From the lead character artist description:

Imagine, craft, and produce characters that range from realistic to slightly stylized

Codex can breathe a sigh of relief in knowing that Fargo has learned his lesson from that minor Toy Story Wasteland 2 controversy; they won't be making cartoony games.

A couple of recent Glass Door reviews: apparently Microsoft Money has fixed all of inXile's problems.

Make an impact without worrying about funding
Apr 28, 2022 - Anonymous Employee in Tustin, CA

Pros

- It's an Xbox Game Studio, so the days of juking teams to chase funding is over with

- There isn't any kind of mandate or requirement on what games we make or how we make them, a lot of focus on employee happiness and process

- But the studio is still small-to-medium sized with a scrappy spirit, so you can make a real impact here if you want to

- Open and communicative, open doors, very collaborative

Cons

Nothing systemic or worth mentioning

Amazing Company
May 19, 2022 - Game Producer

Pros

-Leadership that cares about the well-being of employees - both from a career and personal standpoint.

-Fantastic office space in Tustin, CA and New Orleans, LA

-Excellent support at all levels to help every employee do their best job

-Extremely well positioned for continued success as a Microsoft Game Studio

-Great mix of folks from all walks of life - some with lots of game development experience and others up and coming.

-Has provided great support for the staff WFH and has a very reasonable approach to Hybrid work. They take Covid (and general health/safety) protocols seriously.

Cons

honestly can't think of much. coffee machine breaks down periodically, but that hasn't happened lately.

Advice to Management

Continue championing diversity/inclusion efforts

Continue the approachable/accessible philosophy to allow feedback that makes the company even better & stronger than it already is.

That producer's advice might wreck things though. :M

I guess it's nice that they're happy. Too bad all they'll be making is shit from now.

I'm sorry were you under the impression the job of a video games company is to make games people want to play? Clearly the ideal role is to provide a cradle-to-grave salary guarantee to mentally ill progressives

I haven't played WL3 yet, but i got an impression that it's supposedly Inxile's best game. So it's not a situation when the studio started out strong, and then slowly declined due to a loss of talent, burnout and pozz.

I'm fabulously optimistic.

I thought the job of inXile was to make games with an almost criminal tendency to miss greatness and instead land in solidly mediocre territory.

"There isn't any kind of mandate or requirement on what games we make or how we make them" so if Not-Arcanum 3 sucks, it's all on Fargo, Chad Moore, and Jason Anderson. :M

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
"continue championing diversity and inclusion"

In other words everything from inXile will have the hair dye stench of Outer Worlds from now on - full of stronk wahmen, eebul men and "fuck cptailsm" kind of messaging.

W3 was their last good game.

Once the Fallout IP has been restored to its original creator, inXile will be able to create the true Fallout 3, a successor to Fallout and Fallout 2 built on the game engine used for Wasteland 2 and Wasteland 3.
Waaay too good to be true; it will never happen.

_________

During the development of InXile's Torment, I asked one of the devs why the party members only had run animations [no walking state], and the dev shamelessly admitted to not understanding why it was needed. Imagine them trying to make a classic RPG like Fallout or Planescape—with that and all the other things they'd not understand the need for.

InXile would probably do a better job.

...

Just a side-note. A champion's typical virtue is bravery. Championing something requires courage and determination, because you'd be going against an overwhelming majority, fighting an inequal battle against all odds. Yet in today's day and age, it takes exactly zero courage to be an LGBT drone. It's the conservative values that can get you fired in a heart beat, cancelled by an entire industry, and your credit cards revoked. That's what takes courage nowadays. You can't be diversity's champion, only its fluffer.

Wasteland 2 was my first ever CRPG experience and I had a thoroughly good time playing through it. I have a soft spot for InXile, and they are the people who got me into the genre, but I would be lying if I found Torment and Wasteland 2 a little tough to go back to after playing the essentials and other great modern CRPGs.

I still need to play through Wasteland 3 however, and from what I've heard, I'm super excited to play it.
