YOU MAD BRO?
Wow, decided to break my lurking to voice my disappointment in those polls, especially the fact that only 3 of the top 10 Computer RPG's are even 90's games.
Especially ToEE, Arcanum and Vampire, which are downright unplayable without mods. Even Fallout 2 had over 800 vanilla bugs left in the game after official patches, Killap over at NMA recently discovered at least 20 more vanilla bugs and this is 14 years later, imagine how many more of lurking in the code itself. I'm strongly of the opinion that early dungeon crawlers like Bard's Tale II on Apple IIG, Darkside of Xeen, Star Trail, Crusaders of the Dark Savant, and others, deserve a place on that list. These games were good straight out of the box.
Edit: Also the JRPG list is bad too, Shin Megami Tensei I & II are missing, yet they managed to add the PS2 game?
New Vegas I think deserves to be 1# on Most Buggy Games That Ever Managed To Get Released
Mission Mojave, which is a fan project to fix bugs in the game, has a record 27,000 vanilla fixes. I uninstalled that game after I was unable to even finish a simple quest without opening the console and using kill commands on every nearby NPC in the building to get around the bugs.
An absolute disgrace of a "game", how it even managed to get released is unfathomable.
Ah, the endless search for feedback.Interesting that nobody has anything to say about the staff's opinions on the games, though.
try harder, newfagWow, I can only get to number two on the list before rolling my eyes in shame. Good job on having shitty taste cockdex
It's not unplayable but it does have some terrible bugs if you are (un)lucky enough to experience them, not to mention the loading times increasing immensily the longer you play. Last time I played I didn't get the dialog prompt to get patted down after entering Gomorrah and had to use a console command to be able to move (didn't want to reload and wait 10 minutes through 3 loading screens).I didn't encounter a single bug when I played New Vegas. I had a great experience right from the first minute.
Found loads in Bethesda's games though. I know they are rightly reviled on the Codex, but they got better reviews and better sales than anything Obsidian's ever done.
I expect to see retarded comments on other websites about New Vegas' so-called unplayability, I don't expect to see it on the Codex.
It's actually not a bad idea to make a Codex Top 10 Classic* RPGs, either created by staff / prominent members or by poll. I would love to read such a thing, especially with commentary. We need a list limited to cRPGs before Fallout's release. Please.
Right. And how is Fallout 2 a good rpg? It’s fun and all, but it’s not even close to stuff like… uh… even new vegas… or gothic 2 for that matter.
If there's anything that shows that the 'dex's taste has deteriorated, it's that Arcanum is not in the top 3.
It's a list of popularity, dumbass. Where the fuck is BaK more popular than IWD?

Where does it say "best"? How could a popular vote list like this even list games based on their quality? It's a list of popularity, dumbass. Where the fuck is BaK more popular than IWD?

so "best" means "more popular"? right.
I wonder if a good methodology exists for this. That would be unreasonable as you'd have have to split it up into different categories or weigh the votes of individuals differently based on what they've played.Next time, ask people to list ALL the games they have played and then pick their favorites. This way we'll know if they really played the older games and choose not to vote for them.I actually just did that poll on my own out of sheer curiosity. Since the last one I did forced you to only list 5 games as your top 5, that was fucking brutal. I was curious how such a list would turn out if given a chance to vote for your top 20.
If we are gonna do something like this, it should be by selected monocled gentleman... people that actually played all/most of the games, or the same problem/butthurt will happen: "waaahhhh Wasteland wins just because of recent popularity, while gems like Lord British unreleased first game never get's all the love it deserves..."It's actually not a bad idea to make a Codex Top 10 Classic* RPGs, either created by staff / prominent members or by poll. * for me "classic" means a game more than 20 years old, but it may be anything between 15 and 25, I guess.

Same here. I didn't encounter any major problems. New Vegas being so high up on the list is fine with me.
Why do people complain about New Vegas being there but not about Bloodlines? There's no reason Bloodlines couldn't work on a console.

right in the titleMaybe people are finally seeing Arcanum for what it is.
