WL2 was much worse.

See, you say this, but when I go back and read the Codex review, and see the commentary on that game, Wasteland 2 is portrayed as being a much better experience. Magnitudes better actually.

Believe me, since I have been looking hard at all the info I can about Divinity, WL2 and PoE just lately, that is the consensus I have seen. Divinity seems to be on top, with Wasteland trailing behind and PoE following up the rear in a cloud of flames.
It comes down to expectations and promises. WL2 alluded to Fallout and promised little. D:OS alluded to nothing and promised nothing. PoE compared itself to best IE games, and promised the world.

D:OS alluded to Ultima VII

I don't get why people have the feeling that reviews should be objective or "moderate" or whatever you call it.
If you hate something then go ahead go full Postal Dude on it, why would you limit yourself because somebody may think you are overreacting?
Internet people seem to be scared to read something that isnt going to reassure them in their shallow opinions.

I didn't follow the KS, but few months before release they didn't use Ultima to present themselves.

I liked most of DA:O and I'm not sure why. It's a shit world with a shit rule set. I basically soloed the last half of it on Nightmare with Leliana as a Bard/Ranger. I was also twice as drunk back then. Unfortunately the game failed to have an ending that took into account Logain sleeping with Morrigan so fuck that game. Fuck it in the ass, which should have been another possible interaction to have with Morrigan. Also, Winn had no business knowing that I drank the ashes. That was shit too even though I was glad she left. Well, fuck that game, regardless.

Wasteland 2 promised little???

It was very common to see people here complaining how Fargo overselled W2 to the extreme.

So basically PoE is to Obsidian what Dragon Age was to Bioware? Not a beginning but instead an ending. The last nail in the coffin. Fuck Sawyer! If Obsidian were smart they'd fire his dumb ass.
Yeah, firing the lead designer of the best recevied, financially successfull game of theirs. Jebus you are a retard. Let me give you a hint, nobody cares about the Codex's opinion outside of this forum.
We know that.
There's a reason for the past decline, and fear of more decline to come.

I don't get why would people even want something like that concidering the state of modern reviews. There are so many copypasted, sterile, 9/10 reviews on the internet, almost like people don't remember or don't know how it is to be passionate about thing you love or hate. They repeat and copy and echo each other and tell you the same thing.
What people think about as professional reviews more often than not completely lack personality and you can't get anything out of them. Graphics, music, story, whatever, few notes on gameplay here and there and a re-telling on what is the game about.
I get bored by reading reviews that have to be about everything and unbiased. Ironically only reviews that generate any sort of discussion are SJW rants and that is telling about the state of reviews.

Roxor writes through a ranty personality. That review is one long turd and reading through his verbal masturbation is jUst a waste of time.

I don't know what people here said but I only got a few Fallout vibes from WL2 and lots of undefined old school promises. They never promised anything specific like PoE did.

Codex 2012 Codex 2013 Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy Insert Title Here RPG Wokedex Serpent in the Staglands Divinity: Original Sin Torment: Tides of Numenera Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Kingmaker Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I was level 7 when I hit dyrford village. I'm level 9 at Twin Elms.

I was level 9 when I got to Dyrford, and level 12 when I got to Twin Elms, and I got all the NPCs to level 12 before the endgame. I didn't even get around to doing all the second tier bounties (there are even more after that?)

I actually don't see how it's possible to balance an openish world game with meaningful character power advancement, without scaling shit to your level. Even if you expect people to be completionists and budget experience for it, they can still do higher level stuff first and over-level for the lower level stuff. Unless you make the power increases from leveling extremely steep (ie, level x+1 quests are impossible, not just harder than level x quests, where x is your character's level).

I am grateful for PoE. Not only is it a game I am really having fun with, but it's also a butthurt generator of epic proportions as evidenced by this thread and the 1.5k~ page one before release. Keep at it, Obsidian:dance:

This forum is sooo retarded, omg. WHY i still return to this shitpile?!

Yes, it's hard to explain why people who claim to hate the Codex stick around anyway. Reasons seem to vary. Often, it's to complain about how Codexers keep posting about games they don't like instead of moving onto something more to their tastes.

I was 8 in Dryford and 9/10 in Twin Elms. I could have finished the game at lvl 10 (almost 11) but I done only lvl 1 of Old Nua so I went to finish that first. Still half way to 12 now. But I did no bounty quests (well didn't return them) as I read they give too much XP and overlevel you.

The codex is like that relative or friend that tells it to you straight, without sugar-coating and doesn't care in the slightest if you'll be offended and/or scandalized. It's shocking at first but in time you know he's is right. However, you can't completely shake off that 'yeah, but he's still an asshole' feeling

I think this is completely true. We agree or we don't regarding the review at this point it doesn't matter. What it matters is that finally we have a review which has some additional points and better analysis than the 99.9% of the reviews on conventional webpages, youtube e.t.c. By the way I think that all this 99.9% reviews had a reviewer who just played act 1. I am sure it is not true but this is the feeling i get.

Make a flatter power gain by leveling curve, that puts an emphasis more on flexibility than on power, that at least coherently reflects how your adventurer would grow and learn, and dont give level to creatures or correlate them to any level, creatures should have their own stats, strengths and vulnerabilities, and have the players play around those.
