Defense?

Update: Hosilla's boss fight has no right being this difficult AND having a 2 minutes long unskippable cutscene before it. It's annoying design.

You can adjust the difficulty to an appropriate level for your skill at any time. You’ll improve if you stick with it.
nigger I was playing on hard, I buffed with everything fully healed and your buffs run out during the cutscene btw, and it still took me an hour
git gud

Heroism and Barkskin last through cutscene. Obvious reason for duration is heighten tension/raise stakes by preventing reload spam.

Most boss fights aren’t about CC either. It’s buff, debuff, and bash/bomb.

Seriously you guys assuming that fight is going to wipe you are pathetic. Will you be blaming RNG next?

I must admit, I do hate fights that have a massive long convo tree or cutscene right before. Player punishment should be the shame of loss, not boredom going through the same pre-sequence again.

dev shoulld just make auto save after each long narrative sequence leading to boss fight

Yes, it's a small QOL thing but cuts down frustration massively if you're struggling with an encounter.

Owlcat has done a deft job implementing companions, choices and playstyles to accommodate players seeking an isometric and slightly oldschool pansexual furry dragonfucker RPG experience.

Struggle less. This is part of the reward for mastery. Games without that ruin the tension and get old fast.

Did you know that you can buy Heroism scrolls at the Underneath? Are you familiar with the duration on those bad boys?

How are you not level three by then? Even without the settings shenanigans you should be at lvl three by the end. In general the hard boss fights in Owlcat games aren’t about tanking by design.

Fuck that bitch up before she can open that nasty mouth.

I've no idea. I was still level two, and still am in the Garrison.

I played through that section a few times with different characters over the weekend. None of them were level three. Are you sure you aren't just always screwing around with your skill XP settings early on?

So is the beta GUD? how does it compare to current state kingmaker 1?

in terms of encounter design, it is better. it is utterly buggy tho. In general enemy caster are real fucking dangerous especially when they are higher level.

Heck a random illusionist mage mob that uses Phantasmal Web - Quicken Mirror Image - Phantasmal Putrefaction - Spam Fireball/Lightning Bolt is probably a bigger threat than any Kingmaker boss besides last chapter one.

There is Cleric mob who start way behind bunch of demon mob, initially not visible due to fog of war, and will cast Destruction twice in a row, each dealing 140 damage on failed fort save. Then he says fuck you and cast Blade Barrier in a narrow hallway so you get 40 damage to the face on a failed reflex save on your way to smash him. Bumrush him early ignoring all the demon by Hasting yourself? Cast Blasphemy potentially Dazing/Petrifying your non-Evil party member, then start casting Destruction.

Some would argue that the above is total overtuned bullshit, but it's fun.

Heh, last two run throughs I did in fact. Hard to resist. If you want to play it straight you should at least turn it on once you hit party of four. Doesn’t make sense to divide six ways when you’ve only got four.

Hosilla fight at two would indeed be dicey on Core/Hard even with consumables, but I doubt that was the design. Level 3 is the sweet spot where your class starts to show up so I do like to jump to that ASAP.

The reward for mastery is not having to sit through a two minute boring cutscene?

That sounds like the same autism you see in the russian STALKER modding community where not getting a save corrupting bug is considered part of the fun.

Also by the same logic we should increase loading times artificially to make success more "fun".

I don't think fiddling with the experience toggle is the intended way to play. I remember that in Kingmaker you can get to Level 5 before even reaching the Stag Lord if you toggle correctly, but you overlevel the content real quick if you do that.
Either way, just put a save after long cutscenes as the others have said.

Jesus, your forefathers would play a whole game only the die at like the fight before the boss and have to start the whole thing over and you can’t even be bothered to look at your phone for a minute to let the tension build just a little?

Soyjak indeed. No wonder all your heroes are dickless.

No, the long cutscene keeps you from spamming reload until you roll your 19 and so continuing to suck. You don’t need to diddle the exp at all to hit five by Stag Lord you’d have to skip half the content to avoid it. And there’s no such thing as overleveling the content in P:K.

WtF are you even talking about?

You are not implying that doing something like Ratnook Hill at level 5 and level 10 is the same, right?

It’s going to be at least fifteen years give or take until I’m a grandpa. How’re your progeny doing there, champ? Or are your sperm as weak as your skillz?

Ratnook is optional. The content that matters isn’t, and like Hosilla can’t be meaningfully overleveled.

there is absolutely no difference between reload spamming and just using cheats, so you might as well just pop open the debug console and give yourself max stats instead
