Personally I hate their installers
Gog Galaxy?
Never tried it, but I heard it is shit.
I use Galaxy to install most games, yes. I don't like Galaxy but it's simply easier this way. I find it excruciatingly annoying to first download a GOG installer and use it to install a game, then delete the installer again (as I don't need nor want it afterwards anymore) - and yet still have to tinker with GOG's often questionable configurations before I finally zip the whole folder for my own "archive". With Galaxy I get the folder right away and can skip the whole installer thing. Plus I like my games boxed and contained, without installers meddling in my system or putting shortcuts and stuff in my start menu or on my desktop.

The issue is that updates come to Galaxy first and then, days or weeks later, to the offline installers, because there are games where the updates aren't available in separate installers.

Waiting for SS1 Remake patch executable. I hope it won't take weeks...

I played Dark Legions back when it was new. It's a chess-lite game where you set up a squad of monsters and try to beat the other team on a grid-like battlefield.

The biggest problem was how slow-paced it was. IIRC you HAVE to watch the movement and battle animations every time. No speed-ups.

mostly Raven Soft games, maybe there's a chance for Heretic 2... unless it's something that can be done after Acti/MS shenaningans

guess it's time to dig in certain "chamber of collections" for better builds...

Whoa, Warbreeds! Never thought I'd see the day. I played the demo back in the day and it remained in my memory ever since. Very unique strategy game. Now here's hoping for Ancient Conquest next.

:what:
Why is backup of 1990 game M1 Tank Platoon 135Mb's?
It's GOG bloat and DOSBox files.

Installed folder: 147MB

Contains a PDF version of the manual (131MB), technical supplement PDF (4.93MB), and a vehicle guide PDF (0.9MB).

Game size, without the PDFs and the GOG cleanup files, the game is 6.76MB. That includes DOSBox which is 5.72MB.

Actual game is 1.04MB.

At least it is a good manual.

Insert Title Here RPG Wokedex Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.

Necrodome and TNP are neat, i actually have a boxed copy of TNP - and made a disk image of it, but the only way to play it with music is via 86box which adds a lot of input lag, at least if you want to configure it to use WASD+mouse controls.

Also as Zboj Lamignat mentioned no Mageslayer (i also have a copy of this but only the CD, not the entire box). Its controls are a little weird (unlike TNP you cannot "mouse look" - or at least not with the camera rotating) but it is a neat hack and slash game.

I never really played Cyclones, i remember trying it once and finding the controls weird.

Also i only played the demo of Necrodome but IIRC it was a neat game. For some reason though they had added a weird limitation in the demo that disallowed the use of higher resolutions :-P.

IIRC Necrodome, TNP and Mageslayer were based on Raven's attempt at making their own 3D game engine which they called "Vampire". It had some weird limitations (e.g. colored lighting was only possible in 3D accelerated modes but without lightmaps, so no precalculated shadow, which were only possible in software rendering modes). Also instead of making their own tools and editor they used 3D Studio to create all the levels, which probably limited them (and meant no mod support).

I went on a downloading spree for Raven's games a while back, but Necrodome was weirdly hard to find as I recall, so I'm happy to see SNEG bring it back.

Mageslayer was downloadable from abandonware for a while. I can't recall if I snagged it or not. Again! Another title I could have bought physically cheap back in the day. DOH!

Edit---
Mageslayer & CyberMage are still on abandonware and not raped off by GOG/Steam... YET!!

That is what is happening, a lil front-end, maybe a fix (likely NOT) resell the game digitally, and STOP THE ABANDONWARE LINKS!

I tried mageslayer on win7 and had a hell of a time getting into it or getting it to work well. This game is probably better multiplay but DAMN! That box art was a MUST BUY! I still have part of the box displayed like a picture somewhere... i think.

On other news... I find this video misleading....

That has nothing to do with my gaming catalogue.
