You get new location that's probably twice the size of New-Rino, plus some new armors and weapons. You can't access new location with a map and need to find a NPC to guide you there (like Enclave from Fallout 2)Does anyone know about Fallout Sonara Dayglow DLC?
Found its soundtrack while perusing Nobody's Nail Machine's Bandcamp site.
Some fun facts about Dayglow from the Fallout Wiki;
- Dayglow, originally known as San Diego,[Non-game 1] is a city in the wasteland circa 2162 near the site of the Glow. Dayglow was later incorporated into the New California Republic as both a city and its surrounding area as one of five states during Tandi's presidency.
- F1: Butch Harris mentions having lived there, and grew a third-nut consequently
- Mentioned on FNV's caravan table
Finished the base Sonora, but the Polish translation for Dayglow came out, so I'll talk about them both once I finish the expansion.
Dayglow is so far massive, with a lot of new sprites (new ghouls wearing leather jackets, suits, dresses and rags) and art (billboards and road signs, posters, new weapons like police taser and emergency RobCo EMP tool).
New music is absolutely great, really setting the mood as you explore the burned out ruins.
Ghouls are pretty racist towards normal humans in dialogue but also refusing to offer services or jacking up prices. It'll be really interesting how it changes when you play as ghoul.
Certain minor character from Fallout 1 appears (there's also one from New Vegas in base Sonora). Harold and Seth were mentioned several times.
NMA user Gustarballs offered to work with me on the translation from Polish to English, we'll be starting once we finish Dayglow.
If any Polish Codexers want to help, DM me for details.
Or at least anyone know how to do it myself? To extract the text and put it back in?

It's very easy, you just need a notepad (personally I'd recommend Notepad+) plus English fonts (these can be just copied from vanilla Fallout 2).
Later you'd have to go over the text and probably check it out in the game as machine translation often loses the context of some terms and has issues with Fallout terms (caps, Followers of Apocalypse, etc).

I downloaded the fallout sonora 1.11 but it doesn't have TEXT in the data folder

Yes, you need to extract .msg files from .dat archives. You can use the program
https://github.com/adamkewley/fo2dat
https://www.nma-fallout.com/resources/dat-explorer-by-dims.56/
Alternatively you can download the Polish translation, it has .msg files already extracted.

If you do machine translation this way, then watch out for the Observers- author translated the word "followers" into that.
I've a question though, while translating, I saw some dialogues in mexican? Do those need translating too or am I meant to leave those in mexican?
So far decent progress, I've done 39 files out of 669 before reaching the cap.
I'm probably going to be doing about that much, 39 a day until the weekend, when I can do 120-160 a day, so probably will be done next week or so.
So far seems fine, the dialogue has flow and nothing seemed out of place, though I just read it in passing, we'll see how it works out in-game.
I'll be done soon as well, though I'm not going to do the menus and special stuff like that, or even bother going through any passes for it.Lol, seems like the entire world got tired of waiting for the official translation.
A dude and I are pretty much finished with a translation based on yandex (objectively the best at doing RU <> EN) for the base game, I’ll post it here in the next few days.
We’ll only do a quick pass to check that nothing is illegible or too broken and then release it, no perfectionist development hell allowed. Will there be jank? Sure, but nothing that impedes your understanding of the game.
FWIW the Spanish itself on the OG is janky as fuck, so it’s not like you’d be missing on literary quality prose.
Just a heads-up to save guys the hassle of working on something that’s pretty much done

Is there a paid version you're using of yandex? Or the free one?Lol, seems like the entire world got tired of waiting for the official translation.

Chat GPT still seems better than DeepL, it gets the flow much better and the general "eloquence", here's an except:What about DeepL? I found that it's often better (more natural) than ChatGPT 4, although ChatGPT is surprisingly good at understanding (and even explaining) slang, jokes, puns etc.
Here's an except from chat gpt:
{100}{}{You see a guard.}
{101}{}{Before you is a caravan guard. He is resting after a tiring journey.}
{110}{}{Hello. How's the road?}

The flow isn't as good and it isn't as nice to read, kinda like driving a car without any suspension in eastern europe lol.And same one from deepL:
