NMA isnt publicly blacklisted afaik (internally is another matter of course).
you just couldnt link to NMA when the scans were up a while ago (of the first FO3 previews in the written press).

but if they're going to link our preview on their site is of course another matter.

Age of Decadence's one. After VD would leave rpg scene because of low sales as a result of satisfaction with FO3.

We will also remove avatars that are lewd, overly sexual in nature, and/or graphically violent

But of course! what else was the reason do you think? When a Beth dev looks at rpg codex logo his skin begin to burn, eyes blow and blood starts to run from ears. Therefore it's very very violent in nature.

Bah, noob, the setting is called Planescape! Torment was the name of the game! NNOBBB!!! :P

It was all a mere test to find out if anyone actually reads my posts.

he's just a PR guy saying what seems best to him, but above all saying what has been fed to him.

I don't give a good fuck that he's the PR guy for Fallout 3 and being spoon fed. He should get a proper job and stop lying about Fallout fans and the original game. After I played Fallout 2 when I was eleven I remember thinking about Fallout 3, and I don't see why building upon what makes the original Fallout great is impossible to do today.

VD isn't a sellout! Or is he? :?

The problem is, IMHO, that Pete thinks, that we want Fallout 3 to be exactly like Fallout 1 or 2, but with better graphics...

This might be true for some at NMA, DaC or RPGCodex, but certainly not for all...

i doubt you'll find many that simply want that at NMA...

but there are a few elements that need to be kept (for various reasons. as my oversimplified signature on the bethsoft forums says: to make a real FO3 you need Isometric view (3D is fine), SPECIAL, non-linear involving story true to Fallout lore, turn-based combat, versatile quests with many different ways to complete, and extensive dialog trees (without loops).

So the BoS has been turned into COG.

Any other Gears of War conventions that have been lifted, besides the 3rd person shoulder cam that they don't actually care for?

This reminds me a bit of when Spielberg took over the A.I. project from Kubrick. In the end, he retained Kubrick's excellent first act in the home of the robot kid (like Bethesda is modeling the vault exactly after the originals) but then it suddenly devolved into a magical Disney ride loosely based on Pinocchio, of all things.

I do agree that Pete probably shouldn't be the target of major hostility though. I've been on sales presentations in my previous job and I had to pitch a product that I thought was crap. Give the guy a break. It's Todd and Emil that seem to be the masterminds behind this fantastic operation and should be shipped off to Greenland.

Hines walks up to a pool of water and explains they're working hard at upgrading the Oblivion engine, including real water refraction and reflection.

Heavy focus on "ISN'T IT SHINY" syndrome, rather than real content.

I'd say it's BioShock.

Do you guys think a 6800 card will run the game?

6800 will probably run it on low-medium settings. Remember the game's requirements are restricted by the fact it has to run on the 360 (which is 2005 tech).

Unless they pander to MS and make it DX10 only or something silly, you should be fine.

Toddler wasn't there. Only Pete Hines, some Bethesda lackey (intern perhaps?) and 2 LunchPR.com chicks (they handled european PR contacts for GC Leipzig 2007).

there was some member of the board or director guy walking around too, but he has nothing to do with Fallout 3 i wager. (Bethesda also had another little meeting room)

The other meeting room might've been for other Bethesda/ZeniMax ventures, like ZeniMax online (though that might be a bit early) or Bethesda'published games

I don't know if he actually thinks that, but it's a good way to publicly discount our opinion. Very obvious straw man

Any other Gears of War conventions that have been lifted, besides the 3rd person shoulder cam that they don't actually care for?

I had the nagging feeling there'd be lots of comparisons to GoW I could make, but I never played it, so I can't tell

Was the inside of the bar correctly proportioned to the outside?

Couldn't really tell, but it looked correctly proportioned as far as I could see

Well we're getting a few Bethesda responses now..... apparently Pete rang the community manager and warned him that NMA had a Q&A with him... apparently they are a bit put out because they weren't meant to have any fansites interviewing them, only the gaming press.

It's all a bit unprecedented isn't it? I can't remember seeing anything like this happen before, during the involvement of any game.

But what really irritated me was Summer's post:

Summer said:

Well, she THINKS the Beth-appointed schoolmarm for all us naughty Falloutfankiddies.

she's really just kind of a common internetard as far as i can tell

This ninja-reporting is probably the greatest thing to happen in fan/dev relations in the history of games. Brilliant!

Investigative journalism at its best. This should happen more often and in a more aggressive form. If the industry is spewing shit, let this be our umbrella in the shitstorm. Thumbs up!

Ok, once again I must remind you that this thread will be closed if it goes off into how other forums are treated or talked about. Should you feel someone is flamebaiting you rather than just stating a position or if someone is flaming another site, report it and let the moderators sort it out. But this line of discussion in this thread will get this thread locked.

You already know that there are those here that do not agree with those places so flamebaiting them is also a bad idea. It goes both ways.

High and mighty, noble and brave Summer strikes a blow against the evil Fallout fans!

God forbid someone talks about how other forums are being treated. Btw, I've got a response from Beth community manager:

Howdy Pardner,

I'm one of the admins of a site called R P G Codex. Perhaps you've heard of it once or twice. I used the site's "logo", displaying the name of the site, but apparently it was both an inappropriate link (which it wasn't, it was a simple jpeg) and a censor bypass (which it also wasn't). Anyway, the offensive avatar was removed. I don't usually expect anything good from Bethesda, but since you are a new guy I would like to entertain some hope that you are smart enough to realize that the censorship thing is rather pathetic, and might actually do something about it.

Let me know,

VDweller

Thanks for the message.
You are very welcome.

Do you censor all sites where "the offensive language and conduct found"? I mean, I've seen some official previews featuring the F word a lot, and Todd Howard often uses it to spice up his presentations.

Here:
http://www.shacknews.com/featuredarticle.x?id=411

"The first thing people usually ask us is, 'Why the fuck are you guys making Fallout?'" laughed Howard.

Not to mention Fallout 3 features a lot more swearing than I see on our forums:

"Let us in, motherfuckers"
"This is my town – you so much as breathe wrong and I’m gonna fucking end you."

You don't have to thank me for bringing these things to your attention. I'm just doing my civic duty.

We have no intention of pulling them.
Of course not. And I'm not asking you to do that. It's embarrassing for Bethesda, it's amusing for everyone else, and it's quite pointless as it doesn't stop our articles from getting through.

However, I would really like to keep my R P G Codex avatar. Would that be a problem?

Hugs and kisses,

VD
