I'm guessing it's not KQ, since Telltale have the license.

I kind of would not want another Gabriel Knight, but then this is why when I pledged I voted for GM2. This new game they're making sounds like an in-spirit sequel to GK and I'd prefer not to have the good ideas cut and used across two games when one can get the full attention of the GKish feeling.

yeah, but IIRC they said they would be working with a studio
so it could be telltale

Telltale is a Developer, not a Publisher though.

It is certainly not a new GK.

Could be a GK remake though. Never thought of that but it certainly sounds plausible. She mentioned wanting to make "special editions" of the original trilogy down the road. She was considering remaking all of them on the same engine(hopefully all of them in 2d point and click).

Make the Codex Great Again!
If it's GM2, then I'm so going to kick myself for not pledging $200.

Yeah it is probably Grey matter 2. I know she said she had discussed Gabriel Knight with Activision, but what that actually means I have no idea. Personally a 2D hand drawn re-make of GK2 and 3 would be fucking awesome. But that's not going to happen. :( A new, 2D GK would also be pretty awesome.

Am I really alone in liking GK2 as it is? Yes, the acting is cheesy as hell and there's no Tim Curry's voice, but the whole thing has kind of a weird charm. There is no defending number three though.

Nope, I enjoyed playing through it, agree with you there is a weird charm to it. Acting wasn't as bad as I was expecting, heh, the lodge members are done well enough when they have to be creepy.

Funny, I like all "interactive films" adventures from Sierra, and GK2 being more of a fantasy (voodoo vs. lycanthropy which is better and why?) will remain a nostalgic journey to Bavaria. Also - Robert Holmes music is giving additional charm to the setting.

Am I the only one who liked GK3? I mean, it wasn't as good as 1 (never played 2), but I still thought it was an above average Adventure game. It was worth the bargain bin price I paid for it 10 years ago.

I liked it for the obvious research that went into the plot, and the gothic-horror vibe. It's one of the better FMV games, though that's not really saying much. Doesn't compare to the first one though.

It's one of the best FMV games because they actually bothered to include some gameplay in the package, instead of being comfortable in simply riding the FMV hype train towards a swimming pool filled with cash. And while it truly can't compare favourably to the original, not many games can, at least it was not a dismal failure like other new installments.

The Sierra FMV-era games were actually all pretty good in that way -- GK2, Phantasmagoria, Rama, Shivers (kind of) etc. GK2 was the best of them by a long way though, and I always credited that to the storytelling.

Without FMV-era games we'd never have zero-interaction games such as Uncharted 3. It's like I'm really watching a bad movie!

I played GK2 for around 30 minutes and turned that shit off.

Granted I am NOT seeing GK2 the way it was back in the day when it was OH MY FUCKING GOD! FMV! HOLY SHIT! OMG OMG OMG! (Which was cool). I just could never continue on.

Pandora Directive did it much, much, MUCH better. More and better gameplay. better FMV too.

Also GK3>GK2. The hatred people pile on 3 never ceases to amaze me (cue that utterly moronic Old Man Murray article)

My experience with GK3 mirrors Jaesun's GK2 mishap perfectly - I installed it, started it, tried to play it and then turned it off due to the horrible 3D. There might be a good game under it, but I've never found the strength to discover it (and the negative reviews on the net sapped my motivation, sadly).
And yes, Tex Murphy is also pretty great, but I only played the games later, so they do not get such a nice nostalgic reaction from me like the Beast Within (and the 3D first person world exploration with weird controls pisses me off, but I got over it).
