Someone can explain why this is illegal (I'm not an expert, sorry)?
Isn't Unity a free engine?

License fee is not the case here. It's the fact, that they claim to have developed their own engine.

But I browsed this neofag thread, and what I saw was not that convincing for me to reach that conclusion (that they are indeed using Unity, not just some plugins/extensions/whatever).
On the other hand, this title and its release is riddled with controversies; starting from the supposed usage of "super-formula" for procedural generation to those latest revelations (no multiplayer in the sense of players interaction, rumors of Unity, scripted presentation on E3 etc).

Some things miners found about this game:

There are a total of 17 different kinds of animals

There is (looks to be) 5 different kinds of NPCs

There are only 4 different planet hazards (Cold, Heat, Radioactive, Toxic)

Both blood splatter & poop splatter are the same pattern

Shaders are dated back to 2008

No unique giant creatures, anything large will just be an upscaled version of what we already see, and there's no universe secrets other than portals

Who would sue them? Apparently people everywhere are digging this turd. And in the end, it's all about the dollars. Who cares if they never make a game again, the scam has already been conducted.

So thats 90% of the Early Access survival, "sandbox" games that sold well on steam.

This thread is really getting funnier with each day.

I think in a year, with all the extra content and polish, the game will worth it on a sale.

I don't think this team is really up for it. All the systems they've made are seriously lacking in any depth and they're derping about "this is an exploration game!" so it's all just to serve the exploration of what their randomizator randomly randomizes up. I won't be surprised when the base building is just as shallow and repetitive as all the other systems. They don't even have a decent interaction with the players about the development unlike other EA games (huehue) which often publish in-depth development updates etc.

And trust me, I'd be so glad to be proven wrong because "Spore but good" would be the game almost everyone has been waiting for but I haven't seen a single substantial evidence that Hello Games are the ones who can do it.
