Ok I am looking for someone with some modding and especially respeccing experience. My current mod setup works fine so far except for one thing, Octavia does not get initialized with a specialist school after I recruit her, making her lose all wizard abilities and her extra memorization slot per day. This does sadly not get fixed via leveling up. The ingame respec option is pointless since you cannot respec a companion entirely. I tried to use the respec mod but it completely changes avatar, portrait and voice pack.
Does anyone know a way to respec companions without changing appearance or voice set?

The respec mod has the ability to preserve companions avatars, rag doll and voiceover. It is written in the manual, but I do not remember where.

I think you need to save and load after respeccing, and the companion's appearance returns back to default.

repost from WotR thread

Portrait I edited for pfk when it came out that might be interesting for some:

Stemming from this ↓ original, where I managed to remove those ridiculous big feathers and slightly sharpen it (in the ones above):

These are not old. They have not been used in any portrait pack I know of (maybe the original but it's not sharp enough, and I have personally not seen it) because I edited the original and made the resize. Have never posted this anywhere until now.

Actually I made an incredibly stupid mistake. I had first fiddled around with Bag of Tricks mod setting her wizard level to 0 and completely forgot to revert the change and even ended up saving it. No wonder everything was fucked up when I tried respeccing Octavia who was already changed by another mod. Now it works fine.

Now the question is should I stick with the basic Transmuter school or pick the Enhancement sub-school.

I don't like changing companion's presets. I think their stats and first level-ups are the part of their characters. If I change this I might as well hire mercenaries changing the point buy to make it "fair" (TM).

Is the latest version 2.0.8_fix ?. 'Cause I updated from 2.0.7b to 2.0.8 and the 'fix' patch wont install. I assume that when Owlcat add the term fix to the game (and all DLC) that it's serious.

I'm playing 2.8 now...just waiting for a bug to reach out of the screen like something out of The Ring though...

On GOG, there was the patch 2.0.8 as the last one, and now there is the patch 2.0.8_fix.

This is true. All DLC has also been updated with the word 'fix' on each file. My understanding is that 2.0.8_fix is the latest patch and 2.0.8 is the version before that. But the actual game files are still 2.0.8.

However - 2.0.8_fix does not install to version 2.8. I've submitted this to GOG and await their response. I'm almost afraid to ask, but - does 2.8 work?.

Game is much less stable with my legit copy than the pirated copy was. Also the pirated copy came with a cool hat and pets.

I'm crashing at least once a map maybe due to having steam using up too much RAM. I'll try tuning performance more.

Not a good look when a pirated copy of a game works better than the real thing. Specs if curious.

I've got this delay when I use the keyboard hotkeys for selecting individual party members. It can be 3-5 seconds, but when selecting them with the mouse - it's more lie 0.5 sec.

Yes I know there's a smart-ass answer here...but I'm ambidexterous when playing RPGs.

So I assume this is a software or engine problem? But can it be fixed with hardware, and if so - what do I need to upgrade? I'd assume ram, or SSD. I think I read in another game that PF:K runs well with 16gb of ram. I've got 12.

Edit: thanks.

Could be your keyboard. How long have you been using it?

I suggest trying a different keyboard and seeing if you can replicate the issue.

I might have asked this already, and remembered someone suggesting it was a memory leak. So yeah - just restarted the game, and the keyboard delay is back to less than 0.5 seconds.

So is that the accepted issue? A Ram leak?.

I'm not sure about this issue specifically, but the game definitely has memory leak issues, though they don't seem as bad now as they used to be in my experience.
