them automatically evil AND stupid. worst kind of antagonist ever.

You'd have to perform that test daily, since they replace existing people while no one is looking.

before posting stuff, please say if it's positive about the game and you're reporting it to show the decline or ridicules it in any way.

Thats actually stupid, because they are not afraid of synths. The are afraid of the Institute. What if he is a spy? What he is a kidnapper? What if one day he will go haywire? Those questions aren`t even rhethorical, they may be true.

I don't see how opinions are more polarized for Fallout 4 than for Fallout 3. You have the same people hating everything Bethesda does with Fallout and then the rest of us who spend most of our time actually playing the game and having fun. When Fallout 10 comes out, it will be the same. The TES series doesn't have this issue because they were all made by the same company.

Just look at this donkey....can anyone really be so completely stupid.

Long time lurker here registered just to say one thing - this is the worst fucking game ever. Like what the fuck... this is not even hiking simulator, this is a fucking holocoaster tycoon theme park shooter bullshit. I hated Fallout 3 since it came out but this is another level of bullshittery... Styg and his Underrail is all the hope that's left apparently.
