Just from personal experience, last year I had to convince a friend who plays WoW that upgrading from his gtx 670 was a smart idea just for base level non gaming performance.

This already started with more recent videos showing tab targeting combat, and people complaining its not all action...
... even though this was announced years ago.

This game is slowly getting in a playable state it seems. On wednessday there's a stream which will announce the start of the Alpha 2 which you can enter with preordered keys for the game and will run until release through two other beta phases.



I think they hit the nail on the head with art-style and combat. Fuck that full action combat advocates. There's thousands of games for them to pick from, why would they want it in a game that aims for oldschool group focussed pve and pvp content?

I really love how colourful and fantastic everything looks, but at the same time very realistic. It's really delightful. I just think they could scale back the rate of fire of bows and these starwars blaster sounds for it. But that's nitpicking. Compared to other games of the genre this looks miles ahead and very tasteful. I'm very pleasantly surprised, how it looks when it's all coming together.

I really hope that it succeeds. I'm looking forward to it and although it's deeply ambitious, the development team are showing off meaningful progress with each new video that they put out there.

A friend pre-ordered it for me as a gift a few months back so we can - hopefully - play the next test phase together. Which is supposedly soon.

Ah! Another HGL fan. I hear bad things about steam version. I played from discs and even tried the server in 2019. I still get crashes though with win10. This game looks awesome. That is one helluva pvp.

$120 if you want access to all three waves, $110 if you want access to the second and third waves and $100 if you want access on only the third. Note that this includes neither game time nor access to any other subsequent alpha or beta waves.

I'll give this game a shot one day but I'm not impressed enough to pre-order it for $120 with no other perks provided. Especially considering they've already sold thousands of dollars in cosmetics (on a monthly rotation) before the game hit beta.

I think you misunderstand. This is not a pre-order. This does not let you play the full game early. This is access to an alpha version of the game, where you are paying up to $120 to playtest a section of the game for the developers. The thing that people used to be paid for you will now pay for. You're not even doing it for free. You are doing their work and paying them money.

They really trying to min max every last dollar out their audience with this which is kinda shameful and a display of bad business practise even before the games launch. There goes my hype down the drain.... way to kill a boner for a game you motherfuckers

Someone points out that if you take the $375 pack, substract the game time and in-game currency what's left is a bunch of cosmetics Alpha 2, Beta 1 and Beta 2 access for $115. For contrast, with this you pay MORE for JUST Alpha 2. Except you can't buy this pack anymore.

Also all the cosmetics in this pack are vampirism themed, which is kinda funny for such an expensive pack.

The upcoming version of the game is explicitly stated by the developers to NOT be fun to play. A buggy test version that you are meant to test, and not expected to enjoy.
Pay2work4free as a beta tester, an actual beta and not a marketing gimmick.

Yuck. They updated the site's information on playable races with the usual grotesque and subversive art style built for the mythical modern audience:

What's particularly strange is the decision to push a dark skinned woman as the face of the Kaelar despite previously being represented by a fair skinned guy and conforming to European medieval aesthetics. There's already the Vaelune for the tribal desert human niche which is also represented in the art as...an androgynous woman with that damnable side shave hairstyle.

It remains to be seen how far they take it but I'm wary, since the game world and concept art for the environments is really easy on the eyes but so many modern fantasy settings then ruin that by flooding the world with ugly, subversive NPC's. A few people pushed back against it on the official forum for the game, at least, though they were quickly swarmed by the usual concern trolls who pretend as if there aren't a whole lot of recent games flopping due to leaning heavily into ugly and lame aesthetics in the pursuit of ESG/DEI.

That's a lot more tolerable but still different to the original 'vibe'. Ah, well. I guess we'll see for ourselves soon enough whether it's just a case of the artists being out of step with the game or if it's a pivot away from the original tone, aesthetics and premise. I wouldn't ordinarily be so eager to assume the worst but Lost Ark and Blue Protocol destroyed their aesthetics in order to 'embrace diversity' and I'd rather not see another promising MMO flop because of such nonsense.
