I haven't been reading the posts for few days as I just lost interest in the drama. Mainly because everything I've expected did happen.

Musa is actually an obnoxious prick that says wayt peepo don't season their food, that Musa loves women, the game has no player choice and forces you through some stupid quests like dragging a drunk for 10mins or pouring drinks for 30mins and just listening to people talk.

But, did I miss anything? Anything new was uncovered?

There is an enclave of proto-communists seated at the king's table, served with golden cutlery and treated as precursors of the future.

Decline.

I'm surprised this game is hated as much as it is on the Dex, I kind of like it. Now what I'm I supposed to do?
Despite whatever complaints I have, I like it a lot. I wasn't planning to play it yet but I thoroughly enjoyed KCD1 so I wanted to at least check it out, and now I'm completely sucked in.

+Combat much improved
+Crossbows and polearms are fun
+nails the zero to hero classic RPG feel
+thoughtful quest design, at least in the Trosky free roam area (future railroading may change my mind)
+Mutt is the best videogame dog ever
+Armor porn is as good as ever
+Henry is a lovable doofus mass murder graverobber poaching thieving squire in shit-and-blood-covered armor

-Occasionally tedious unfun bullshit quest design (par for the course with this developer/writer though)
-Small scope. KCD1 was supposedly set in a backwater, yet Trosky is even more of a backwater. It should provide a nice sense of progression to Kuttenberg though right?
-Bathing/washing remains a constant never-ending chore (fixable with a mod)

There is a perk that slows down the rate of dirtying. I actually prefer the blood for the dread bonus in conversations. It's satisfying when you know you heavily outclass them with dread

You are faced with the difficult choice, to form an opinion based on your own experiences, or to let it be shaped by people who haven't played the game and are instead participating as dunces in the youtube grifter economy.

That's just mostly retarded griefers who probably didn't even play the first KCD, but why does it even matter what others say?

For me it's KCD with minor changes, some for good, some for bad, but overall it's good old KCD.

Thanks,
Sherry

I can say with 100% certainty that this [Musa] character was completely unnecessary outside of scoring points with the journos and Blackrock. He was forced down your throat, but he was a bit character with minimal relevance to the story, and the game would be better off without him.
As a reminder:

They sold out and went woke, I hope they step on some LEGO pieces. I doubt that I will ever play the game. Vavra is a snake, and a cunt.

That doesn't mean you should give in to what RPGCodex, users, or what I say. If you enjoy the game, good for you. I play a lot of games that most Codexers find appalling, and frankly, I don't care. You do you, as they say.

Jesus Christ, this quest is intolerable. Every character seems to have a quota to fill, where they HAVE to talk about how noble and heroic Musa is.
i just skipped through everything musa-related
he's clearly a forced DEI inclusion that was not even in the original script, because like i already said, nothing in the story would change if he was removed, he serves no purpose
He's immortal while the guy that is so important you have to save the heretic muslim Musa to gain the trust of is not. Makes sense.

I reached the Kuttenberg map. The second sneaking mission was less annoying than the first.

I didn't find Katherine's appearance in the dungeon to be over the top
There was no sneaking for me in that mission, I just bumrushed the GPS marker. The guards were screaming behind me and chasing me but there's no consequence because arriving to your destination starts a cutscene and the world resets after that.

As for Katherine, I still can't decide if she's a girl boss or not. Sometimes she's sassy and abrasive but not all of the time. Not even most of the time. Plus as anyone with any experience with women knows there ARE women like that and always have been. And MOST women are like that if they're bleeding. The important thing is she doesn't talk back to the nobility - if the game was written in California she absolutely would have - and even obeys Zizka most of the time.

The only instance she actually pissed me off was at Suchdol where Henry is talking to Peter of Pisek, he says something like "Hm, didn't think about it that way..." and she jumps in with "Henry here doesn't think much in general." That shit was slap-across-her-face worthy. But it was one moment in my 70 hours so far.

Speaking only based on what I know of the game so far - just finished talking with Peter. Yes, how you take Katherine, comes down to lived experience in my opinion. Snarky women were always around, we've all seen our share. You can tell Katherine doesn't lack self confidence... neither in the front nor behind, heh. She doesn't have any reason to hold Henry in high esteem until the flight to Kuttenberg. Except for that moment at the pond, which, if Henry brings it up, she actually steps out of the snarky persona and thanks him, while scolding Zizka.

And as I said earlier, there has to be some room for development of that character, she has to walk some path and revise her opinion of him for the drama to work. If she starts out swooning over Henry, where is the "game"? She wants to see you put some effort into trying to win her, even if she has decided right on the spot that she wants you. Is being "the chosen one" once again in any way more interesting?

The only thing I regret regarding characters is that the face animations are not prevalently motion-captured. Or maybe were so once, but then were cut down into and reused in a modular way. As a result, some facial expressions in important moments are either too un-expressive, or don't look natural. There have been screenshots posted, but I have one of mine with Klara having this bared-teeth smile. I guess the fatherly advice for RPG players is "always romance the woman with the motion-captured face expressions, the others are just random bitches"

I don't know, lads. Over time Katherine went from insufferable to mildly annoying for me. Her entire attitude of snarky, self-assured, sarcastic bitch just feels like a YA writer's idea of a stronk wombyn. The whole "I'm a woman so I'm invulnerable so I can talk wild shit" thing she has going. That's very relatable and believable. In a modern woman. Not so in a medieval one. I was banging my head on my desk when she was chatting with Peter's captain and schooling him on how to train his garrison and then egging Henry to kick his ass for no good reason. On the other hand, she does have her moments of clarity where she recognizes that a lowlife tavern is too much for her to handle.

But the biggest issue with her, and most other characters, is that they don't get no room to breathe and develop. The cast is spread too thin, and the devs have their "donut steel" characters like Musa and Shamuel who the players give no shits about. And because of that, the characters with potential fall by the wayside. Forget Katherine for this even, the whole marketing drive portrayed the game as a duo Henry-Hans adventure and it had great potential to show more of the noble side of medieval living. But Capon pops up once in a while, and then fucks off for extended stretches. He's barely in the story. He's more mcguffin than man if we're being honest.

You need to untie Mika first. Some folks don't realize they could simply wait until the guard stops talking and leaves

Yes, Mika is just a few steps from your position, you choke two guards, untie him and then you can just bumrush the marker.

Holy shit, I've just realized something.
Over the course of the game, I fought cumans ONE TIME - during the rapefugee quest (the one where you're clearly intended to befriend them instead). You don't fight cumans even once over the course of the main story, and I've never seen any hostile cumans on the road either. I have no idea where the iconic shot of a guy in the mask in the trailer comes from. You fight germans, praguers, czechs and even frenchmen, but never cumans. Vavra really bent the knee.

I fought random encounter on the road cumans, and cleared out hostile cuman camps. Plenty of them to chop in the game.

Afaik there is at least one enemy Cuman camp on the Trosky map, the "friendly" Cumans even point you to it.

But saying Vavra bent a knee is a stretch in this particular case. Don't forget both the Trosky and the Kuttenberg region are pro-Sigismund, Cumans have no reason to wreak havoc over there or even be there in the first place. Their job is to stomp on Wenceslas allies, not on von Bergow or the Kuttenbergers.

A fraction of players did not learn how to choke a guard, and they are underleveled to beat a guard in combat. For them, the design failsafe is to wait until the guy guarding Mika finishes his yapping and moves on. Those who don't realize that and keep attacking the guard end up posting rants on Steam. Anyway, that's my theory on Storm mission.
