Arcane
Currently starring at the Valerie duel...31 AC vs 38 AC, who shall win?
My guess is to go for the arcane trickster, but I have no idea what the reqs are and whether you even have to be a wizard/rogue. Other classes like magus might qualify too, and then there is this one alchermist kit that gains sneak attack. Tbh, I am still figuring out how basic skills work, so forget advanced chareacter building...So I've just discovered you can sneak attack with spells... :D That's it, the half-elf is in, the little blond annoyance is out.
Just wondering. Is it worth to take one level as rogue on my wizard just to be able to sneak attack with spells? Is one level enough?
Mine is actually an Ecclesitheurge, and he's not very optimized at all. I made some poor decisions on creation. Clerics are extremely versatile, though, so it's largely up to what you want to achieve.
Scorching ray. One cast at 11th caster level gives you 3 sneak attacks dealing 4d6 fire damage base each and whatever your sneak attack is to each.So I've just discovered you can sneak attack with spells... :D That's it, the half-elf is in, the little blond annoyance is out.
Read this excellent guide on how to build an arcane trickster, you wont get every feats of the pen and paper version, still it will give you a good idea on how to not fuck it up : http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=86704404073189531172My guess is to go for the arcane trickster, but I have no idea what the reqs are and whether you even have to be a wizard/rogue. Thanks! How does it work for the magus/rogue, then - If he casts a spell that can be sneaked, and then attacks with a weapon (the spellstrike thingy) does it all add up?My guess is to go for the arcane trickster, but I have no idea what the reqs are and whether you even have to be a wizard/rogue. If it's made of mithral the max AC bonus from dex goes up by another 2 points (and the armor counts as 1 category lighter except for proficiency - this is meaningful because bards can spellcast in mithral medium armor and avoid losing speed wearing 'em). Also Reflex saves and Initiative bonuses are valuable. Other than that it contributes to mobility, trickery, and stealth scores (and ranged attack, but it seems you're playing a melee character).Going to add another point into dexterity, but that's about it. Max bonus AC from Dex is 1 when wearing the heaviest armor, so I don't see the point of wasting more points into it.
Or am I missing something?
Sneaks adds up and remember you can use the meta magic feats too, scorching ray is your best blast skill, wich you can empoyer to cast ti at higher levels. If i remember well every ranged touch spells are good for the arcane trickster. Thanks! Yet people moan about the game difficulty...Don't look into stacking dmg rolls too much, that rabbit-hole goes way too fucking deep.
You can technically make attacks with well north of 100d6 damage... But the basic min-maxed swordlord or whatever is already too much for the game, at least with the occasional buff.
Great point, I will definitely be doing this, although I will still do at the very least a second playthrough, just to see the alternate alignment's side of the story. So I just reached level 9 and I am struggling to resist the urge to start over again. It would be my 6th restart, but the desire to build around items I have discovered, combined with the fact that I keep thinking of new ideas for how I could make my character, are proving incredibly difficult to resist. I will try to endure until I have at least finished the game once. I am really enjoying the experience so far, fights like the Stag Lord and that massive snake in the cave (can't remember its name) have, for the first time in a long time in games, made me stop and think for a bit. I have a very strong desire to murder the bard however, she is very irritating.
Just create new companions based on these ideas. You don't lose anything by travelling with them except banter at camp sites. Besides, there's nothing to spend money on anyway--except some BP. Certainly it's better than to replay the same content ad nauseum.
I poisoned the wine, so I am not certain. I can't think of any examples of interesting armour off the top of my head (I sold anything I wasn't planning to use to a vendor), but here is an example of 1 of the items I quite like:Speaking of, any fancy heavy armors and helmets except the Paladin armor found within the Troll fortress and the Stag Lord's helm?So I just reached level 9 and I am struggling to resist the urge to start over again. And also speaking of the Stag Lord, if you take his wine instead of poisoning it, can you do anything with it?
+6 to all stats for 1 creature is not as potent as +6 to all stats for 5 creatures. One of the reasons why it is bad to have a party face one boss and nothing else. The boss encounter should always consist of multiple enemies. A single big CR enemy is a recipe for a walkover, especially at higher levels. The big owlbear was pretty easy battle. If you are talking about the one in the city. It is really a shame that battles that look interesting and epic end up in a flop after a turn or two, while a five wolfs in the wood endup killing your party. They made it hard in the wrong places.
Alrighty then!
This spoiler may help you not feel bad about your defeat:
The treasure is +2 agile dueling sword (it's exotic proficiency)
Wait, nevermind. Being high on my victory against the greater enraged owlbears, I misread the name of the beast! That treasure is in the swamp...
From testing the roll is done when you access the screen to see the results for them, not when they're selected or finished. They can be easily savescummed.Man, even Kingdom advisers missions seems to rely on rolls or something, after a reload manged to successfully finish after failing the first time.

They also post screenshots as proof. Like whole party, fatigued, in a dark dungeon in a main quest, without even a light spell cast, poisoned, without a single buff, webbed for 15 minutes (while having 2 high level clerics in party) not using main abilities like Rage (or even having them on hotbar).Yet people moan about the game difficulty
