With the launch of MK1 around the corner, I’ve received a draft of Mortal Kombat 1’s next trailer from an associate working with NetherRealm’s marketing team. This next trailer is set to debut on Friday at EVO 2023, and will be a trailer showcasing the Outworld Army titled the official “Great Legion” Trailer. Three playable characters will have gameplay showcased during this trailer: Reiko, Reptile, & General Shao. One new Kameo fighter will also be revealed: Motaro. Similar to the previous three trailers, it will be a mix of MK1’s story elements mixed with gameplay. One difference is that unlike the previous trailers which were narrated by Liu Kang, this “Great Legion” trailer will be narrated by Shang Tsung, showing a more villainous side of Mortal Kombat 1’s roster.

The trailer begins with Shang Tsung approaching an unknown figure who is revealed to be General Shao. We see Shang Tsung convincing Shao that he is the only one that can save Outworld from its downfall.

Shang Tsung states that “The Great Legion is one of the deadliest militant forces in all the realms, which makes a perfect vessel for my plans to come”

This story mode clip then cuts into Shao’s gameplay. Following Shao’s gameplay segment is another story clip of Shao commanding Reiko and Motaro to find Liu Kang after learning of his alliance with Li Mei and her Sun Do police force. We then see the clip of Reiko and Motaro confronting Li Mei, which was previously shown at the exclusive Comic Con panel. The clip then again cuts into Reiko’s gameplay along with a Motaro Kameo assist. Reiko has a close range mix-up play style, with his primary weapons being his daggers.

The final character to be revealed in this trailer is Reptile, with a new clip of Reptile and his Zaterran soldiers surrounding Kung Lao, Kenshi, & Johnny Cage. Reptile is the leader of his Zaterran Battalion. A gameplay clip of Reptile is shown with fatalities from General Shao and Reiko following after.

So theory that Havik=King Jerrod is out. My guesses are:

1. Hotaru - Havik's nemesis goes mad and turn Havik himself, Hotaru was also deconfirmed by Boon for being in MK1 roster ('Notaru' tweet)
2. Shujinko - he is that monk form Boon's tweet, Shujinko means 'protagonist' in Japanese so it fits that generic NPC character
3. Hanzo - same tragedy as in previous timelines, went mad instead of dying and being resurrected as revenant - it is the least propable option because it should be kind of disposable character
4. Dairou - Orderrealm origin / expendable fighter

• Ermac is from Shang Tsungs MK11 story ending timeline. He kills Tanya but Quan Chi brings her back—under the stipulation that she serves the Brotherhood of Shadows.

• Unsure if Invasions has a story attached to it.
