If you know Spanish I would have recommended ElOtroLado... In the past. Now? I believe it's as woke, harmless and corpo-friendly as everything else. Funny because it used to be a web for illegal stuff, but they fully got rid of that after Nintendo doubled down on suing emulator stuff.

I don't know man, Codex seems to be the last sane place these days. Ironically BECAUSE the Codex is ruled by an Australian Autocrat whose ruling method is essentially being lazy and only showing up to do things that amuse him, to fix bugs, or smacking someone down with the Fist of An Angry God because they did a Codex no-no - which is kind of a feat. Benevolent, lazy Autocrat >>> Tranny Jannies.
Jannies do it for free, DarkUnderlord does it for Freedom (and the lolz).
Also, tranny freaks are the worst thing that ever happened to the internet. They have nothing going on for their lives other than degeneracy and paraphilias, so they live terminally online. It's not a coincidence that parts of the internet are under their power - tumblr used to be, and now Reddit is pretty much their HQ, alongside their fellow degenerates (like PDFiles):

Indeed. Message Boards are the best midground between the chans and social media. Chans are too chaotic, social media is too stiffled and orderly. Both have too much of a content torrent where almost everything is ephemeral. Forums have community and memory.

Reddit was always shit because of the upvote/downvote system. It allows very easy isolation of wrongthink.
Codex is still the best because:
-No upvote/downvote system that hides messages
-Admins will ban/relocate people only in the extreme cases
-Forums are superior to random chan stuff that leads to mostly shitposting
-Diversity of discussions in terms of game genres. From dnd to weeb and space stuff

It's kinda funny how normal forums started dying, because people don't like to hear different opinions about subjects.
Also forums often force to read a bit and search if topics weren't discussed, while places like Plebbit or Twitter, are mostly like "Here is the latest/trendy topic to discuss, now go and post some mild opinion, and remember, behave".

Not sure if that's the actual reason? Then again, I come here primarily, above anything else, for those that actually know their video games, whereas everywhere else modern braindead AAA shit has centerstage. So...yes. But it's not because I don't want to hear anything otherwise whatsoever though, but rather more so I could talk about games at all, instead of dealing with constant denial that modern games are bad, I'm just a cranky old hater, old games suck and are made redundant by [terrible] modern game design, old games were only challenging because coin-eating schemes at the arcade (dumbest fucking take ever. That's often why 80s games were sadistically brutal, but this has nothing to do with tough-but-fair 90s standards), we need to support devs and purchase any shit excreted so they can feed their families, modern games are amazing because graphics are amazing. Nobody should touch mods for [insert incredibly dumb reasons]. It was overwhelming. The frequency I have to deal that kind of dumb shit here is more manageable.

The first problem of reddit is that everyone uses the downvote button as a "disagree" button, even through it was never meant to be that. So the creators fucked up hard if they thought nobody would use downvotes for that.
The Powermod system is also pure cancer, and ends up rewarding terminally online jannies. No one is terminally online like a tranny janny, but obviously nobody knew that at the time. So in practice you end up with a few terminally-online tranny janny weirdos moderating half the site.
I think ElonTwitter is definitively better, Community Notes allow the people to call out a bunch of shit.
I think the real test is gonna be wherever he manages to make it truly profitable without all the chaff. Non-Profitable Social Media is doomed to enshitification forever.
The bots thing is insane, Reddit pretty much proves the Dead Internet Theory true in real time.

There’s basically nothing anymore. There’s so little as far as good other places to talk about video games that it’s worth dealing with some people’s autistic retarded racist bullshit here.
At least there’s not really anything else that so broadly covers gaming in general like RPGCodex does. You might find some forums with even more of a niche focus than Codex, but they may not be all that active anymore either. And if you’re wanting to talk RPGs specifically, like I’m sure most people here joined to do, this is probably still the best place to be.
Funnily, NeoGAF seems to be better since the ResetEra split happened. I say seems to be since going over to NeoGAF to see what they have to say about things isn’t exactly something I do much, but the few times I’ve done it over the last few years the site seems to not be fucking insane anymore. And I don’t even mean in comparison to the pre Reset Trump years where they basically had Two Minutes Hate threads, I mean it seems better than it ever did... at least the little I’ve looked anyways.
