So this game turned out to be good in the end? Great gotta wait my salary then get it!
If you have to wait for your salary to buy a computer game, it may be better for you to save the money for more important things, like, you know, a home?

He has something with Linzi :)

Are you saying
Avellone cucked players with their waifu of choice?

That's really something.

He wants to kill her. He also destroyed all her papers. :)
What a relief. Better a bully than a Chad.

I thought "Normal" critical hits and "normal" enemies would be core rules.

Can't speak for crits, but even P:K's baseline monster stats are inflated over the RAW. Russians.

A whole bunch of people seem to have the same gamebreaking bug that I had in chapter 4, not looking good. They ought to fix this shit asap, before others catch up and tank the score.

With the level of optimization you can get out of 6 character party even with story companions, pre-buffing and other shit, if you'd only fight standard OGL encounters you would crush them. Not even select all > left click.

I still think they should have had Core Rules difficulty from the start though, because that is what players expect, and you gotta meet expectations of what they want to play.

As Cael has noted, the solution here is to make the battles tougher through various combinations of adding more enemies, levels, and better equipment (where applicable), not giving them unearned attributes.

uh, more levels is more "unearned attributes" lolz. then people would argue you shouldn't fight CR5 with level 4 party, because that is not how it is in the pnp module

or like in Deadfire, bitch that there are too many enemies.

As for now, enemies might be hard, but at least they have reasonable and tame numbers and provided you do correct tactic, you will win.

there are already stuff like interesting equipment on enemies making them harder, traps, ambushes, and other stuff.

also difficulty through sheer numbers is not really that big of a improvement over some stats.

Probably. My PC is from 2012 and has memory issues (bad HDD, I think) from way back. Probably on its last legs, to be honest. I should buy another, but ehhhh, effort...

To be fair to it, it isn't that bad. It suffers from a lot of the problems that plague modern games: early release resulting in a lot of bugs, lousy engine (Unity... *spits*) resulting in bad load times, bad writing, SJW characters (at least it is not that bad in this one) and characters with wangst from 10000 paces. The major problem is that it is advertised as a faithful copy of a PnP written module, and, well, it isn't. It is probably closer than anything that has ever been attempted, but it is not not close to close. The psycho bosses and random souped up mobs is a good indicator of this.

That said, it does seem to have a lot of the mechanics right but I wouldn't expect anything more than a NWN type experience insofar as challenge goes. Relatively hard at first, but then becomes insanely easy later. This is due to the fact that the game devs doesn't appear to know how the game is balanced and, like many DMs that I have seen, tried to tinker with the numbers (bigger numbers, moar numbers, GOOOOOD!!!) and unleashed an uncontrollable beast.

If you want a game that is hack and slash wth a side of tactical combat and kingdom "management", this is probably for you. Think ToEE expanded... with that bloody Balor as every boss.

How do enemies vary in tactics? Any memorable encounters so far, due to the composition and placement of enemies?

You have no frakking idea what you are talking about, do you?

When you set the level of the encounter, you take into account what is the condition of the party. Have they fought 3 other equal ECL encounters already? If so, limit your ECL to equal or 1 above at most. Alternatively, allow them to rest and then hit them with a ECL+4 encounter, but make sure they have a chance to get out and rest up afterwards. All this is up to you as DM, especially in an environment like a cRPG, where you get to dictate the number and kind of encounters they get to the nth degree.

And fighting a CR5 with a level 4 party isn't the problem. Fighting a CR5 and 3 CR3 and having to fight another 6 CR3 to get there, that is the problem. Do you even know what is the difference between CR and ECL? Owlcat doesn't seem to!

And here is the worst part: Going from standard stats to elite stats is an effective CR increase of 2. This is straight out of the MM. Owlcat increased the stats by about 3 times that, closer to 6 times with things like AC and BAB. And that is before you start adding class levels. Son, your CR1/3 goblin just turned into a CR14 monster.

That. Is. Fucked.

abandon ship
Oh puh-lease. I didn't even complain that much about it until the retarded owlbear came up. The worst I said about it up to that point was the damned half-orc wangst that you can feel from 10000 paces.

Well Staglord is the most simple example. A Sarevok-turned-Archer on hard to reach ramp with a wave of meat to protect, pair of high level goons using invisibility and sneak attacks and owlbear ambushing you from cage

all that can be de-constructed by stealthing around his camp and using skill checks, bribing bandits etc.

retarded owlbear came up
btw that is that owlbear you can lock in his cage on make attack enemies I take it.

Finally got my key from the Codex fundraiser.
Since I already have a key and no idea what to do with two of them, I will give this spare key to the first person to write "I am a banana" after me in this thread.
