Finished Leon A on Hardcore.
Gotta say, hardcore difficulty was pretty good, although i had a crapton of ammo and supplies in the second half. I feel like Leon B on standart was harder.

I'm at Leon B Hardcore atm, revisiting RPD, and it's a complete shitshow. Just picked up the Clubs key and have to make my way up to the clock tower now. I have like 4 shotgun shells left with Mr. X on my tail and lickers everywhere. :|

I'm glad I did my first A and B runs on hardcore when everything was still new. I started my third run on standard and the game is piss easy. Got a S+ rank without trying.

Rumor: Resident Evil 8 Will Be Third-Person, Might Bring Back Hook Man, Still Early In Development
  • Resident Evil 8 “will take place on a recently-abandoned island where the secret laboratory is located.”
  • The story so far is to “uncover the truth behind the creation of Eveline and more of similar bio-weapons.”
  • “Some concepts from 3.5 (hook-man) will be borrowed for 8.”
  • “Hallucinations will play a big part, getting players confused on what’s real or not.”
  • Capcom is debating on whether they want to make this a mainline game or spin-off.
  • After the praise received by Resident Evil 2, they will go with a third-person camera view.
  • Development on Resident Evil 8 started last year by a small team.
  • Capcom is also discussing Resident Evil 3 Remake internally.
  • Resident Evil 8 will be released only after Resident Evil 3 Remake is out.
  • Capcom has no interest in remaking Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6.
aw, damn. I kinda liked the idea of main numbered series going into first-person mode.
1-2-3 with fixed camera angles, 4-5-6 with over-the-shoulder third person camera, 7-8-9 first person.

Even if it's just a rumor, it sounds very plausible.

capcom needs to put their focus on giving the series a real antagonist, with umbrella and wesker gone there hasn't been a memorable villain in any of these games

Does standard have more items (ammo, herbs etc.) or are zombie HP and checkpoints vs. ink ribbons the only differences?

I actually didn't notice more pickups, but there are definitely less enemies in addition to the things you mentioned.

As far i'm aware hardcore does replace a few items with ink ribbons instead, like the herb on the table in the east office, and a couple of hip pouches as well. Because of that it's impossible to get the 'waist of space' achievements on hardcore. (But who gives a shit about achievements?) So in standard you have a bit more resources and have to juggle shit less often.

There is a reason why Nemesis is still famous while I don't even remember who was the boss in RE6.
Nemesis 2.0 alongside Colonel Sanders who turns into a zombie T-rex then a giant mosquito, plus a clone of Ada Wong that turns into a giant monster face

Started playing this properly. Hardcore (should be called normal but whatever) is the only way to go here. I can just imagine how low the tension would be if I knew I had a ridiculous auto-save backing me up at the latest checkpoint.

The tension between playing with head phones at night along with the potential loss of progress is the only way for survival horror to really shine.

Also the game is good, though I reckon the game would've been better in first person and going for a more realistic approach instead of the cartoony characters like Leon. The only immersion breaking thing in the game is having Leon make little out of place comments every 5 seconds.

I was wondering about this. I've seen a few videos of people playing on 'Normal' and was super disappointed that the ink ribbons were taken out. I'm not a masochist when it comes to games, mind you, but if I managed to totally beat every aspect of RE2 on the N64 when I was but a wee lad--I think I can do it now in the Remake. I'd feel remiss not having to find those god damn ink ribbons and run by everything just so that I can save and eat food.

Ink ribbon management is hardly an issue on hardcore as long as you do enough things before saves. It's the increased enemy damage that's a bigger issue.

So is the base game just "save anywhere" silliness or do you still have to get to a save room?
