Only good games were GTA 3 and Vice City.
1 & 2 were pretty fun.
Obviously the only good games in the series are 1 and 2. It went to shit with GTA3.
GTA: Chinatown Wars (for NDS) was also good old GTA, you guys might want to check it out.
Oh, definitely.
I heard good things about it. Old school awesomeness.
Seems to me like the old GTA games were meant to be something else compared to their successors.

Any reason the DS version is superior to the psp version?

I’ve not played Chinatown Wars, but I do know the game was made specifically for the DS and has aspects that use the touchscreen. The PSP version keeps them, but they just become button presses and joystick things.

It also was made with the DS dual screens in mind. The PSP version had to charge thing.

The PSP version is sharper looking, but I like the look of the DS version more.

As much as Chinatown Wars looks like a throwback to GTA before 3, it doesn’t play the same as far as I can tell. Looks like it has a lock-on system for shooting like the PS2 era GTA games.

Take-Two CEO: Rockstar is Seeking "Nothing Short of Perfection" With GTA VI - 80 Level

"I think that's a challenge that the folks at Rockstar face every time there's a new iteration of Grand Theft Auto," commented Zelnick. "It needs to be something you've never seen before on the one hand, and it needs to reflect the feeling that we have about Grand Theft Auto. That's a big challenge for the team. Now, Rockstar's answer is just to seek perfection, seek nothing short of perfection, and we'll get there."

I hope this is their actual goal and not just PR bullshit. Most AAA releases these days seem to follow the pattern of - release some broken shit, call it a "live service" and promise it will be fixed with patches (it won't).

Unlike most devs these days Rockstar has a reputation that's actually positive and valuable, so it would make business sense for them to invest in preserving that reputation.

The interesting thing with Rockstar now is Dan Houser is gone. Left in 2020. Now one might assume when your boss is also the head writer for the games your making that, that might be why said games started forcing players from deviating outside of the very precise parameters the writer seemingly wants you to follow for story telling reasons. RDR2 definitely felt like a game at war with itself, a game caught between two totally different design philosophies of like total freedom and rigidly following the parameters of the story missions. But it’ll be interesting to see if things change with how they do games now that he’s gone.

It would be nice if they were shooting for perfection; if only it meant the actual shooting, melee combat, and stealth in the games was fucking better. It is probably safe to say they aren’t going to release something that’s a total broken mess given how much GTA Online brings in. Don’t want to release something that could fuck with that kind of money. Even single player GTA is a money making machine, so there’s at too; but Online brings in money like the series never had before, which is something given how it was bringing in money before.

The only GTA I liked was SA because there were plenty of things to do, missions, side missions, vehicle missions with bonuses at the end (usually level 12), boat school, drive school, flying school (all with unique vehicles if you 100% them), gang warfare, fighting styles, burglary, casinos, arenas, minigames, triathlons etc. But after you do all these it's just a 3rd person shooter with vehicles. GTA V was waaaaay worse. What exactly do you do in these games? What's the attraction? Fighting the police and seeing how much you can resist? With no stealth system, no line of sight, barely any way to escape etc.? Am I just dumb for not seeing anything worthwhile in this series? For them to increase to 150$ that's just baffling. I know about the Online mode but assume it's just SP.

They ain’t charging $150 for GTA6. They made the majority of their GTA5 money with GTA Online, a $150 price tag would seriously fuck that revenue stream, as well as completely fuck their normal (and also extremely large) revenue stream of people that just want to play the single player. I could see their being a version you can buy that cost $150 like tons of big name games have, but the normal default version will be a regular price.

They’d probably make more on GTA6 if it was just a free-to-play game. GTA5 has made $7.7 billion since release, but they probably could be making Fortnite money (like $5 billion every year) with GTA Online if it was F2P.

The main characters are supposedly a man and a woman. Due to current year I'm going to say that the man is bi and loves to get dominated and pegged by the woman.

I agree the idea of replayability is subjective but I can give you can example with RDR2, I finished the main campaign after about 320 hours. Then I spent around 1000 hours on the Online game and primarily completed all the new roles like Bounty Hunter, Collector and Hunter and engaged in PVP. I then went back to the SP game and I still play it, I loaded mods and they included bandit camps and new contract killings that respawn

So it may not sound interesting but I still have a reason to play RDR2 SP.

You are 100% correct. GTA used to be a flawed but well-meaning open world game packed with content. Said content was at times not so good, but generally they were admirable games and all the content mostly tied together in a meaningful way, with the peak of that vision being San Andreas. In GTAV nothing has substance, it's completely irredeemable outside of I suppose messing around in multiplayer if you like that kind of thing. Whatever substance the games used to have, now gone. To top it off the storytelling is extremely edgy and cringe in a 45 year old loser trying to appeal to younger generations kind of way. How it is one of the top selling games of all time...well it shows that many people are really quite mediocre. You have to be to enjoy that shit.

To everyone also dissapointed by the decline of GTA series, check out the TCs by Barcode Studio for GTA 3.

They focus on the smaller mafia families from Liberty City- Forellis and Sindaccos.

Both have completely new missions and side content. Also new radio stations and music for exisiting ones.
Author supposedly works now on Vice City mod.

There's also the unpolished Frosted Winter from 2010, but it's very frustrating at times with very tight time limits and snow affecting the car handling (fuck the final Head Radio asset mission) and some stupid design decisions.

Played the GTA V story in 2015, played the multiplayer for a while, crashed off the series hard, especially annoyed by how much snappier and more responsive Max Payne 3 was and how much more weight the vehicles in GTA IV had. Did not like any of the characters. Two days ago, my brother asked me to install GTA V again. He lost access to his account somehow and wanted to see what the game was like now. So we played it for over an hour in my room, and the whole time I was frustrated with the design, and mad especially at how dead the world was. Hate to be a spoil-sport, but I let him know that I hate this and think Rockstar doesn't know what a game is or doesn't care.

By the way, modern cars are so crappy that every GTA should now be set in the past. What's the best selling car, the Ford F series? Those trucks are soooo stupid, and we saw vehicles just like them when we played GTA V together. The car-brains decided they all wanted trucks, but still wanted them to have four doors/seats like a sedan, so the bed was shortened, making it shittier than a sedan and shittier than a truck, far bigger than trucks used to be, but much less bed for the size.

Lol.

The crime movies Rockstar was inspired by have good or at least decent love interests. Karen Hill in Goodfellas, Kay in The Godfather, Eady in Heat, Elvira in Scarface, Gail in Carlito's Way. Women have been weirdly absent in modern GTA, as if we don't interact with them in real life. V had Michael's wife, but she was shit as a character, like his son. What did GTA IV have, that obese lady you barely saw and the FBI agent you barely saw? I don't know why anyone would expect Rockstar to write a good female protagonist if they couldn't even do the women on the side right.

For people not in the loop - people are still mad that Rockstar didn't released much/any info about GTA6... beside these "things".
And maybe one t-shit about "relax".
