4chan sometimes has interesting posts that you wouldn't see on the Codex.

There was a thread on western devs making women ugly on purpose and a response was, "Ohh, there's no waifu, fucking weebs."
And another one saying that Disco Elysium mocks communism as well.

For some reason it became the consensus on 4chan that to use online walkthroughs when playing games is the right way to go. That's so bizarre to me, since it ruins the fun and is anti-hardcore. Many are also strident there that there is no such thing as too much grinding.

That's jRPG fans for you. Again, 4chan userbase is mostly console players with most of folks getting into video games with PS1 (being optimistic here) and later gens. If you've played/read about games like Final Fantasy, lots of them have convoluted means of unlocking best weapons to defeat optional superbosses that are almost impossible to figure out by yourself. IIRC in Final Fantasy 12 you need to NOT open some specific chests to then get best weapon from a specific chest, can't blame players for being paranoid when devs pull shit like this. Western RPGs share similar obscurities at times as well, to get Goldbrand in Morrowind you need be lucky son of a bitch to figure all of that out on your own when there's nothing that even hits it exists.

A difference between a 4chan meme and an old codex meme describes the relationship between /vrpg/ and rpgcodex perfectly.

An unmoderated forum is much better than an anonymous imageboard though. You get to know who's who and whether spending your time talking with someone on a given topic is worthwhile or not. With 4chan, every thread is a 'reset' and most of the content is shit anyways.
Full anonymity is all right. The problem with all those 4chans and so on is that they also have some algorithms where threads get closed for no reason. A good anonymous format approximates a forum, except you don't know the posters.

It's not like you know any of the posters here, only the personality they present as
