My review of Sonora with Dayglow expansion without any spoilers. I'll be making a separate post with spoiler tag.
Thanks for the review! It is very informative.
I have a question: what level were you when finished the main campaign and Dayglow dlcs? I'd like to know how liberal I can be with skillpoints and perks.

So, my fellow nerds, here it is! The
FALLOUT SONORA TRANSLATION

Made by yours truly and a fellow called Violator from the Sonora discord that came to my aid. It’s a machine translation (Yandex), but the game is playable all the way though without any other difficulties than accepting some ESL-tier English mistakes.

How does it work? Get Fallout: Sonora + DLC, Extended Release by Foxxx from RUtracker, which is essentially FO:S with the DLC and injected sfall. Then download the contents of the dropbox folder with the translation and replace everything in the Russian version. You’re ready to go!
If you’d prefer the vanilla version of Sonora, get the master.dat from dbox and the file called Dayglow_DLC.dat (inside the /mods folder) but rename it to patchDLC.dat, then replace them inside your install folder.

Known bugs in the sfall version (i.e. not the translation’s fault): burst attacks cause CTD. There are some other random items like the Geiger counter that also CTD when used in hand. Gotta wait for the modder to fix it. If you need to bypass this but don’t want to live without sfall of the Extended Release, you can transfer the savefile to vanilla Sonora, do what you have to, then transfer back to the ER.

The files in the dropbox folder will get updated as I find stuff to fix, but at this point, there shouldn’t be much left to do.

Stuff to report:
Untranslated dialog, write down the name of the character and its location.

Don’t bother reporting:
Untranslated UI. Violator might get to fixing that, but no promises. It shouldn’t affect your ability to play the game in any way, you already know where the AP counter is.
Dialog that’s not idiomatic. Fix it yourself, I don’t care.

Did you post that on the no mutants allowed forum too?

Why would you play an automated translation with bad English when the official English translation is so close to completion?
:retarded:
It's been close to completion for quite some time.

I decided not to wait any longer and play with a very decent Polish translation. But I hope you guys can now also play in English.

Is it really close to being finished or they just saying that? It doesn't help that we don't have access to it to verify it.

This is a translator and moderator from the Fallout Sonara discord just a week ago. Just wait a few more months.

"not really a manpower problem" What? What does that even mean? Why isn't it done then if it's not a manpower problem?
Why do they need another several more months for a "not a manpower problem"? Does it take 2 weeks to zip it up, and another 4 weeks to upload it?

You should edit out the link, the police might come and give you a strike.

There’s no piracy in that link tho, only a dat file that affects in no way a clean install of Fallout, nor that would enable anyone to pirate the game.

Diggfinger yeah, it’s a persistent link where I’ll push any updates that might come in the future, I just checked it and it’s working. Try a different browser perhaps?

:retarded:
Because they're taking their sweet time, and people are tired of waiting?

I've been playing a machine translated Sonora because I grew tired of this official translation project...

Ok, enjoy your stupid automated translation that refers to bottlecaps as 'lids', thinks 'husband' is a gender, has missing characters in the text and doesn't even work during cutscenes.

I'm getting conversations where NPCs refer as strangers as "aliens", and other machine errors, and I'm honestly having a blast.

It wasn't for you but for him, he linked to ruttracker directly.

I've been on the sonora translation teams discord for a long time and I would be VERY surprised if the retards working on it ever finish it.
They also regularly refuse random russians/russian speakers who join and ask to help because they're afraid the translation might be leaked(why would they care?)

Mutants rising will 100% be finished before the sonora translation team.

So far for my mexican chatgpt version I've done the dialogue for the master.dat (main) stuff, all that's left is the dayglow dlc and some technical stuff.
I won't add the mexico thing to the technical translation.

So, so far, I think 50% done? The dayglow dlc one is about 1/5th the size of the main one, so maybe more than 50%?

Played the DLC, got to the Old Town. It's decent so far. Dayglow has this atmosphere of a big city that I've never experienced in classic Fallouts. A huge amount of new art assets and the fact that the city is one big map helps that a lot. I also like that characters react to me being mutant. I get discounts from my ghoul brothers, and human prospectors attack me on sight.

So far the only two things that concern me are: writing and quests. There is a guy that directly quotes Big Lebowski, there is a supermutant whos name is Private Pyle, and some ghoul schmuck called me «bratish» (a sort of cringy gopnik version of «bro» — not very 50s americana). A stark contrast with the base Sonora, where references were mostly discreet.
And quests. I was bombarded by a bunch of fetch quests. Go and find new strings for a guitar, go and find 5 books to trade them for a robot AI, bring a monorail control part to another town to fix it, find some coffee, find some booze, etc. They sort of play into the theme of ghoul refugees trying to establish a new settlement in a very hostile region, but they feel lame. I hope some of these quests will turn into rabbit holes with branching paths and C&C, but I keep my expectations low (which is hard, considering the relatively high quality of quest design in base Sonora).

Instead of translating the mod for free and doing something actually useful you see schizo walls of text(not counting the random furry and loli porn that gets spammed in that discord) like that.

ovcKBDt.png

Fetal alcohol syndrome is a hell of a drug.

Also to add, these guys refuse to make the translation open source, and actively censor auto translated versions of the mod in their discord.
