fuck, that's bad.

serves me right for preordering i guess.

The only thing bad about that video were those two unbearable Jerries talking shit without interruption. As for the game itself, it's the beginning. It always starts simple, and expect depth and difficulty to ramp up.

Everything in that video that was scripted etc was the fucking tutorial - which you can disable right at the start....

Morans. The pont is:

If that video up there is the tutorial, it means this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXgKj3wxMm8 unfortunately is not.

Storyfag you are dumb. Don't you know that all videos that devs show are always from the tutorial section since that's the best part of every game.

And you can already see how hardcore XCom is. They showed us multiple tutorials and yet neither had tutorial messages.

I wish they'd change things a bit so that when the sectoids mind-meld their eyes flash brightly and you hear "Assuming direct control!".

I wasn't really trying to rag on the tutorial, it's just not for people that have played a TB tactics game before (and they should say that outright if they don't want a lot of bored people getting aggravated clicking through it). I wish games like this would have two tutorial modes. One is the click here do this do that for people that have literally never played anything in the genre before, and another "tutorial" that is just a game interaction playground with lots of rules dumps and tool tips and pointers that is a fun manual replacement. 'Cause I generally feel compelled to do tutorials just in case this game has some obscure shit that I will miss because there is no manual and I end up getting stabbed with complete newbie railroading

if you have the second kind along with a nicely linked ingame manual kotc-like, there is absolutely no need for the first kind.
anybody got some vid links where they show stuff on impossible or at least classic? this normal shit is just inane.

It seems the covers don't do that much either, since you can still hit them and they don't bother to have their HEAD behind cover.

Well, anyway, those gameplay videos needs to be taken down by the publisher, because they convinced me to not bother about this game.

I watched few videos, and when I started to looking at a mission, the music from internet radio was significantly more scary than these aliens in the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Lxx7lVAj7o

Warning it's in geman, and there are heavy spoilers. If you will try the game without watching it previously, it might be fun to learn new things, otherwise you'd know the gameplay already, so why would you play it?

I guess these tactical mission would become tiring quickly.

it's worth mentioning that they are playing on classic and it still looks too easy (they did lose a lot of units but mostly to fucking up for no reason).

oh ffs, i was watching all 4 thinking this is way too easy for the supposedly brutal classic dif...

edit: oh, right, i confused them with the oxm videos which are on classic, but the part about classic being too easy and ppl only dying to severe fuckups still applies.

I watched these OGM videos and there are two points.
1. They are incompetent.
2. They choose easy mission, thus the difficulty estimate might be more relevant when you look at the third video.

The trouble is that game heavily favors the side with numeric superiority. So the simplest difficult rise would be to add 2 more goons with guns, and the difficulty would have harsh spike.

Works OK for me 'cause I have no idea what slenderman is. Is it pronounced like Irving D. Slenderman attorney at law CPA director of the IMF

So far I haven't seen any shots coming out of the darkness to kill a squaddie, which is something the original is famous for. Not seeing very much tension at all.

Is there going to be an economy in this thing? Do you buy/sell your weapons and personnel, or do you just have shit?

From what I have seen so far, you still have different nations that support you with funds if you help them out, if the panic level of the country is too high, they are permanently gone from the fund raising for XCom. With this money you can do SCIENCE! stuff and buy new equipment for the squaddies and/or hire new ones. It looked actually pretty ok.

 God I don't know what is worse, JA Back in Business or this trash... you'd expect Firaxis to put together something semi-competent. I guess the disappointment is more for this game, since the JA game you knew it was going to be lulz-worthy. They should have made the popamole version just for console and made a Xenonauts like game for PC. :decline:

Review it when it comes out. I'm not in the "TOTAL SHIT" opinion zone (I have played a good number of Japanese SRPGs and really enjoyed several, and this looks like basically that plus some teeth with omnipresent permadeath) but I don't think I will be full pricin' unless I get see some good informed criticism and some of this irritating shit can be turned off/modded out.
