Hey Major_Blackhart what is your story with Sawyer? Why you hate it so much? He disappointed you with Pillars 1 or any other game in particular?

It's a culmination of things. I lost faith in all of obsidian in Pillars 1. But ultimately I just saw soyer as this fucking full of himself pseudo intellectual with terrible ideas of game design. Like he has no idea what makes something fun.

Examples:
1. He's admitted he thinks dnd 3e and such with dice rolls and the values are something he just doesn't get. I think that was it. It was al9ng the lines he didn't get the appeal of it.
2. He thinks that the ability to cheese a system is a flaw of the system that requires fixing. He gave an example of a pnp system where he picked up on a way to cheat the sysyem by making some stupid knife thrower just to demonstrate to the DM that it was flawed and could be cheated. Rather than have fun with it, he HAD to fucking point out it was shit in his mind because it could be abused.


With that and other stuff he proved himself to be the last guy you want designing rpgs. He's a control freak that wants you to follow a path he's set out, not experience it for yourself to fuck up and min max or experiment to your players challenge themselves by making broken builds etc. NO. Everything must be viable. And so as a result nothing can be more effective than anything else. And so everything is the same no matter what.

It's like a sick form of communism. And its just as evil because there's absolutely no fun.

Why play as a wizard if it's going to feel the same as a barbarian and do the same stuff no matter what etc. The stats don't really matter or influence things. The class doesn't matter really except in the most topical of ways.

my co-workers after i tell them about an Extremely Online Relationship i had in the early/mid-2000s that was very tumultuous and also resulted in almost getting matching tattoos:
