Can someone tell me a bit about the magic system? Did they try to recreate a P&P feeling or is it a MMO-bAlAnce shit show?

I see no real reason to say that the game is better than PoE2, for example.
I'm too early in P:K to judge that, but I wonder how will P:K against Deadfire for multiple approaches to quests. Deadfire is very strong with how you can finish a simple minor task through 5-6 different ways.
That's a good question, dunno either..
Also mechanically there are so many small things that Deadfire does better that I could be listing all day. Like stealth for example. Stealth in P:K is horrible, you don't know when, how or why people detect you. No interface for it at all. Deadfire does it excellently. Or the stacking of items. Ffs why don't items "auto stack" when they go in the stash in P:K? Also why only ONE potion on the quickslot and not a small stack? So so many things...
But still!
What Pathfinder would realy profit from would be a NWN-like toolset / modding tools.

after playing Pathfinder I feel like Sawyer shot himself in the foot by implementing his own ruleset.
Been saying that since day one. PoE should have been based on d20, but Sawyer's ego got in the way.

The ruleset he designed in excel (lol) is a complete travesty IMO.

Steam says I got 30h in the game (part of that is playing with another character) and I am still in Act 1. I am taking it slow and enjoying every moment. So far this is the game I have been waiting for since BG2.
It is even better than IE games in many aspects (mostly to do with difficulty, limited resting and such).
D&D games that were made in between like NWN2 are completely blown away by this game. All the PnP rules that those games were afraid to implement actually made P:KM a better game than them.

I am even enjoying the companions, VO and conversations. Linzi is fast becoming Minsc of this game (Note: I loved Minsc) for me.

I am one of the biggest BG fans on this forum but I am slowly starting to let go of it and embracing this new love. Next 100h of playtime will help me determine that.

He does seem to have become more humble since PoE though. One wonders what conclusions he made personally, and within a close circle.

Does anyone know how the alchemist surgeon works? I can sort of guess the other two (one throws bombs, the other sneak attacks), but what does 'healing other npcs with infusion' mean in practice? Sitting down and brewing herbal teas?
Afaik alchemist beneficial potions (and/or mutagens) work only on himself. Surgeon can use them on other teammembers.
Well I just tried one, he managed to nearly kill himself in the first tutorial fight with his own bomb...

edit: turns out apparently they are bugged right now and you can only target creatures with bombs, but not the ground
Press CNTRL while using any AOE, it wont snap to people.

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.

But still!

As I tried to say in my mini not-really-a-review comparing this and POE2... Deadfire has a bunch of systems that feel fairly mature (which I'd expect since it's a sequel). They just don't necessarily come together to form something better than the sum of its parts, probably because they're married to entirely new mechanics that JES shat out for no reason whatsoever.

There're definitely some polish issues missing with P:K, but I'd expect that as it is the initial implementation of pathfinder into a RTwP system... and even wtih those issues, it's just more fun to play. Hopefully, in a sequel, they'll iterate on those, rather than engaging in a random bout of sawyerism and changing everything just for the hell of it.

I totally forgot that they're planning at least 3 DLCs.
Is there no end to the incline?

From the Imperial Edition..

A Season Pass. The Season Pass will automatically get you access to the first three packages of post-release downloadable content. These additions expand the world of the Stolen Lands and add new companions, locations, buildings, items, and most importantly - new adventures, memories and emotions for you to experience!

There is no stopping the Hype Train
:hype:

Anyone else have the issue that your entire inventory becomes invisible when you click on another inventory tab other that show all?

Try scrolling up. It might just be that you were scrolling down when viewing you inventory and when switching to the other tabs you stay in the same place

I don't know if you guys know/noticed this but when you sneak attack with Octavia using touch attack spells, sneak attack damage is same type as base damage. This lets you ignore DR of most enemies with her attacks.
Like how she destroyed Skeleton Champions with Distrupt Undead+Sneak attack or fucked up trolls regen with Acid Splash+Sneak Attack.

Also if you plan to make her an Arcane Trickster, there is a feat that gives +1d6 sneak attack, take that instead of giving her 3 rogue levels. 1 rogue level + that feat is enough to quality for arcane trickster.

How do you check what version of the game you have? I was in beta so it's supposed to be maxx edition, but I'd like to make sure...

Fix the bugs before starting work on the DLCs would be a good thing to see in a dev, but considering they have already planned the release dates...

They released 3 hotfixes in 3 days and the first big patch is on its way for this Friday.
It looks like everything will be fine bro

I'll believe it when I see it.

There is at least one game released that 15 years later still is full of bugs, many of which are made worse by the fucking retard fanboi "fixing" them (but was more interesting in ramming his ideals on unsuspecting players).

I have zero faith in any game developer post-2000 of coming up with a game that did not have game-breaking bugs in them and not bothering to fix stuff but instead go on to the next big game.

Applause, please! Yeah, I'm usually not a big fan of bards or halflings, but she's got a place in my party.
I agree, it's really good. Just thinking of comparing the characters and VA in P:K with Deadfire/PoE causes me pain.

Funny that the ratings on GoG are much better than on Steam. GoG users rated it collectively 4/5 while Steam is around 3/5. I wonder why they offer the game at 46.39 Euroshekels only to load that extra money over the usual price of 39.99 Euroshekels on your wallet. I guess as an incentive to continue to buy on GoG which I find a but scummy tbh.

Also found this review on Steam by a user who is going by the name of "Randomidiot":

"14.6 hrs on record
POSTED: 30 SEPTEMBER
Currently nine out of ten negative reviews are something like this:

#Discussions_QuoteBlock_Author
"This game is bad, I can't beat the first side quest with spider swarms because you have to use fire/acid/magic to kill them! You have to be a sorcerer to win this game!"
In other words most people claim that in the first few hours you already get cheesed by the developer. After about 7 hours into the story I've deduced these people can't be further away from the truth.

Long story short, yes... there are a few enemies that have to be killed with specific types of damage. In normal circumstances fire or magic/enchanted weapons will do the trick. However, most of these enemies have no resistance, which means you can just damage them normally and let someone with fire, acid or magical enchantment do the final hit.

#Discussions_QuoteBlock_Author
"But what if I don't have that in my party?"
One, you start out with two free torches. If you have played other RPG games and you know what you are doing, this will suffice.

Two, you can start out with a friggin' OP barbarian build on a female companion (Amiri) that, considering you are level 1, has been given an overpowered +1 enchanted 2H sword... with extra damage. You can also have a few other powerful companions to obtain in the prologue. Older DnD games never gave you free +1 weapons at the start, you know.

Three, you obtain a level up before you encounter these types of enemies so this gives you plenty of room to build your companions the way you see fit... and they aren't locked into classes like some NPCs were in the older Neverwinter Nights games so right at the start you can customise your party to your liking--and needs!

Four, I had already obtained enough loot for money to buy a +1 Mace... if I wanted to. But I didn't need to and none of my characters plan to use maces, so... why would I.

If you don't know DnD mechanics don't blame that on this developer. This game is extremely accurate AND enjoyable in how they have implemented it. There's probably lots of small gripes I can mention that I have with this game, but none of them kill the joy I have while playing this. I am actually quite outraged that SINCE MANY YEARS they made a proper DnD PC Game again... and then all these little kids who don't know how DnD mechanics work swarm it with negative reviews?

Do not believe a SINGLE word of what those people are writing. This is in fact the DnD game you have been waiting for.

These 7 hours into the game I have only encountered two problems: level up pages not being loaded or skipped, which is fixed by just *shocker* going a page back and then forward. The second bug was that for some reason if you alt+tab out of the game my keyboard stops working in the game. Fixed by restarting the game and not a huge deal.

I'll transform this into a proper review as I put more hours into the game... for now I just want to rant at the kids downvoting this game because they don't know how to play. Game works fine, as intended. "

GoG offers older rpgs which are not available on steam, so many people join specifically buy and play them, which means they are more tolerant to roughness and oldschool design if the game if worth playing.

I'm climbing back into the cockpit after ejecting years ago because this game is too damn good, and the Steam forum for it is too much of a shitshow to even bother with. This is so much better than PoE for an Infinity Engine knockoff it's ridiculous, and it even feels like an improvement to the IE games in some respects (The relatively common skill checks being a prime example). Speaking of the skill checks, god damn. You can actually fail them, too. It's not like Tyranny where within an hour or two of play you've got enough skills across your entire party to instantly succeed every check that comes up so you never fail at anything. Linzi can roll a 1 like the fucking retarded piece of shit she is and trigger that web trap and leave you with your cocks in hand for a few minutes until the duration runs out. And this isn't bringing up the quality of that opening dungeon or how many different ways you can fuck with/weaken the confrontation with the stag lord. I didn't even know you could poison his wine until a buddy told me long after the fact. Didn't show up for me because it's a hidden skill roll by the "DM" and only appears if you succeed.

The inflated stats on enemies are pretty fucky (Both in the absolutely broken range, and in the "Random shitty no-name generic bandit with 18 STR and class levels in barbarian" ways) but aren't unmanageable, and things being difficult is a whole hell of a lot better than just facerolling everything. Not only that, the C&C in some of the quests. Going after Tartuccio first or the bandits first changing the other quest being a quick and dirty example. Making time matter in a CRPG rather than tasking you with some dreadfully important Earth-shaking task and then letting you fuck off to go hunt a wumpus and play children's card games like a maniac. Really, really good shit.

I literally spent five minutes bashing Spider swarm before i figured That Swarm actually acts like Swarm. Also Aligment Response actually makes sense, Lawfull Good Being your Classic Inflexible Paladin in Shining Armor, Neutral Good Pragmatic hero, Chaotic Good Smartass Who is unphased by things, Neutrals are good as well, but its evil where it Truly shines. Neutral Evil is clear selfish but sensible, Chaotic Evil actually being Fuck you i do whatever i want rather than outright psycho, And Lawfull Evil feels like Ruthless dictator taking care of things in organized way rather than just Psycho with some limitations. I also love the Aligment locked Stuff- If you are Chaotic you can make Kobolds and Mite worship your Boots for example Or Recruit Monster Invasion leader you defeated.

Yep also Skillchecks actually do matter, You can Catch Tartucio first try if you go after Him and then succeed on bunch of hard skillchecks and make smart decision in Gamebook, leading to you figuring Spoilery info faster than you would otherwise and you can be proactively and track him down instead of Waiting for him to show again. Also The dub really shines in that moment as you can hear the frustration.

Also you can Lose access to companion you would get in 1 Chapter until chapter 2 if you take your time with Certain area. You can get one of the two companions that didnt go to you two hours early if you succeed on skill check ETC.
