I pirated the game to see if they made any changes to combat from KCD 1. Combat is still clunky as hell and even more dumbed down than in 1. In my run so far enemies do not flank. Switching weapons is a chore and clunky. Overall there is a lot of nuisance like this that detracts from enjoyment even ignoring the entire pozzed setting and cuckry aside.

There are a lot of quests that is just mundane watching the MC go back and forth for 10-15 minutes carrying something. How is watching the MC carry bags of grain back and forth for 10-12 minutes fun. It is immersive if you do it the first time, but continuous for 3-5 times? that is a chore.

There are a lot of choices that are choices in name only aka fallout 4 that do not change anything or have any different effect.

Also there are no true romance with a girl or a woman in the game. It is just fade to black after a very brief cutscene (short than the Witcher 3 scenes) and that's it. Women do not even acknowledge you slept with them or whatever.

The only true built up romance is with HANS LOL. The sodomite romance is the only romance that has built in scenes for before, during and after and a proper build up and end.

They couldn't make a cutscene for fucking a woman but they got two actors who play the main characters kiss and lay in bed crossing swords.

People will still say that the women romance is "more fleshed out"

Enemies do flank, at least later. This is just annoying though due to the locked camera.

I only recall two quests that required you to carry bags, and one is optional (as in, the specific quest goal of carrying bags is optional) and the other only requires you to carry one bag, as that triggers the argument that will then turn into a fight. At that point you can stop carrying bags and walk up to the argument and interact.

Yes, there are meaningless choices. There are also plenty of choices that aren't.

The romances take place later in the game. Best you can do early in the game is sleep with a few minor characters. Who has made these claims that you repeat? Since you can't have gotten that far into the game yourself yet. Not that it really matters much. Romances in games are decline regardless and shouldn't be put in in the first place.

Maybe don't listen to the word of retards who haven't played beyond the tutorial, and rather to people like Hellion and Rieser who got a review copy.

Fair point

:backawayslowly:

Although that wouldn't be surprising if true. Seeing that Hans romance, Henry having gay options and Musa leaks were true

I was so impressed by the way they handled Hans in the first game. Rarely do we get flamboyant characters allowed to be straight. If CDPR made The Witcher today you can bet he'd be the gayest gay in all known universe.

Played it for a couple of hrs. It's the same shit as the first one and that one was overrated. Only now it's more mainstream in terms of story with the inclusion of minorities. And they included halberds, crossbows and primitive firearms. At the same time bows, crossbows and firearms are all placed under the skill category "Archery". How retarded is that? Gothic 1 had bows and crossbows separated back in 2001.

The skill category is "Marksmanship", and there are perks applying either to only crossbows, bows and crossbows, mounted archery, firearms or all of them.

I kinda wished combat could be a little more meaty, but I'm using swords for now, so maybe it's a different story with some heavy weapons later on.
I'm seeing some other problem - block and riposte time windows is so freakin' huge, makes game a total leisure so far (I mean, still getting wrecked sometimes when fighting like 4-5 enemies at once) and I'm not really that skilled player in term of quick time reacting. And while I kinda agree enemies should flank you more aggresively, they are still flanking from what I'm seeing so far, but you can easily cheese that too. Apart from stupid AI archer that will scream "I can't shoot, can't see him!!" just move nigga, gosh!

The game’s great, no denying that. Likely much better than the first one.
But half of the Czech voice-overs are, again, as cringe-worthy as they’ve nearly always been when it comes to gaming dubs.
Unfortunately, that includes the main protagonist.
Our nation is known for top-tier movie dubbing quality worldwide, yet for some baffling reason, Czech voice actors in games in 95% sound like they’re either mocking the forms of speech, competing for the title of “most stilted delivery,” adding random accents where none belong, or managing to be both monotonous and bizarre—like a zombie donkey after a head transplant would greet them as long-lost siblings.
Thankfully, this happens in “only” about a third to half of the voice-overs, and my intent really isn’t to trash-talk the game on itself—it seems to be really cool overall. But if you’re a Czech speaker, you’ll know exactly what I mean the moment you hear it.
This thing, whatever it is, has been plaguing our gaming dubs and translations since time immemorial.
Man, I’m so tired of it, I might even consider getting into the dubbing business myself :P

I searched the writers for this game.
KCD 1 - Vavra (lead writer) and a bunch of other dudes with hard to pronounce names (slavs)
KCD 2 - only 3 ppl are present in writing credits. Prokop Jirsa, Ondrej Bittner and Kevin Bernhardt. So this Kevin Bernhardt dude is actually a murican who is indicated as 'story consultant' and is known for the movie "Medieval".

You get it? An american 'story consultant' in a game made in Czech Republic by czechs about Medieval Europe.

is Kevin their 'in house historian' I'm guessing
He's a screenwriter. He was also involved in the absolutely terrible film Medieval (2022) with Til Schweiger in which Vavra had a cameo.
So it's nepotism.
Americanophilia?

A bit.

Americans in media are infested with DEI. But this is luckily changing

I don't think I've ever seen in my 12 years on Codex so many errors compressed into a single post.

Huh, didn't know you're a knedlik.

And yeah, the Czech dubbing is atrocious, even mainstream journos point that out.
Apparently Vetchý as Sigismund is great but I'm not nearly that far in the game yet.
