People are having performance issues. Different setups produce different results, they're common enough that right now the Steam reviews are down to "Mixed" because of it. I'm on medium-high settings and haven't had anything but some occasional and expected texture pop-in.

I'm thrilled beyond words so far.

  • Story is a bit slow starting up, I am finding myself mashing through dialogue more often than not. I hunted three monsters in my first 2 hours tonight. That's how much talking there is.
  • Introducing new mechanics slowly and methodically is good for both onboarding and immersion. I'm not even at the part of the game yet where the seasons change on their own.
  • Weapon changes are good, IG can bounce off the monster again, revamped Kinsect mechanics not bothering me as much. It's a new, faster, more active combat loop.
  • Locales are just breathtaking, and there are now secret areas that aren't marked on the map until you discover them. The upper lake area in the Forest knocked me off my feet.
  • Fewer dead ends/pointless areas than in World. Anywhere you would have found a dead end in World, you will instead find an underwater section, camping spot, or a Seikret shortcut.
Oh, and before I forget...

Let's squad up, already got one ready to go. I couldn't find anything that looked like a troll, so I am open to suggestions on the icon. I figured a red keyboard conveys the idea of a forum well enough. Squads are cross-platform, so H. P. Lovecraft's Cat that means you can join in, too. Just click "Join New Squad>Squad ID Search" and enter the code from the first screenshot:

I managed to fix that shitty muddy look. Turns out that crapcom turned volumetric fog to 11 and moreover they adjusted volumetric fog color to that shit paste.

Go to config.ini in main folder and set `VolumetricFogControl_Enable` to False and you will get this:

rb3s7AJ.jpeg

That's normal forest. Not "boutiful" one which should be even more green. While lack of volumetric fog hurts a bit visuals in some places the removal of that shit paste over your screen is great improvement. Even muddy desert looks a lot better.

Someone for 100% sure will release mod to adjust fog values in the game. Filters they use to modify colors are still there but lack of volumetric fog means they don't work that much anymore. I think crapcom fucked up something with how filters work with volumetric fog.

Game still lacks proper self shadowing and ambient occlussion but i bet RE framework guys will have Path Tracing enabled soon as they did for DD2 as it is RE engine feature now.

I main now my most hated weapon charge blade and so far moveset changes are ok
ONE OF US

Honestly I'm not too hot about CB. I use it mainly as dodge CB and it is very meh. I will try later doing block CB but from what I see it is super hard to get those guard points properly during attack.

The game really doesn't look that great for how poor it runs. That weather system must be a massive hog. Hope it was worth it.

Yeah it runs like crap for most people. Imho main reason is probably again pathfinding for NPCs because they again vanish out of nowhere like in DD2 and in village you get 50% cut to framerate.

Crapcom has been known for pandering to western gamers for years and that's why they prefer muddy look on their latest games. If I want to experience games with shitty and lifeless muddy look I'd play western made games and soulslike.

This does not look any better and games visuals were designed around the volumetric fog and can look really bad without it, here's an example

on the other hand RE Framework got updated for Wilds so use that with a reshade preset

Left looks much better. The only way it looks worse is where the lack of fog doesn't obfuscate the cartoonishly bad looking skybox that looks pixelated.
Dd2 had the same issue

I played more yesterday and everytime this game puts you inside some cavern , the FPS looks sky rockets to 60fps and graphics looks amazing. Then the monster moves and all goes to shit.. Open World was a mistake.

Calling Wilds "open world" is already a stretch.
I think RE Engine is just a massive turd and DMCV already looked bad and washed out.

Western games are all pink and purple for years now, I have no idea what you're talking about.

There's also plentful of colorful Souls-like, Elden Ring being the most glaring one.

Retarded opinion is retarded.
