That would be in keeping with Codex traditions, last time the shit rpg that beat KotC for 2009's RPGCodex's RPGotY was Dragon Age origins.

they told me the codex was a prestigious website, filled with people with good taste, a website different from reddit etc. so i expect people to vote for kotc2, right?

felipepe has been demoted from historian to poll-curator

I'll be interested to see what lil gems have slipped by me this year. Haven't heard of half these games which makes me a fucking planar-level scholar of RPGs I guess.

the only one I voted for was Bannerlord so that I could add that it was the worst game of the year.
I'll be honest, given how stressful last year was I didn't have a whole lot of time to play games.

I only played Elden Ring (which I dropped after maybe two hours) and Persona 5 Royal from that list. I've never even heard of 90% of the titles.

Personally, I think this year had some great stuff like Betrayal at Club Low, Ctrl Alt Ego, Zorbus, Elden Ring, Monter Hunter Rise, Knights of the Chalice 2 and Fear & Hunger: Termina.

I get that most of these aren't the traditional CRPG style that the Codex was built around. And more traditional stuff like ELEX 2, Weird West, Black Geyser and Expeditions: Rome fell flat. But even Knights of the Chalice 2 only got 65 reviews on Steam and 18 on GOG, despite being exactly what the Codex pretends to champion... that's extremely disappointing.

Depending on the poll results, for 2023 it might make more sense to just do a "Baldur's Gate 3 x Rogue Trader" poll.
