I'm witholding judgement until I get to play the demo.
TBH, FF has historically some shit demos.

The best one/s hilariously enough was arguably FFXV's. And technically those were among the most deceiving too.

The biggest problem with Final Fantasy 7 Remake is the gameplay, which while having some good ideas also comes off like a half assed Dragon’s Dogma

There is literally nothing about the combat, progression, classes, maps or gameplay in FF7R that has anything to do with Dragon's Dogma. FF7R is a piece of shit that builds off of the success of FFXV and the millions of retards who continue to vouch for its one-button, one-hallway, one-neuron gameplay design.

The combat in FF7R has more to do with Dragon’s Dogma than FF15...which it plays nothing at all like. FF7R is basically a bad version of Dragon’s Dogma combat. It’s like Dragon’s Dogma with the DMC lock-on, (which means a loss of manual aiming) but without jumping, or the grab/climbing on enemies; but with a universal evasion and block. The has meter management similar to Dragon’s Dogma, but the aesthetic of it is FF7 ATB and Limit Break and is more simple to read at a glance. It has the exact same hot key system for special moves as Dragon’s Dogma, but also adds a classic Final Fantasy menu to select everything. The menu system, and the addition of being able to change characters was a nice addition.

Overall though hitting stuff doesn’t feel as nice. I can’t remember if you have some DMC styles combos like DD does though.

I was one of the people who actually really liked the initial concept of Versus XIII (dark "modern" fantasy metropolis setting). The countryside road trip that it eventually turned into was a huge slap in the face. But I hate Nomura, so maybe Versus XIII would have been shit too.
Nomura is still going to make it. The project is called "Verum Rex" now and Nomura has put it off twice already because of the FFVII remake and Kingdom Hearts 4 projects which he said he felt needed a proper send-off first, but in reality the reason is more that the original FF Versus XIII project got fucked over by having their team get cannibalized repeatedly as an "all hands on deck" emergency crew for all the other projects and Nomura would get saddled with other projects at the same time, then he got shitcanned off his own FF Versus XIII project because it was making no progress (and because Tabata didn't like Nomura's work and wanted to be in charge of a main entry in the Final Fantasy series for once, so he convinced the higher-ups to put him in charge by badmouthing Nomura, when even Tabata's own team believed Tabata shouldn't've taken over the project - Tabata is gone now btw). So now Nomura wants to be able to 100% focus on the project once he gets to it, with no excuses for him to get dragged into another project at the same time.

Kingdom Hearts 3 contained a lot of Nomura rage about getting canned off of FF Versus XIII though. It was not subtle.

Yeah. For $4.99/month, I can hook you up with most buttons.
I'm not a Twitch-using zoomzoom, nice try!

There's been a FFXVI section in Sony's State of Play today.

Lots of old info, but something new and somewhat odd is that there's a charachter in the hub that basically serve as this game's lore encyclopedia instead of a simple menu section. You can *tell stories to him* which basically updates the lore (enemies/happenings/locations and so on). You even level him up too which comes with a cute 2D FF animation the more you bring him.

Oddly charming

So far my biggest gripe is the visual readability
The visual fx already clutter the screen a bit much - then those damage numbers, enemy hp bars and action reports just pile on and make it worse...

I also haven't been this excited for a video game for quite some time. :shittydog:

Is there an option to not show damage numbers? That would improve a lot the situation.
