There's a fan translation (six years ago we had a few live translators, now that team left and the current one is mostly MTL I think) that's maintained by a small team. There's also an official localization in progress done by a Chinese localization company. The fan translation community has been consulted when ConchShip Games was picking the localizer, and on how to best handle various wuxia-specific terms and such. It was supposed to come out this year, but I highly doubt that it will.

For the record, I was involved in the Taiwu fan translation way back in 2018 as an editor. It fell apart when the game went into their "closed cultivation" for three years with no updates. For many years now I've not been an active part of that community, I don't know any of the people handling it now, and I highly doubt any of my meager contributions from back then are still present.

Totally unlike one another. It's a linear chapter-based real-time action rpg (combat is closer to, like, the Ys series or something than a proper rpg) focused on really finnicky "talk to NPCs in a specific order" investigation-style quests. Some people really like it, I don't.

Mind you, "official" translation does not mean quality. It doesn't even mean it won't be machine-translated. But machine translation has come forward leaps and bounds in the past few years, so even if that's all we get, it will probably be alright. The biggest issue going from Chinese to English is when the formatting gets all fucked up going from vertical text to horizontal, or in cases of vastly different space economy (each individual "letter" in chinese translates to entire words or even phrases in English, after all) so an "official" translation at least has the advantage of the original developers being able to adjust the UI elements and such.

Xunity Auto translator has advantage of playing around with Font Size so it also helps in that regard, but nothing really beats official tool, especially for Vertical Text.

There is nothing you can do but do change game elements (the text box orientation) for that

Fate Seeker 1 basically plays like Chinese Quest for Glory. It's an adventure game far more than it's an RPG. The appeal is that you get to play a relatively low level wuxia story in a point and click adventure format.

Extremely. Tale of Wuxia and HTLS are both miles better than Path of Wuxia, albeit in somewhat different ways from one another.

Excellent game, but really depends on your tolerance for bad translation. It's VERY bad, pre-DeepL stuff, a lot of times it will be impossible to figure out how to solve a quest or what a combat skill does.

The Steam forums have guides for characters creation & quests / riddles, don't be shy about using those.

However the time is just too long. Once I got through the opening bit and opened up my inventory/skills/abilities, I realised that was going to be too much to keep screenshoting, least of all remembering.

I then tried to see if I can just do a manual translation by unpacking the files, but looks like the devs I think done it in a weird way? So I've no clue how to unpack those files, if anyone happens to know then please mention it, I'd really like to see how the new o1 model handles translation on a big scale.

If you want to do translation of the game, in the workshop you can find 2 mods made by the dev (one for SCH, one for TCH).

The mod files are basically bunch of text including everything in the game.

If you want to translate it's better to translate through that, you might need to do some workaround:

1. put the text to excel, most of them are xml i think so it should be ez

2. Use translator tools like Translator++ which has chatGPT integration

3. Translato

4. Make some script to replace the text in the xml with excel

But don't you need to use the original text? There's nothing to translate for the AI if the text is already english.

The mod that I said is in SCH (Simplified Chinese) or TCH (Traditional)

The game data of Heluo games are everything literally in text, including coordinates and stuffs. When they made modding available for HTLS it's pretty much dumping all the text data. When you subbed to the mod by the dev, you go to your Steam Workshop folder, goes to HTLS one, open the mod folder. Everything there is in Chinese. Translating the game to English means translating those files.

This is pretty much how the various translation in Workshop works. The English one was made using DeepL but that was really old and today's DeepL is probably better. ChatGPT in general is also better for Chinese.
