Now I'm curious to see whether the Skaen Temple has been changed.

But Skaen temple is totally fine.. Not every dungeon can be Beneath the Beef or whatever.
Like remember in Skaen Temple you can decide how you do it.. do you go left or right?

Much Choices, Such Depth ~ Wow!

I would consider this more elbow ribbing with a side dish of self-gratification. I feel quite smug / justified right now.

Everytime PoE changes something to more align with my personal armchair game designing wishes, I see it as a personal victory against Hipster Jesus.

Freaking shades in Eothas temple have super high deflection and high DR :( I might have to come back later for those.

They're a pretty good practice enemy IMO actually. Once you've figured out a few ways to beat them, you know how the game works and will be able to figure out the rest.

I agree, it's a rite of passage battle. Like the trolls tossing sacks of grain in the Old Rope Guild.

Haven't played since before 2.0... certain tactics involving engagement seem much less reliable :shredder:

German Gamestar magazine gives it an 83 (PoE 92) and complains about the writing. They think it's trying too hard to reach the level of the main quest, but is confusing because important events and motivations are often described in a few short clauses. Some answers reminded them of "philosophy students carried away by esotericism" and the change of heart of some protagonists is brushed over too quickly, generally the story was often too fast and confusing. Also one of the end game decisions lacked depth and so the end is just standard RPG stuff.

The also complain about the balancing :D (in the first fight against the "new enemies", where they had to resort to "easy" difficulty).

Haven't gotten to the new content yet, but the only bug I have this far encountered was getting stuck in combat in Black Meadow. A quick load fixed the issue and it has not recurred since.

Divinity: Original Sin 2
Started up the expansions, and was in for a rude awakening. I had finished the game back when it was still 1.03, and now with 3.0, my old strategies are barely effective. A lot of the more overpowered abilities have been reined in a bit, if not outright replaced.

The end result is that the expansion seems more challenging than I expected. Case in point: I decided to start with the Cragholdt Bluff quest, and my lvl 12 party (that had killed the Adra dragon) had issues dealing with just the initial groups of enemies. And the boss encounter at the end of the area was the most difficult fight in the entire game. I'm playing on hard, and the encounter design from the handful of hours I've played is encouraging so far; hope it's not a one off and the rest of the expansion sees similar challenge levels.

Some bits do seem harder than 2.0 or else my gaem has deteriorated. Maerwald gave me a surprisingly hard time.

He is the same ,still kills his own fire elementals with chill fog if you back out of the room when fight starts. If any it's more bugged as their AI freezes and that actually happens a lot so far.Never had it happen before 3.0,a lot of enemies will just stand ala Total War doing nothing while you are killing them

Really? I always found him surprisingly easy, to the extent that I soloed him successfully from the second attempt with a wizard (PotD)

Come to think of it though, that was on 2.03. Here is how I defeated him in my cureent playthrough on 2.03 PotD - Immediately exit the room, put two tanks at the doorway. Cast buffs on the tanks to protect them from elemental damage. Use Durance to cast interdiction on the enemy group. I believe this causes Maerwald to rush toward Durance, whom you should hide from enemy sight, or he will betargeted with spells.

In 2.03 Maerwald immediately casts a fireball (or chill fog as Blackadder says, not sure) at you as you start running away from the room, and this actually hits the blights that accompany him. The fireball weakens them, and if you cast chill fog inside the room after you've blocked the doorway, you will finish off or severly weaken the fire blight(s). Concentrate ranged fire on Maerwald to stop him from casting. Really not that difficult with a party of five, Kana being the 5th.

I am comparing between 2.03 and 3.00.

Impressions only, but I got the feeling that I had a harder time getting through his defences than before, and he was using his spells and abilities more aggressively. It could be just that I was running without a wizard and with a hireling priest as my only caster, and I didn't give Kana Reny Daret's Ghost. In any case he was a bit of a pushover on my last run, this time not so much.

I doubt he will be able to make any more of these shady deals. He should be sued.

Did someone just call Chris Avellone a scam artist?
God how much mercury is in the water over there? What a community of fucking idiots.
And it is Sheveks and Prime Junta's favorite watering hole.

I had a battery priest disengage on and get opportunity attacked by a *voice* yesterday in Durgan's battery as it was chasing my pulling druid (tanglefoot). Pretty hilarious, if not oddly applicable, bug.

It's just my own opinion on what I find fun, there's no need to be rude.
Alright, I was drinking and may have come off like an ass; let's not fight.

I do, however think you're exaggerating. In the IE games fighters are basically binary: you either auto-attack with them or you don't auto-attack with them. Sure, you can also use inventory items to give them a bit more versatility, and eventually HLA come into play as well, but inventory items are present in PoE as well, and HLAs are, as the name suggests, designed for high-levels.

PoE by contrast actually has multiple different ways to build fighters. It has modal and active abilities that can significantly change the fighter's role in your party composition. You may find PoE overall a less interesting game than the IE games (I do), but saying the Fighter in particular is a more boring class to play strikes me as disingenuous.

PoE inventory items are crap in comparison and you cannot use them during combat unless you placed them into quickslots before combat which was a stupid design decision and one of the things I am removing with IEMod.

Wait, using the inventory during combat on a IE mod? What sort of heresy is this?
