Obsidian on twitter says it was last patch , the retardo dev in forums says another one is coming who to believe

Pay attention to the language he uses. "We will hope for a fix for a future patch." "I'm going to see whats up and see if we can get a fix."

Seems very likely to me that anyone who could fix the bugs in Eternity is way too busy crunching on Tyranny so it can be released later this year. So we get 3.03 released without ceremony and several days without a proper changelog or the novella released on the backer portal.

They're crunching on the great PoE2 engine overhaul. Probably tired of messing with the old game at this point.

Is Brennecke involved with Tyranny at all?

I'd be shocked if this is actually the last PoE patch, but they'll be few and far between when programmers have free time.

Yep, that's exactly what I noticed as well. They're trying to convey the message that the game is still supported, without actually saying that it's still supported.

Translation from PR to human: bar some game breaking issues, it's the last patch.

Still, they DID actually support it for 1.5 a year, and everything has been smoothly playable for a while now. No point keeping manpower on PoE forever, just to satisfy some forum autists who are having minor balancing issue on their 20th playhtrough with melee ranger.

I can understand the frustration over an unfixed bug that was added in a patch through carelessness.

Are we both talking about Confident Aim bug here? Because CA bug is the most irrelevant bug I can possibly imagine.

So it increases the damage your Fighter does. Seriously, who gives a shit.

Nobody gets effected by a bug like this, except for people who are probably doing their 30th playthrough with solo Fighter, or something equally pointless, and they feel it's not "legit" if they continue with bug still there. And you can just respec your Fighter and solve the problem, too.

I can certainly relate to OE if they don't want to spend precious manpower on this, because this is literally a textbook definition of a bug that bothers nobody except five forum autists.

CA now gives a passive and multiplicative ~48% damage boost instead of a ~8% boost, which is effectively even bigger because of DR. Since balance is probably the biggest drawing point for PoE's hardcore fanbase, it's a big deal for them.

Oh I get why it's a big deal for them, but I also get why it might not be a big deal for Obsidian. As this type of game never stays bug free, at some point you just have to pull the plug. A bug that only matters for specialized solo playthrough with one class, 15 months after release, might not be worth having five overpaid programmers sit on it for two weeks.

It'll be a scream if they decide the backer DVD update is another acceptable loss and Pillars of Eternity ends up being something I never play. :)

Yeah I mean don't get me wrong, it sucks to see games being cut off life support, but let's not pretend that it doesn't happen at some point with every RPG ever made.

We're lucky that these days with digital distribution, stuff generally get 1-2 years of solid care. I've waited like 7 years until community patches got VtMB to a state that was acceptable, and it STILL had problems.

I'm annoyed that they don't seem to have the novella up to buy separately. I'd like to read it but not enough to pay an extra $40 for the "royal edition" and I doubt it's a big enough deal to turn up on the torrent sites.

True story: I sent Josh a threatening message telling him that the lack of a Roguey playthrough would forever tarnish his game's reputation

Halfway through novella, an I really don't know what to think on it. Its fourth wall breakin, intentionally so I think, cos o subject matter bein a god o secrets an mysteries an a holy scroll o his teachins. I'm gettin drawn in by narrative, MCAs descriptions are as usual enthrallin an imaginative, but this is broken up by the detailed descriptions o background lore an this kinda ruins pacin for me. I can see why its needed, an I appreciate the strange off kilter atmosphere this fosters.

I'm likin it so far, Tarnish is appealin in an organic fashion, an Ouster a little out there but not up his own arse with it.

I won't play it at all if they don't make a 3.03+ patch for the backer disc.

It was absurd that you waited this long already, but that's just insane.
It's the easiest way to avoid looking like an abject apologist. Claim no first hand experience; all other view points are anecdotal.

I bought and received it so long ago that I no longer have any emotional attachment to playing it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Of course this makes for ideal assessment conditions.
