Something needs to be said or a meme created for the current gen of gamers who wouldn't be able to play a rpg like Baldur's Gate.

Too many to quote from Steam, however I saw this on the Obsidian forums
https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/104002-pathfinder-kingmaker-is-bigger-then-deadfire/page-15

Playing on Unfair mode, and the party got one shot by the first 3 assassins. Also, you get two casters intead of frontliners as companions, and cannot rest. I just wonder have the Devs there test play the game on Unfair mode themselves.

This is my experience. I don't mind the difficulty spikes so much as the lack of communicating to the player what's going on. I'm also getting a greater appreciation for the Pillars series quality of life changes to the formula (fast walking, no equipment weight, no fatigue mechanic, etc.)

:negative:
The cutest part is that all those features mentioned are completely optional, and are limited to difficulties above normal by default. If you don't like the encumbrance system just turn it off, I can't comprehend the point of complaining in this case.

Restoration spell (2d level)/potion/scroll.
I wonder how many people finished IE games or any of the NWNs / MotB/ Soz without even casting restoration/greater restoration once (or using top heal for removal of some of those effects)

Someone should buy a copy of Pathfinder: Kingmaker for Darth Roxor

All you oil-princes out there, whip out those wallets! He said he'll play it if he gets it for free.

EDIT: Listen, I know this would probably lead to a negative review, but I think everyone who likes good and challenging games should play this.

One thing that stuck me as strange when I started the game and was choosing the difficulty, is that the difficulty level that seemed most "normal" (i.e. core rules mostly applied) also buffed enemy stats by some percentage. Is that still the case? That may be why people are flipping out over the difficulty.

Maybe? Although it simply seems like people forgot what it's like to play a low level dnd game. It's hard and you can die in one hit easily. Hell in BG you could roll a mage with 3 HP. 3. That meant that if a kobold farted too loudly in your general direction, you were dead.

No wonder Sawyer "balanced" everything. He knows his crowd better than us it seems

Are people seriously review-bombing a game because "too hard", when said game has literally the most difficulty options, toggles and combo boxes I've ever seen in a game?

I mean, I'm not a serious agent of incline, I feel no shame when I play on Normal and even bump certain things down, like reducing enemy criticals, etc. But hating on a game because you can't figure out the great array of difficulty options is just retarded.

Already dropped my positive review, if that counts for anything.

There's also a lot of SJW rant reviews, especially from people that got banned from the steam forum. The moderators there seem to have the same tolerance as the ones from Neogaf, they ban everyone who dares to bad-mouth the game.

Wait, you can select Spell Focus: Universalist and get a straight +1 on all DC checks for all spells?

Well you still suffer 1 less spell per level which can accumulate up to 9 spells and that is just in the standard edition from what I could glimpse specializations offer further benefits in Pathfinder, at least in the P&P version.

Valerie's shitty Dex is barely workable on Normal; on higher difficulties I'd imagine she may never hit an enemy at all, short of crits.
Yeah she can't hit anything on challenging difficulty.
You are using her wrong then. She has a Masterwork Bastard Sword, on lvl 2 you give her Weapon focus for it. You got a bard that gives +1 to attacks every combat. If you got a cleric than you got a Bless with another +1 attack. Charge with her when you can. On lvl 3 the attack penalty from the Tower Shield is removed and on lvl 4 you can start raising her Strength. God damn people. We all used Khalid in BG1 and he had like 15 str that gave him only +1 to damage.

Will be starting this tonight, hoping I can adjust the difficulty to near on "core" rules. Is this possible or should I wait for the inevitable patch?
Yes, just select "normal" in both enemy strengthening options boxes. And you'll really be wondering where is all that difficulty everyone complaing about.

Don't know about evil response, because the only good aligned party member is that halfling bard, Linzi, and I doubt that she will leave.
Linzi can leave. I choosed pragmatic responses and she says something like "this is not the hero to write book about", and then gone with gnome.

Dex has absolutely no impact on being able to hit things (unless you're using weapon finesse on a high dex char).

Valerie is using heavy armour, so there is very little benefit to her having high dex.

Obvious trolling is obvious. As someone who also used to use FTPs and IRC and newsgroups back in the day when I was a teenager: if you know how to use an FTP then using GoG or Steam should be simpler than wiping your ass.

I would go ham on calling out that cunt above and saying exactly this but I'm tired.

All because of these fucking zoomers who don't even fucking play these games anyway. FUCK.YOU.JOSHUA.ERIC.SAWYER.

The game doesn't say anything about losing spells though, that's the odd part.

Anything that makes you lose spells or access to spell schools is bad. +1 to universal DC checks isn't worth that, especially if using a d20 system.

I've been searching for custom portraits and let me tell you, there's a lot of retarded art for Pathfinder. The art direction they chose for this game blows the regular Paizo art out of the water.

Game saving not working on Mac & Linux, even on Windows people report their saves being deleted (!!!!) and settings not saved (!).
How the hell can you mess up file operations using an engine that does it for you in 2018? I'm confused.

I'm not even talking about known Unity cross-platform bugs like broken input on some systems (typing "Dildor" becomes "DDiillddoorr")...

If they had just chosen to actually test this a month more or two before release.
I'd say about half of the negative reviews could have been easily avoided that way.
Now they'll have to live with that mixed review for a while, or even forever if they don't fix stuff soon.
