But... but... I thought you didn't have to alter P&P rulesets for digital? And for BALANCE?!?
Depends on the amount of freedom and resources player has. And for some people, even Story mode is not Story enough.

Also I am not sure what are you talking about when saying altering rulesets. Altering enemy composition and levels is not altering rules.

True, but that's semantics. You got my point. I was teasing the fact that Owlcat - correctly IMO - identified that BAB vs. AC scaling has always been a problem in 3.5 and Pathfinder, making AC pretty useless unless you went all-in on it in one form or another. As such I don't even oppose the inflated stats myself.

(Dedicated 3.5/Pathfinder minmaxers often sarcastically say that initiative is the most important stat since low HP pools and lack of defenses mean combat can often be over during the first round)

Just fired it up ... and man, what a nostalgia trip this is. Everything that's great and terrible about old-skool arrpeegee mechanics in one shiny package. I think I like it.

I kinda expected something one step north of shovelware, but this is clearly much better than that. We'll see how well it holds up.

The alchemist that wants 3 books. What does he get you in the end? He is bugged in my game. He shows up from time and time but he has the same line and gives me nothing. Mostly just curious about this magical potion he is brewing.

Potion of eternal youth but you cannot do the quest unless you are evil. I think.

This is coming after Prime Junta in April:
TBH I've been getting a bit burned out on the whole genre. It's just endless repetition of a handful of basic themes, over and over again. You've got your Fallout clones, your Baldur's Gate etc. clones with your choice of TB or RTwP combat, your hiking simulators in both kinds of settings, and that's it. Good for mindless fun but nothing more than that.

Once in a blue moon something different comes out and usually faceplants.

If Disco Elysium disappoints, I'm quitting RPGs. I'll go back to nerding out on flight sims.

Won't stop me from bitching about them here though. Neener neener.

Yeah I know. I actually typed "only thing I'm not sure about is, am I too old for this?" in the previous message but I didn't want to be a wet blanket all the time so I deleted it. Still true though :(

Oh my god, it happens with every stash, I can't put any item in stashes without losing their enchantments and it also messes my inventory by not letting me sort the items:negative:

Yeah even though I like the game I think I'll wait a bit for it to get patched up and restart with a mage. I like my dwarf but he kinda "collides" with Harrim whose nihilism I enjoy

I've gotten the feeling of being "too old" a couple of times as well. Turns out I was just playing a shit game. PoE with White March, Blackguards (especially Blackguards) and now PoEII convinced me that's not the case at all. When this shit is done well it's still my second favourite pass time right below getting drunk and yelling curse words at political opponents in bars

Nah, I meant SA. Obsidian forums have been overall positive about this game last I checked, surprisingly so.
Ah, SA. From what I've seen screenshot of that place, it's not surprising they would indulge in the game and then make up hipster justifications why it's not really good. Guilty pleasures.

I had a problem where my party couldn't leave an area, and I was stuck there. I didn't feel like reloading and I haven't started the game since. I think I'll wait for some more patches, reading other people's issues too.
That said, the Rogue protagonist is working out pretty well. In most encounters you can get behind enemies without being mauled, flanking is pretty straightforward. And a friendly reminder to consume consumables. They aren't called hoardables after all.

Okay I was wrong about the trolls, it's the BRANDED trolls that are the real trouble.

I want to say there's an Axe (Ruined Watchtower? I'm forgetting now), called trollreaver with some nice acid damage modifiers. My Fighter-main wasn't spec'd out for axes in particular, so I basically couldn't benefit from all my really nice weapon spec choices (I spec'd Elven Curved Blade... though the best one I've found is Keen +1, and the Critical Threat Range shows as indentical on the weapon?). However, the acid damage on it turned out to be a clutch option for the troll subquest-line.

One of the two default merchants in the capitol has an acid flail too I think, and if you're using Octavia... she spams acid splash non-stop anyhow.

The problem isn't finishing them off, the problem is that you can't CC them, can't tank them and they come in groups of 3+

Eh. I just don't get why hardcore RPG ruskies would apply such arbitary and unelegant flat bonuses to enemies. Thus making true core rules impossible.

What kind of proper autist would do that?

Careful guys, don't use the Take All button in your Stash chest, it fucks up your weight and inventory system with phantom items. It's rather gamebreaking.
