Soo...anyone tried the new dungeons yet?

I'm not planning to go back to MMX anytime soon unless the hivemind starts raving about the new content.
I've finished the fortress of crows and level design is better than the one in the vanilla game but still not groundbreaking.Enemies were elite Spectres/Ravenous Ghouls/Skeletal Spearmen and the final boss.I was overpowered for them so maybe you'll want to get an older save. There were also a couple of easy puzzles in the vein of the previous stuff.

Limbo,I've just started it and it seems to be more of a joke dungeon(though a fully fledged one) were devs put themselves as NPCs or monsters.

Not tried the other one yet.

A month after release, and Ubi's already giving a 25% discount? I hope that doesn't meant its sales were disappointing. Also, it's not a nice gesture toward all the fans who bought early access at full price. No, I'm not complaining about $7, but the principle behind it. "Oh, you guys bought early based on trust in the developers' ability when you could have waited a month for a patch, numerous reviews and a 25% discount? lolol"

Are you also deeply concerned for the customer when the grocery store puts tomatoes on sale? I mean, on Monday, some poor scrub paid 1$ for a lb, and now they're 50 cents. Pure slap in the face to all loyal tomato lovers, Safeway. Way to fucking go.

The difference with tomatoes is that people buy those regularly and the sale is governed either by surplus, or the fact that they're not as fresh. Gamers generally, but not always, buy a game once. Entertainment products, whether video games, music, or movies, usually make the bulk of their income during the year after their initial release (while they're still "fresh").

I'm not a big fan of all these sales, since it cheapens the product. Rightly or wrongly, there is a perception that something is lower quality when it has a lower price, especially when the original price is cut (i.e. discount bin). I can't remember the last time I've bought a game full price on GOG.com (ok, I actually can remember, but that's because it was a gift), since I know there will be a summer sale, Christmas sale, or even a random weekend sale. By the way, I don't want to suggest that I'm ok with the $60-70 per game trend.

Its their product and they can do whatever they please with it in a free market, but they shouldn't be surprised when consumers decide they'll wait for reviews/sales (though Kickstarter trends suggest this won't be a problem anytime soon).

That's the way it usually seems to work nowadays. If it's one of the year's big titles the discount comes after six months to a year instead. Steam Sale culture.

MMX made me reinstall MM7. No, I've actually never uninstalled it, but I simply forgot to continue right at half way. Heck, it's making me want to install Wizardry 8.

Now there is one thing that MMX do suck compared to good old MM6 and 7: exploration. MMX is full of things to explore in every rook and cranny, and the gameplay length is very decent (I think I put in 30 to 40 hours to reach the end game), but let's be frank, the world is smaller than the old games and there are too many backtracking. A lot of places - especially the cities - look big and mysterious, but most are in fact just corridors cleverly decorated to look epic and full of depth. There are so many dead ends and background decorations around that make me feel disappointed that there aren't more content into it. The world size leaves more to desire as well, it feels big at first, but after clearing out the mobs (especially those tough roadblockers), you'll find the world is really small for travelling.

Now combine an empty world with lots of running back and forth for trainers, and the annoying party/city barkings, it makes me feel the gameworld less attractive to replay. Everything just seem so small and worse, predictable for me. For comparison the memories of MM6 makes me think it's fondly epic sized. From the freezing north to the scary as hell Dragonsands in the south, the world truly gave me the feeling that I can never fully explore it. Yet with MMX, it simply doesn't have such feeling.

But I do see there are lots of potential in the game. It seems to be very new content friendly, and if they can make an expansion set to explore a bigger outdoor world it'll be fantastic.

haha wat. So did they remove the -50% damage modifier or boost bow base damage?

Sounds like it would put ranged on par with melee and Ranger almost at Bladedancer-tier cheese. Damned Elves get all the cheese.

They just boosted the bow base damage. The -50% damage modifier is still there, but that means that bow damage in melee is only effectively 50% instead of something like 25% (because pre-patch bow damage is only like 50% of same-tier melee weapons), and if you have GM, since you're shooting two arrows, you'll get effectively 100% damage. This means ranger/warden finally not suck because they are the only ones who can use bows at 100% efficiency in melee.
That probably means one could derp out and go 3 Perception / 1 Vit every level and spam Point Blank Shot when in melee - fuck daggers, shoot them in melee like Legolas. With retarded attack rating beyond 200 ranger will always hit, but still can be blocked, I guess?
...anyone seen bow of Mana Draining? :MDon't think I did.

True, but let's not be tempted to compare one of the biggest and most expensive games of its day made by one of the biggest developers of the time with a cheap indie project made by a few neckbeard Germans and their dog cobbled together from spare parts found in their daddy's garage.

The Mageslayer? It had mana surge effect exploding spellcasters, not mana drain as I remember.

It does have. Thank god for reminding me of that. Gonna finish the game with that:bounce:

...actually no, even without putting a single point of might into my warden, GM daggers still out dps GM bow against single targets, especially when you factor extra elemental damage into it.

New patch made cheapest mana potions restore 50 mana instead of 150 like it was, and seemed to scale down all other potions. Nice little surprise. I didn't think they will actually raise the difficulty, just fix bugs.

I'm surprised they noticed that detail, especially the health potions were absurdly overpowered.

Attack rating scales really poorly when above enemy evade. 200 AR might give you 90% hit rate instead of 85%. But yeah, boost perception all the way.

I've just confirmed that with the increase of ranged damage, Mageslayer makes my warden effectively having unlimited mana even in melee. Limitless pointblank shots are waaaay more powerful than dagger 6x stabbing now.

That's strange, I've used plenty of those cheapest mana potions, and they restored 50 mana for me.
