I've been pretty excited for this game for awhile. The demos are super rough but it was an aesthetic that I love. Like a more boiled down and 'grounded' Cruelty Squad, if that makes any sense. Main issues are the games saves. They're comically bad, overwriting whatever you did in your save; locking characters out of interaction and turning NPCs into statues who will refuse to talk to you because of something you've done before you reloaded.
I was trying to carry that android to Filmon but some goon shot the robot, turning it into shit. Reloaded the save and I couldn't talk to the android. Very, VERY annoying.

It's also pretty strange that there are no sci-fi weapons. If there are I haven't seen them. Don't get me wrong I love shit-rods and AKs as much as the next guy but you'd think that there would be some fictional firearms/melee weapons.
Level design is pretty hit or miss to me. A lot of the same complaints people here have already stated. Everything is very non-euclidean, paths that are needlessly long. Glad you have that sprint boost powerup, game would be tedious without it. On the other hand the level design sells that games oppressive atmosphere. That everything was once a soviet jewel now reduced to an utter shithole that continues to exist either out of spite or momentum. It's such a vibe, I can't really think of another game like it (a few films and books come to mind).

Anyways, my main point. I cannot see how this game will be structured in the future. I don't know if any of you can relate but when I play I obviously understand this is just a demo but I don't know how the current content can be fit into a true narrative. If the game comes out and its discombobulated levels with little through line with characters then I'm not sure how well I'll like it. No clue what the main conflict will be. It's all just concepts.

Also one last gripe: I would really like for there to be a way to avoid fall damage. Make it an upgrade, a augmentation power-up, armor I don't care just something to avoid constantly having my damn legs crippled for jumping a few feet higher then I should have.

It's called that because the map is based on the yugobrutalist Western Gate of Belgrade building, aka Genex tower.

200% agree. Unity is absolutely abysmal when it comes to serializing anything, even paid assets for saves didn't work as intended. We're pretty optimistic the current iteration of our custom save system will finally fix the issues and we're aware this is the biggest problem for the game right now.

I've been meaning to reply for a while now, saw that one tweet that's causing a stir today and finally was able to put my thoughts into this.

Future builds will point out the technique for minimizing fall dmg. It's been reported as a bug, so we're making sure it's understood as intended.

Based. "Sci-fi weapons" are just weapons with an Apple store skin most of the time. Historical kino wins any time.

High hopes for this game, bonus points for how nice the tetris inventory looks and operates. I'm also hoping for more weirdness/stupidity like the Red Man TV clip in later levels.

Honestly, as someone who followed this game from almost the very beginning, I have 0 hopes. This game doesn't have much going for it other than the "vibes." The gameplay is mediocre to piss poor on almost all levels.

Grid inventory with mags-loading is nice, but why is it so small and zoomed out though?
My guesses are a) to look more like Dead Space or other games b) to let you see more of the world while inventory is open
But neither of those are convincing as arguments to reduce QOL by making the inventory small and zoomed out.

Slav games used to be dark, gory and sexist (we Frenchies are lost our edge shortly after 2000).

This one looks like another western globohomo.

Interesting take, I generally scaled it to be comfortable to use. I like the way System Shock 1 & 2 do interactions with the game world from inventory so I made it big enough to accomodate that, vid related.

I don't think I ever thought of Dead Space when making it.

Too edgy for some, not edgy enough for others. We're in the goldilocks zone of dark, gory and sexist.

So, when does this release again?
At the same time as Gloomwood and Neverlooted dungeon: never.
Right in the heart. I'll still take being listed among good games as a compliment.

Insert Title Here RPG Wokedex Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
FWIW i find the size fine and, more importantly (to me), i like how "overdesigned" the HUD is (as opposed to the overly minimalistic UIs many games have these days). Even the HUD alone makes me think i'm looking at some cyberpunk work from the 90s / very early 2000s.

Okay, I see what you mean. I just never put that much value in being able to drag stuff from the world to a specific spot in the inventory since you can always just order things around later, and for dropping you don't really need much screen space unless it's for throwing grenades to a spot like in the original System Shock. But I get it.

Some will call it "greebling" but I always liked greebling in this context. Just compare Shadow of Chernobyl HUDs with the later games.

"For you, a bottle of vodka a day is too much, but for me, that's just breakfast."
That's the wavelength the game operates on. Enjoy the demo.

I think I've said that before, peri is primarily a "game we'd like to play" and inventory autism and re-arranging things on the fly is some of the most fun things for me.
Also I now remembered that part of the reason why it doesn't fill the entirety of the vertical space is because I want it to be usable in 4:3 resolutions.

But I've been considering extra UI scale options, perhaps it's time to give it a try.
