Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
It’s sad because Ubisoft used to make some cool games. Tom Clancy games (even as recent as Wildlands and early Siege) Far Cry, Call of Juarez, The Division, and a few others. It’s no secret that most of the talent behind those games are long gone. Now Ubisoft requires you are always online (and logged into their jank bug-ridden website) and charges a premium for literal downgrades in their games. Not only do they make “chud” gamers upset with forced diversity they also make normie gamers upset for just being greedy suits selling a product instead of an actual game. They might even die before EA or Blizzard.
I would add Rayman and Prince of Persia.

They seem so creatively bankrupt it's not even funny. Their latest hits are mostly copy pasted open worl with rpg elements and crafting sandbox games. Even their great hit Ass Creed diverged so hard from initial premise, it's not even funny.

I used to be big into Seige. That was their last game I really got into. I imagine the game is completely unrecognizable now.

Any particular reason for that?
Was it something that Ubisoft did or just markets moving in general?

Ubisoft released their annual report
Shares of "Assassin's Creed" maker Ubisoft Entertainment plunged Thursday after the group set guidance below analysts' expectations for the current quarter, signaling a slow start to the new fiscal year following a strong fourth quarter.

At 0830 GMT, Ubisoft traded 15% lower at EUR19.86. The stock is down 22% in the last 12 months.

The French videogame maker expects net bookings of around 275 million euros ($299.3 million) for its fiscal first quarter to the end of June. Citi analysts said in a note to clients that Ubisoft's forecast is somewhat underwhelming since Visible Alpha consensus stood at EUR361 million.

Ubi Soft also used to be a localizer/publisher for games developed by others, including Defender of the Crown, Interplay's best-selling title of all-time Battle Chess, Pool of Radiance, and Unreal:

Ubisoft Outlines Skull and Bones Season 2 After ‘Tremendous Response’ to the Game Since Launch

https://www.ign.com/articles/ubisof...-tremendous-response-to-the-game-since-launch

Season 1 soon followed, and now Ubisoft has confirmed what to expect from Season 2. “Let us begin by saying how amazing it has been for all of us working on Skull and Bones to witness the tremendous response from our entire community since the launch of our game,” Ubisoft said in a blog post.. "From the ways our players engage with our game and content, to the ton of screenshots, videos and livestreams shared across social media, Discord and Reddit."

“It is thanks to your incredible engagement, that we were able, throughout Season 1, to observe, listen, understand, and more importantly react to your feedback on a weekly basis," Ubisoft continued. "Our commitment continues to remain the same - to create and update our game together, with our community. This wouldn't have been possible without the passion and dedication you've shown to Skull and Bones.”

I hate the whole “seasons” thing. Isn’t this a single player game?

No it is a multi-player game with optional PvP.

Prince of Persia is apparently still creator owned, he just has to license it to Ubisoft to make games because there's no other publishers in France.

One thing I've noticed with these shows (About time) is how the devs are usually presenting the games as if they're unique and impactful in the industry and will drive all things forward. But in reality, these said games are the most undercooked, uninspired and generic shits that we've seen thousands of times before. There's no wrong in doing stuff that's been done before mind you, but at least put something new and refreshing into the mix rather than shoving a fucking lgbtq character into and call it a day.

Ubisoft shares soar after double upgrade by Jefferies, target increased by 47.5%

https://www.investing.com/news/stoc...-by-jefferies-target-increased-by-475-3509816

....
One of the main points raised by Jefferies to justify this upgrade is Ubisoft's changing monetization strategy, which is increasingly turning towards recurring revenues through subscriptions. In January, Ubisoft rebranded its subscription service, marking a strategic shift towards a more stable revenue model. This change is expected to provide substantial financial benefits by stabilizing revenues, increasing customer engagement, and expanding their market reach.

Jefferies also highlights the strength of Ubisoft's game pipeline for the 2025 fiscal year, which relies on proven intellectual properties. Notable upcoming titles include "Star Wars Outlaws" and "Assassin's Creed Shadows." These releases are expected to play a crucial role in Ubisoft's financial performance, with significant sales forecasts for these games.

Furthermore, Jefferies analysts believe that Ubisoft is currently undervalued compared to its peers and its own historical trading. The bank sees several potential catalysts that could trigger a revaluation of the stock, including the release of Ubisoft+ subscription growth figures, the launch of new AAA games, and the integration of Activision Blizzard (NASDAQ:ATVI)'s cloud games into the Ubisoft+ service.

Comparing the Ubisoft+ subscription model to other services like Microsoft's (NASDAQ:MSFT) Game Pass, Sony 's (NYSE:SONY) PS Plus, Spotify (NYSE:SPOT), and Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX), Jefferies concludes that Ubisoft+'s profitability could improve. This is especially true since, unlike its competitors, Ubisoft does not have to bear significant recurring costs to renew content licenses, as it already owns most of its catalog.

Ubisoft is laying off people now because they know something you don't.

They have the actual pre-order numbers for Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin's Creed shadows.

If things don't turn around on launch day, there will be far deeper cuts.

These cuts need to happen, like thinning the herd or removing debris from forests to prevent bigger fires.

Ubisoft is absolutely infected with DEI and excessive bloat in hires. I hope they retain as many productive devs as possible and trim where the trim really needs to happen: deadweight activists and middle management.

I think they're just using the opportunity to jump on the bandwagon. Especially since 15 studios and almost 6000 people worked on AC: Valhalla. Third-worlders or not that's a lot of paychecks.

I'll never get over for Disney killing Star Wars 1313. It got everything to be a great scumbag simulator.

What we got here with Outlaws? *karate hit on plastic helmet* "Whoops sorry haha!"

What's next? Kay finishing off a Rancor with a Vulcan grip?

Well after the Rey saga turning the whole franchise into Avatar: Last Airbender nothing is impossible.
