Glabrezu Abyss Tower orb fight

This went quickly, got this one on the first try. It was actually requested by one of the SF players on reddit.

Mercenaries and Monsters quest is next.

quick side note, I was not required to pay the Cleric's tithe, no one ever approached me about it. Not sure if this was in error or not, I also may have been invisibile or concealed when first entering the Market district

Some of the encounter spawns in your fights do look to be on the lower side, possibly because playing a character with a multi-class XP penalty is causing you to lag behind the expected level.

Mercenaries and Monsters quest is next.

That is the quest I was suggesting it was probably better to not attempt to fully complete in one shot in my previous post.

I checked the relevant script and apparently you need at least two Cleric levels for this to activate. I set it up long enough ago that I cannot remember if this was intended or a bug, but probably the latter.

Ok, thanks for clarifying those things. I'm ok with that but hmmm maybe I should switch to the highest difficulty? Then again I understand the module isnt balanced for that difficulty.

Yes, I know people complained about that one a bit, let's see how it goes, IWD2 is one of my favorite games and the same things are said about it. Not sure if that's relevant, just saying I've never complained about too much combat in a game.

Do you miss anything major by starting with chapter 3?

I've played 1-2 so many times due to losing my saves so I would like to start at chapter 3 so I actually get to the new content...

Do you miss anything major by starting with chapter 3? ...

The main things (not a comprehensive list) you would miss out on:

1) The special customizable ring for arcane casters and the special customizable ring for those with Turn Undead, if either is relevant to your class. These are acquired in Ch. 2 and upgraded in future installments.

2) Opportunities to shift Zarala's alignment towards good or evil. If you have successfully shifted it by Ch. 4, you will from then on get different dialogue options depending on Zarala's current alignment.

3) In one case in Ch. 5 and hopefully in more cases in Ch. 6, you may have opportunities to re-unite with henchmen from Ch. 5 if you still have the database recording who these were. Without the database, you get default choices that may not reflect your actual history.

I would not say you miss out on anything that major. It depends on how much you care about any of the above. If you know what you are doing it is also possible to fix some of the above by running custom scripts and/or editing the database.

I think you'd be at a large disadvantage equipment wise but maybe I'm mistaken?

Bring in a lot of gold and you can buy equipment in the starting store in Ch. 3 roughly equivalent to what would have been obtained by the end of Ch. 2, though you would miss out on some special class items.

EDIT: point 3 above should have read "opportunities to re-unite with henchmen from Ch. 2"

Thanks so I guess for many builds it wouldn't be that big of a disadvantage and I think at some point I will try some of the fights on an increased difficulty and upload if I can beat them haha.

Also, given my multiclass xp penalty, are my encounters scaled down because I should already be lvl 20+?

There's a "database" folder either in the install directory (diamond) or in documents (EE), with some files in it you should back up.

I wouldn't worry much about encounter scaling, it's just doing its job, right? Besides, you're not using some munchking powerbuild and having fewer levels is even more noticeable for casters. I'd guess the difficulty evens out, bur of course that's a subjective thing.

lol sorry man, I've barely played NWN compared to many players here. I didn't enjoy nwn and its expansions that much compared to IE games, replayed as an adult when EE came out and now SF is the first user created module I've ever played so I'm a noob.

my advice is just play whatever comes to your mind first

be spontaneous and u will have fun

if you want to break the game, get cleric with trickery and travel domains, get improved invis + haste + imp. stoneskin

or weapon master (scythe) with smite good/evil can get 2000 damage on one hit

or pure epic sorc with paladin dip for some insane saves + epic spells

or 2h str-based weapon master with kukri and devastating critical

or wizard with black blade of disaster + greater sanctuary and go make a sandwich

or shifter/monk with dragon form

etc etc

Right, my build is a variation on pure sorc with 1 paladin lvl, to make the char more effective at melee, I took 3 paladin lvls and 1 cleric lvl.

With the caveat that both summons and shapechange are very weak in Swordflight, since the module drops hugely powerful custom enemies on you but leaves summons/shapeshfits mostly untouched.

I've been having visual bugs related to water (it becomes white)
and the only solution I've found is to turn off shiny water.

Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution that isn't just shutting things off?

Yes, something a bit similar - if I force AA through the nVidia Control Panel and enable Shiny Water in the EE, I get an aliased white outline around objects that get between the water and the camera. This is on an RTX 2070 running driver version 516.59 with the EE build v.86.8193.34.1(a), but I've had it for a while now, on prior drivers and builds since at some point after the new EE renderer. Try a driver update or screwing around with settings in there if you've got anything non-standard.

Ulav + Gorav camp fight

https://youtu.be/-XQNy6Qj20E

Used too many heal potions but other than that, I think the fight went about as smoothly as could be expected.

I did not find this quest tedious at all nor did I split up. Again, I didn't find IWD2 tedious because well, I enjoy combat and especially enjoy lengthy, difficult battles.

Hey, it's all talk about Swordflight right now, which is warranted and I don't have anything against it. I have a question though: are there any good modules for NWN2?

Try changing general shader quality under graphic settings. I've had the white edges around water and that ameliorated the issue.

Thanks, but it behaves the same on High Quality and Performance, it seems the only setting that gets rid of it is Minimal, which also gets rid of the wavy water and I assume some other stuff. I'd rather just put up with it, but at least I know what it is now.
