Which of these two ways would be more fun to replay the game. Solo on Easy setting, or Full party on Hard?

Nah I don't like when games artificially buff enemies for higher settings making them damage sponges. I like how in Pillars Easy-Med-Hard only changes mob composition instead.

Ironically, you are going to get the opposite effect that you intend by sticking to your dichotomy there. In Solo PotD, enemies aren't just "artificially" made into damage sponges. You have to actually plan your character to not just deal damage, but especially to avoid cascading defense failures to advance (there's also a trolly little xaurip on the bridge map that ended a couple of Triple Crown runs for me because he was quite simply unavoidable without approaching the bridge map from unconventional sides on the map). Quite simply, it requires you interface fully with all of the game mechanics far more meaningfully than a difficulty mode that "artificially" weakens enemies to the point of triviality or leaves it up to party presence.

It doesn't feel like they are buffed at all. If you are not very overleveled, combat will feel 'normal' on PotD.

The plan is to release the novella along side our 3.03 patch. Sorry it took us so long.

Sounds like they're crossing the ts and dotting the i's.

Sking,

can you either confirm or deny that 3.03 is going to be the last patch for this game?
Haha, oh... you.

Or not..?

(If they put this one up on their site I'm still playing it anyway, barring sudden game-ruining bugs)

I haven't played PoE yet but the time is drawing near for a playthrough. Here's my question, though: is it worth waiting until I get The White March expansion? I haven't bought it yet and I'm still unsure about it. The reason I'm unsure is because I don't exactly love Icewind Dale. I mean, I can appreciate that game on some levels but largely I'm just indifferent about it. Additionally, I absolutely LOATHE Icewind Dale II. I've heard that The White March share some characteristics with the Icewind Dale series. So, should I buy it or no? Does it add something to the story that I would miss out on by just playing the base game?

I say go with the base game and play some way into Chapter 2. If you decide by then that you like it, buy the expansions and jump into them. If you decide you don't like it, the expansions are unlikely to change your mind about it and you'll save a few bucks.

It expands a bit on the themes present in the original, but I wouldn't call it essential. Still, it's better than the base game in several ways - harder encounters, better use of your Witcher abilities in quests, more skill (and even spell and feat) checks, more CYOA screens.

But, like Prime Junta said, try to play the base game (with the latest patch - it changed quite a lot of things for the better), if you like it, odds are you'll like TWM as well. And, except that both of them take place in a snow-covered land, it really isn't that similar to Icewind Dale.

Thanks for the sage advice. I feel less hesitant about the expansion now. If PoE manages to intrigue me, I'll buy it.

http://jesawyer.tumblr.com/post/145308870511/poe-has-effects-that-give-you-a-chance-to-go

melnorme asked: PoE has effects that give you a % chance to go from Miss to Graze, or Graze to Hit, or Hit to Crit. Those effects aren't intuitive as they might seem - they suffer from diminishing returns in a very direct way. It may actually be worth reducing your Accuracy to benefit from them more. Now I'm not against that, but looking at your past decisions I'm surprised you didn't substitute them with an effect that gives you all three at once (ie, a % chance to go up from one level of hitting to the next).

All of those effects were designed for players who like to fiddle with math. Of the three “upgrade” effects, only Miss to Graze regularly sees diminishing returns. You need a 35 point Accuracy advantage to start chipping away at Graze to Hit. If you have that big of an advantage, you’re doing pretty well and you probably have a good handle on what’s going on, mathematically.

I'm not sure if I support these changes. Basically, it's yet another "Mental Binding is OP so let's nerf cipher focus generation" arbitrary nerf that does little to solve the problem at hand. Sword-and-board builds may be a little OP due to high Def but they're also boring as hell which to me looks like a fair tradeoff. Nerfing OHS doesn't address high Def at all and on its own OHS has always been inferior to DW. Change from graze->hit to hit->crit makes sense for a high Acc weapon style but 15% chance? Pff.
