Since I first played Age of Empires 2, I've been convinced that a game is at its best when it's educational. Though it can still be good without being educational of course.

I'm still halfway through KCD2 and I can't issue a final opinion, but KCD1 was more of a tour of medieval life than KCD2. KCD1 took you through village life, city life, monastery, military action, siege, and it gave you a taste of "the Middle Ages". For someone in their teens who is getting his first taste of this period through this game, KCD1 it's the perfect tour guide. Whereas KCD2 is different. Someone said that this game is more character-centered than presenting the period, and I agree.

Fuck no, you don't get to just skip the cringe, you have to watch this and suffer too.
Yeah, this is too much metalanguage, especially with the ripoff of "The Flintstones"' theme.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
I agree with Roguey. KCD is a Hollywood movie that tries to present itself as a documentary.
What the fuck are you two blabbering about. Jesus christ.

Roguey, my boy, you should either play the game or stop posting about it, you're fast losing credit as a knowledgeable and sharp observer. P. much all your comments about KCD2 are completely spaced out.

Jesus Christ, this quest is intolerable. Every character seems to have a quota to fill, where they HAVE to talk about how noble and heroic Musa is.
i just skipped through everything musa-related
he's clearly a forced DEI inclusion that was not even in the original script, because like i already said, nothing in the story would change if he was removed, he serves no purpose

what is "kino"?
"movie/visual art of the highest quality", something like that
the right term for games would be "ludo" but kino is more widely spread

what is "kino"?
Something zoomer redditards and millenials trying to sound hip say.
you are wrong
zoomers now say:

the intro was way too linear and heavy with cutscenes
by the time i got to the inn part of it was begging the game to let me have some fucking freedom instead of railroading me into more bullshit linear sequences and cutscenes

Despite this, it's still about 30% the length of KCD1's intro.
the kcd1 intro at least gave you multiple tasks and several ways to complete each, here you're on rails going sequence to sequence, that's what sucks imo

Most quests in this game give you 20-40 groschen, no biggie. I found the Cabbage thief, turned him in, and the bailiff gave me the odd amount of 783 groschen. Bug? Like someone put an extra zero in the variable, and the reward is higher than the amount he has, so he just hands over everything?

bruh you shouldn't have turned him in, he gives you special sauerkraut that regens 10 health (20 with the perk), gives only 2 nourishment, and weighs almost nothing so you suck those suckers down like it's nobody's business and not give a shit about marigold potions or stuffing yourself

Finished the game. Here are my thoughts.

1) I was the first one on Codex to (correctly) predict that when Vavra talks about diversity, it means niggers. I was also the first one to bring news of Musa here. I've talked about Musa enough for everyone to know my opinion on this character and his inclusion. However, now that I've finished the game, I can say with 100% certainty that this character was completely unnecessary outside of scoring points with the journos and Blackrock. He was forced down your throat, but he was a bit character with minimal relevance to the story, and the game would be better off without him.
2) Musa's more plot-relevant comrade at arms is Sam, your jewish half-brother.

I didn't like this character. He was a punk with a chip on his shoulder - but just like with Musa, Henry loved this guy, for some reason. I've left him to die and skipped all the dialogue about Henry grieving about his death. I've felt nothing for him, except maybe annoyance.

3) Katherine, despite being on the cover, is barely even in the fucking game. I liked her (despite romancing Rosa instead of her), she was inoffensive, and I'd really prefer her to have the Kuttenberg story for herself, that Sam takes over instead. I'd gladly take a mary sue Black Widow doing flips with a crossbow over Sam. I'd say that both Rosa and Katherine are inferior to Theresa, but Theresa has the benefit of A Woman's Lot. Actually, Hans might be the best romance, because from the beginning to the end there's a lot of him, and he has a direct connection to the main story.

4) Another subject I was pretty vocal about is Istvan Toth. Now that we can look at KCD with the benefit of hindsight, this villain had no business surviving the first game. In KCD2, he felt tacked on. Like he's a part of the plot because he's on the bucket list and needs to be crossed out. With lord Otto, the frenchman, Markvart, Sigismund, Erik, the Chamberlain, the villains of the main plot are CROWDED. Istvan did not need to be a part of this crowd. The first game would be far better off with him dying at the end in a climactic ending, and the second would be far better off with the Chamberlain taking over the role of the Arc 1 final boss.

5) When the devs said "Newbies will be able to pick up the game without playing the first one, and they'll miss nothing, it'll do a fine job of recapping and explaining everything", they were remorseless fucking liars. I've played a little minigame - every time a name or an event from the first game comes up, I pretend to be a newbie without any context to anything, and try not to get confused.

6) The frenchman's heel turn comes out of nowhere, and makes me feel nothing. I guess I've killed him, but I didn't have any real animosity towards him like I've felt for Toth or Chamberlain.

7) The gay thing never bothered me, and it still doesn't.

8) The game is certainly a lot woker than KCD1, but whatever, we take what we can get in these dark times. At least it's not Avowed.

9) Fuck niggers.

Just finished the Mouth of Hell quest, such a cool premise, potential half-filled, feels like it could've been something much more.
I enjoyed it. It's also one of the only quests that takes your gear away, and then gives it back without messing up your outfit presets.

Back in the day a Warhorse dev used to post here and mentioned there was considerable internal debate over the anti-climax non-ending of KCD1, with most of the staff arguing against it. But Vavra stuck to his guns.

One of the reason multi-game storylines don't work (or multi-book storylines for that matter) is the payoff is almost never worth it. People get so addicted to teasing big reveals they don't consider the pacing or progression of the entire story.

Then Klara but she's doesn't really care about you, it's just a ruse on her part which she admits later on.
That's not true actually.
The second time you meet she will invite you to sleep with her in her cabin if you help her by treating the wounded soldiers.

Roguey can be full of shit more frequently than you expect.

I reached the Kuttenberg map. The second sneaking mission was less annoying than the first.

I didn't find Katherine's appearance in the dungeon to be over the top, as Roguey was claiming so energetically that it is, especially with all the over the top stuff that had happened beforehand. She kills one guard by surprise, and it's offscreen. The appearance Theresa makes at Skalitz where she saves Henry is much more of a tired trope. The remark she makes towards Jan isn't out of character for her either. To be honest, Katherine as a character already doesn't belong in the 15th century, so nitpicking her is pointless as a whole, but even if you would nitpick her, I'd go more for her outfit than for this scene specifically.
